Watch this and tell me what you think:

I don't think it's an idiot dog at all. He isn't really hurting himself and he appears to be doing some kind of fantasy role-playing: sneaking the leg up on himself while pretending to be preoccupied...warning snarl..kill it! Now the rawhide! All enemies defeated! I've never seen this. If it was a little kid it would be a developmental milestone, but the dog gets called "idiot" - go figure.

It almost seemed like the leg was not his.... hummm.... I wonder if he has spasms or something?

That was creepy. Like he has a genuine split personality and that leg is running on another identity! I feel sorry for the dog. Mental illness seems to be an obvious possibility.

And that sure isn't just a typical behavior issue. That's definitely a mental health issue. IMO

Idiot dog! :hahugh:

I've seen it before, common in highly territorial dogs. The leg is coming up to scratch behind it's ear out of reflex, but it's also highly protective of his bone... another words that dog is biting first, asking questions later... idiot dog.

But if the dog were truly an idiot and truly biting, it would be a bloody mess.

I've seen dogs do this before. And while it looks weird to people some dogs behave this way and if the dog isn't bitting hard enough to hurt himself its not doing any real harm.

i think the dog thinks his foot is from another animal and hes trying to protect his bone.

food agression is a problem with some animals, i would have to see the dog and know his history before i made a true judgment
