While arguably everyone one utilizes Hedonistic concepts from time to time, do you view pure Hedonism as a bad thing?

Hehehe Hedonism shall be the whole of the law...
I think this is what pissed Moses off so bad when he came down the mount the first time.
Personally IMO, anything taken to an extreme can be proven to be "unhealthy" Hedonism included. When we think of only the pleasure of ourselves and strive only to maintain our own person pursuit of pleasure, what is left to remind us that the pleasure we are feeling for the moment can feel better if we forget to allow those less than pleasant experiences into our lives to give that pleasure a point of persepctive?
Like anything that one partakes of too much in...boredom would set in. Harmony only works if both sides of any two opposites are known, experienced, and the balance between them sought. It makes the feeling of either that much more awesome and exquisite.

Anything taken to extremes can be harmful. But do I think hedonism is inherently harmful or bad? No. Not at all. I think indulging in the...ah... pleasurable aspects of life is a good thing.

That sounds like Epicureanism. They believed that whatever you do in life should prolong your pleasure, but you shouldn't overdo it. In other words, drink if it makes you happy, but don't get drunk, at least all of the time. If you eat a lot of fried food, exercise so you take care of yourself.
Yes! I actually used information from my Humanities class. That's a grand that didn't go to waste.

I don't think any one "ism" works all the time. Situations call for differing approaches.
I'm not sure what "pure" hedonism would look like...interesting to imagine though.
I practice it on weekends...but then I have to work all week to pay for it. I think that hedonists would run (or fun) out of money, energy and health pretty quickly. About 3 days in a row of it is all my checking acount and health can take. Then I have to "convert" back to realism till Friday riseth again.

I'm going to have to side with Blake on this one. "The path of excess leads to the tower of wisdom" kinda thing...
Except not for everyone.

Too much of anything can be bad for you but just enough is fabulous ;)

It depends on how you define hedonism. Epicurus and the other early hedonists stressed living a frugal life, enjoying the small pleasures and going through some painful experiences (eg excercizing) or delaying gratification (not gorging on chocolate) in order to experience higher order pleasures (eg a healthy body)
None of the early hedonists (or at least none of those who were taken seriously) recommended a type of hedonism that would involve fulfilling every immediate pleasure- they claimed that that lead to vulnerability in case one lost the means to satisfy these pleasures.
I definately agree with them that pleasure is the primary motivator for human beings and that pain is what we work to avoid. And I agree that there is nothing wrong with wanting pleasure.
But if you mean "pure hedonism" as the type where everyone fulfills their immediate desires, then yeah there's a problem - no one would do anything productive, ever!

I just love being Hedonisc. At times, I know there are times when I have to do things I don't want to and thats part of life. But I don't feel at all guilty when I say that my personal pleasure ranks pretty high up there in things that matter to me. After all thats why where here, to indulge ourselves till we die. There are just some things that are a lot better here than there.

It's an easy formula really... maximize the ratio between pleasure and pain in favour of pleasure... in order to do that, sometime you have to endure short term "pain" in the pursuit of greater "pleasure"
