After having a Rider Waite deck for 20 yrs I finally broke down and purchased the Arthurian Legend Tarot a couple years ago. Has anyone else had any experience in using this deck?

I am finding that it is taking me longer to adjust to the new deck than I thought.

Hi Aglaia

I am thinking of purchasing that deck this weekend because I am looking for a swords-fire, wands-air deck with good courts.

But I don't know all the characters in the King Arthur Tale and am wondering if I need to reread the book first. Is it Celtic or Anglo-Saxon Heathen or Pagan or Wiccan or is it non-denominational? Just curious because I am not on any specified path right now and I want my cards to be 'loose.'

Maybe if you rented the movie Camelot you might get into the cards more.

RSW is an intelluctual deck that's more 'thinky' than intuitive...for me at least. Maybe when reading the Legend you can really put yourself 'into' the cards in a way that was impossible with RSW. It would require a different approach...more like swimming perhaps.

Good Luck...

If I find the deck in town I'll post back!

well now ... a new deck ... when i got the sacred geometry oracle cards, i thought ... gee i know numerology and sacred geometry, this deck should be a breeze for me .... HA! does the universe have a sense of humor or what!

i think often once we get proficient on a deck or with a certain 'way' of doing things, we forget how long and hard we struggled to get the place of fluidity ... the new deck spurns your comfort zones, fires up your expanding muscles and propels your thoughts in ways you never even thought about thinking ... soon they too will be second nature and you will have forgetten about the struggle to become intimate once again!

congrats on the new deck, though ... very exciting!

this deck is just another average tarot pack, until you get the campanion book 'A Keeper of Words'. then you will understand the system the way it is meant to work.

It came with 'a keeper of words' I guess I am a creature of habit...lol
I really love the art work and it is slowly coming together. Patience has never been my strong suit :)

I have it, in my bag of holding with the other 34 decks :P

I'm very partial to it. It's one of my more "tactful" decks and it gets brought out when I think the quarient needs a straight answer, but one that isn't going to push buttons.

I'm not a big Arthurian legend buff and have learned more about it by used the deck then anything else. Honestly, I don't your you need a good grasp of the mythos to be able to read with this deck.

That is my main deck. I am very fond of the legends, though, so I was familiar with them before I bought it (that was the main reason, actually).

I recommend reading books like The Mists of Avalon to start associating personalities with the court cards, and it's a fun way to learn more about the events described.

I appreciate your advice, I had read The Mists of Avalon years ago, before I purchased this deck. I will pull it out and re-read it.:)
