I never experienced one--I don't want to as that means I was near death and I don't want to be near death any time soon!

I find them interesting too.

There's also the Pre-Birth experiences...that I made a thread for awhile ago: Pre-Birth Experiences (http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=130272&highlight=pre-birth)
They seem to be sort of similar.

Been there, done that. Its different from person to person sometimes, because I believe we don't all come from or are connected to the same realms.
My NDE was for me and for the knowledge of self. Its quite useless for others.
And my NDE was actually dieing and needing to be jumped started back up again.
I was flat lined for several minutes.

Near death experiences, I've had one, and one is enough for me.
I had a miscarriage when I was 14 weeks along, and the doctor at the hospital told me the baby died when it was 9 weeks old, so I'd been carrying the poor boy for 5 weeks before my body clued in that it needed to go. My placenta and such didn't release the way it should have naturally so they kept me overnight, due to have a D&C the next morning. I was beside myself with the most painful grief I've ever known! And to make matters worse, the only room in the hospital for me was in the maternity ward so I spent all night listening to sounds of new babes and happy families.
I woke a few times during the night freezing my damn ass off, so the nurses kept bringing me heated blankets, none of them thinking to check on me. I had 9 heated blankets on me when I woke in the morning, still freezing my ass off. I called a nurse to help me to the bathroom to pee and when she pulled the layers back, the blood poured in rivers off my bed onto the floor. I had hemorraged over night and was bleeding to death. I sat up and passed out and all I remember after that is feeling so very tired, I thought of my daughters and I cried for them, but I was so tired all I wanted was to sleep.
When I woke, the specialists told me I had lost too much of my body's blood supply and would require transfusions to bring it back up. My grandfather had contracted Hep B from blood transfusions so I said no, and agreed to drink the nasty liquid my father brought me from the health store.
This happened on Dec. 22 and I was released on the 24. I couldn't even walk or sit on my own, I was so weak. Christmas sucked...
It took weeks for any amount of energy to return to me. Ugh.. I'll never do THAT again!

As a side note here.. I've been hosting visitors from other realms for my whole life. If you see something that looks to be made of shadows, I'd advise you against trying to engage it or thinking its there and not hurting you. Shadow people feed off trauma, pain, fear and anger, so if you see one, know that its in your best interests to try to cheer up a bit! These creatures will help keep you down.

I'm happy to hear of these stories from all of you! Coming back from the brink of death takes strength and determination! High fives all round!

When I was in about the third or fourth grade, me and my friends were swimming at the local pool. It was a quiet day there and there were not many people around. I was a strong swimmer and so I was in the deep end, I don't know what happened... but I got tired, and everything went hazy and blurry. I knew I was sinking, I tried to breathe. No one noticed....
Everything was that funny misty white colour, I could hear the water moving, and see the lights in the side of the pool merge into this brighter strange glow.

I'm going to tell you all what happened next, though I don't fully understand it.

'something' huge came from the bottom of the pool and caught me as I sank, it lifted me. The closest thing I could describe it as is being like a whale. I made it to the surface lifted by this thing. My face broke the surface of the water and I gasped and coughed, I grabbed on to the floating section divder in the pool and hung on to it coughing up water. I pulled myself across the divider to the edge of the pool, climbed out and went and collapsed in the womens change room.

I never told my friends what happened, and no one noticed.

Here's mine.

I described this place in the Pagan Haven thread, despite having a near death experience there. Or maybe because of it. Hmmm.

Anyway, we all went out to the biiig lake, and it was very beautiful. Everyone wanted to go swimming but me, being the earth landlubber that I am, I was content to sitting and watching and reading. Anyway, it got incredibly hot and the cool water looked so tempting, I decided to join in anyway. It was ICY cold, man, I didn't expect it. I got as far as my waist and I was shivering, but content anyway, talking with friends and splashing them.

There was a current that very gently pushed me deeper... you know how you don't even notice you're walking along with the current? Yeah, like that. Before I knew it, the water was above my stomach, and it got stronger and stronger. I started panicking because I'm not a good swimmer, so I didn't waste time in trying to walk back to shallower areas. But it was so cold, I felt like I couldn't move properly so I cried out for help. A friend came over to help me, and she took my hand and dragged me back but even in shallower waters, I could barely walk, and we getting pulled pulled back. And then it was like I was suddenly warm and I was walking, very strong. This could have been adrenaline because I was delirious, but it felt incredible, and I mean that the way it's meant to mean - not credible.

When I got back, I walked quite calmly over to the grassy area... and suddenly felt cold again and completely collapsed, shivering. I was wrapped up in towels and proceeded to go into not-quite-consensual meditation.

That's my story. Dunno how close to DEATH it was, but it was very scary and I'm a bad swimmer. Plus hypothermia? Not fun.

My mom was in a terrible car accident in 1991. I was six. She was hit head on by a drunk driver. I think he was only 19 or so, and he went through the windshield and literally lost his face. It was an awful accident.

When mom was in the car, at first she felt kind of ok, then suddenly her chest inflated and got huge. A broken rib (one of MANY broken bones, she was SO hurt) had punctured her lung. She thought of me and said a prayer to God, telling Him that I needed her and that she needed to stay here.

Then suddenly, she was "taken" up above the city, so she could overlook everything, and someone was talking to her. She thought it was God, but said it could've been an angel. He told her everything she ever wanted to know, told her my purpose in life and made everything make sense to her. She was just astounded. She called it "the dot theory," because she was also shown how eeeeveryone in the city connected, and how no one could live without the other, even strangers. Small things like a guy picking up a quarter on the street, changed everyone's lives. She was astounded.

Now, the situation we were living in was one where my dad was an abusive drug dealer, and she was told something very important in regard to either leaving him or staying with him. When she "woke up," she couldn't remember the specifics of anything she was told, just that everyone was connected and that I had a big purpose. She also couldn't remember the important decision she was supposed to make re: leaving or staying with my dad.

She was taken to the hospital, and on her way, she thought God must've told her that I needed a father and to stay with him. She promised God she would stay with my dad if that's what He wanted her to do.

In the meantime, the phone had rung at our house to tell us my mom was hurt, and I was undressed and in bed with my father with no idea as to why I was there that way. My mom was out with my aunt and wasn't supposed to be back that night, and when the phone rang, it scared him so much that he jumped out of bed and sprained his ankle.

We arrived at the hospital shortly after my mom had been put in a room. My dad got there, demanding to know if his car was ok and complaining of his ankle so much that they put him in a room to tend to him. By complete coincidence, they were put in the same room, with a curtain between them.

My mom could hear my dad coming down the hall, shouting about his car and his ankle, angrily, saying he was in a worse position than she was, although she was waiting to be transferred to the ICU and could die. It was then that she realized what God had really told her, and that he was trying to give her another big hint since she'd misunderstood the first time.

She went home about a week later, then had a lot of healing time to do once she was there. He continued to abuse her in the meantime, and a couple weeks later, I told her that he'd been abusing me too and that it was really bad while she was gone. We left him the next day.

I have expeienced NDE but at the moment I do not have time to discuss my experiences. I will come back and try to post them at a later time with a little bit of detail. I agree with Shanti that it is a personal knowledge type of experience for oneself.

my mom's partner had a heart attack last year. she was at a dinner party and she started feeling really bad, but, out of politeness, she didn't say anything. then she felt REALLY nauseated, and luckliy, one of her friends saw that she was about to puke and ran to get a bucket. so she was "throwing up her toenails", as she puts it, and then suddenly felt this terrible pain in her chest. it kept getting worse and worse, and then she looked up to see a square of white light right above her head - and then she knew she would be all right.

luckliy, the host of the party lived very close to the hospital, and she was treated and given a stint in time. she's now better than ever, and is in fact sitting in this room, doing paperwork. The Goddess has blessed our family, i think.

I had one. At that time I was about 9 or 10 years old (I don't really remember my age) and I catch a fever. My temperature went very high (almost 41 degrees celcius) and I fell into a coma like state, my mother said.
I'm floating in a dark space for some time...until suddenly I am standing in the middle of a dark tunnel (cliche, I know). It felt deathly cold, and I am walking bare feet ---I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I ran into the light (the thing people normally do) and should be dead by now if not because of my mother. She shook my body really hard and screamed in my ear ---I surfaced into consciousness. When I asked her what happened, she could only uttered and repeated this sentence: "Thank you, God. Oh, I thought I lose you. I thought I lose you."

The next days when I asked about it, she said that after some time my body became cold and rigid, and no matter how hard she tried to wake me I wouldn't wake up. And maybe, maybe something helped her in her attempt to "bring me back to life". I wouldn't say that it's my Deity, but it could be.

When I was a teen I OD'd on antidepressants and managed to kill myself :) I remember the tunnel and the feeling of serenity. I really miss that peace sometimes, but I know its still waiting for me and that I came back because I still have alot I need to do!

Gandalf described it well in LOTR: Death is not the end, just another path. One which we must take. The grey veil of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass... and then you see it. A green land amongst the sea.

When I was 7 I was bitten by a dog, the bite became infected and three days later I contracted blood poisoning from the bite. When I was finally taken to the hospital my fever was up above 105 and I was hallucinating.

The last thing I remember was being attacked by a monster in a white coat with something pointy. After that, I just drifted, I don't really remember much except for the pain. Apparently my heart stopped twice before they got my fever down.

The doctors told my mom that I was going to be brain damaged. So much for modern medicine.

I've had two.

Once I was at the beach and got caught in a strong rip current (http://www.ripcurrents.noaa.gov/). I was a really good swimmer, but I was only 10. I started to panic as I was being quickly carried out to sea. Luckily a couple of guys jumped off the jetty that I was going by and worked together to get me out of the water.

The other time was a few years after that when I had a man chocking me and shaking me back and forth screaming at me that he was going to kill me. I didn't black out or anything, but my head was starting to spin and my vision was getting wonky. In that situation though, I was probably less in danger then the first time.

The first time I was scared. The second time I was not afraid of dying. I was just pissed off.

My mom had a friend who got in a bad car crash and the friend claimed that the christain God asked him if he wanted to live or die because if he lived he wolud be in a wheel chair for life so he chose life.

When me and my friends were wrestling a long time ago my friend got me in a bad chokehold and it hurt really bad then it got very peacful and warm and my vision became very blurry.

Last story is my cousin got in a car crash and swore his dead brother told him that he loved him and misses him very much.

It was only a year ago actually, I was at school eating a soft pretzel and they're hard to chew so it got stuck when I swallowed. I saw darkness kind of bleed into my vision, making it look like I was in a tunnel backing away from the light. Then some odd numbing feeling started to come over me, but before anything else could happen, it was like someone reached through me and knocked it down to where I could swallow it. That's actually what made my psychic perceptions open up as well (see my thread in the hauntings section for more info).
I'm glad I didn't die- that would have been embarassing! :cutie:
