My hearth is open. All of you are so kind and warm. Tears spill now even as I write this.

A special ceremony shall be held tonight in honor of you all.

Too bad there isn't a Smiley with a tear.

Blessings,
Thoma

Good thing you didn't git bit.

basically what's happenning is that one of our folk is in bad times temporarily and was going to lose her computer and so lose contact with us. rantnraven, mol and several others came up with a computer and accessories to keep her online, this without her asking, the lady is no beggar. the computer is enroute to her now and those of us that can are chipping in to help with the shipping costs that were laid out. but this is all totally voluntary and only if the givers can do it without having to eat beans for the month. if you'd like to chip in a buck or two (no more) get in touch with rantnraven or mole and they'll fill you in. for the whole story see threads "goodbye" and "older folks", and thank you for asking.

Thank you, Gunner.

I have PM'ed this wonderful person. And you, your self, are deserving of a Double Lemonade and an extra Comfy Chair. I would love to sit beside you and talk awhile one day.

i'd enjoy that raven but we've got a problem with 3,000 miles of scenery between, and california would get real nervous if i travelled armed, as i usually do, from what i've been hearing. but if you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods be sure of a welcome.

I may take you up on that threat.

I travel a lot in my work and just might end up on your porch begging for a glass of lamonade.

LOL

but it may come to pass.

Are you near Roaring Brook?

I have some friends in RI and, when I pop by to see them, I might take a trip to VT.

Have the lemonade ready.

"roaring brook", don't remember that one, i'll have to look it up. no, i'm perched up on the bank of the whetstone brook about a mile from where it joins the connecticut river and about 2 miles from the meeting of the west river and connecticut river. i'm about 3 hours drive from rhode island and if you do want to swing up this way you'll be welcome.

That's like a 40 mile drive in the Los Angeles area. That wouldn't be too tough at all.

actually i was basing that on the trucker's "rule of thumb" for interstate running, "50 mph per hour average speed" which usually works out pretty close to right in ordinary driving. now in l.a. all bets are off. i'm just about 150 miles north west of rhode island.

rantnraven

Avg freeway speed here is about 10- 15 MPH and that doesn't include the trucker who, BTW, can't drive during certain hours.

150 mile on an open highway, in a rental t'boot? I could be there in twenty minutes or so.

(grin)

Especialy in a rental!!!

Well, Farrari, anyway

150 miles in 20 minutes? that could be "interesting" mass. state police cars are blue and grey crown vics, they top out right around 130 mph.

rantnraven

I'll get somethig slightly better then a Crown Vic. It will be black and I'll travel at night - without head lights. That should be a trip, eh?

Nevertheless, when I bury this rental in the basement next-door, have the lemonade at the ready. We may have to pretend that I have been there for a while

no worries, last time i wanted to get rid of a car we just parked it in a shopping center down in mass. stripped the plates and inspection sticker off it and never heard from it again.
