Celebrate Persophone's Return to Underworld

Event Details: Please join the Northern Virginia Community Pagans as we host our first open, community ritual. On Saturday, September 23, 2006 we will be hosting an open Mabon / Autumn Equinox at the Mason District Park in Annandale, VA (directions below) . This Mabon ritual will be honoring Persephone’s return to the Underworld. We will also take time to give thanks for that which we have received during this past growing season.
Prior to the ritual we will hold a workshop decorating and dedicating besoms (brooms) which we will use during the ritual. During the workshop we will also have a discussion on the traditions and magical uses of the besoms.
The workshop will start at 1:00pm with the ritual following at 3:00pm. A community potluck and drumming circle will follow the ritual giving us all an opportunity to socialize and get to know each other.
Please bring the following items, as you are able:
1. A canned food contribution, which will be donated to SERVE (Securing Emergency Resources through Volunteer Efforts) to be added to their Food Closet.
2. A contribution for the after-ritual potluck (note, there is no power available)
3. Drum, rattle or other rhythm instrument
4. Lawn chairs, camping chairs or blankets
The Northern Virginia Community Pagans is a new group formed for the specific purpose of enabling communication and support between the various Pagan groups and solitaries in the Northern Virginia area.
