on casting circles...

okay, heres the deal:

last time my sister cast a circle, something attacked her that left her drained. and she can't get rid of it. I didn't celabrate imbolc or candalmas because i'm too frightened to do so. do any of you have anything that i might be able to use to make sure that this doesn't happen to me? or anything to maybe help my sister?

Well, for one thing, casting a circle is done to keep negative things out. Tho manipulating energy can often attract animals and spirits, it's not like poof you cast a circle and nasties can get you. So whether there was something there or not, it wasn't there because she cast a circle. Why does she assume something attacked her? She could physically be wiped out, be stressed about something (even if she doesn't realize it) or have some other reason to feel bad at the moment.

You might wish to burn sage and spread salt around to cleanse the area, or use incense, etc. to get rid of the nasty energies. You might also both do some research and study up on some protective amulets or rituals you can use.

As Myst said, it could be that it's very draining working with energies. Especially if she's not properly grounded. Do you know if she did that before she got started?

Oh yeah, I didn't even think of that. Did she ground and center, then raise energy, and ground and center afterwards? If not she probably drained herself.

well, my sister said that she used a chant that she and her friend wrote, but i don't see how that could have caused the problem. My sister always grounds before she casts a circle, so that couldn't be it... and i think that she dedicated the chants to the Lady, so... what could it be? She is still really shaken by everything that happened. she can't sleep, and she says that she feels, just totaly drained, like she has no energy at all. she hasn't been in her altar room since, she too scared that something will attack her again.

And did she center before and ground and center afterwards? Did she cleanse herself and the area thoroughly beforehand? Has she cleansed the area now?

Is this the first time she's cast a circle? If she's done this before, has she changed anything? You said she and her friend wrote a chant. You might want to ask her what she said & see if there's anything there that would give you some answers. She might have inadvertantly called something that she shouldn't.
