Hi everyone,

My name is Amber. I'm 16 and I live in the eastern United States, but don't be fooled by my age. I may be a Buffy fan, lol, but I'm not a Buffy/Charmed/Harry Potter witch! I'm new to Paganism, actually. It has interested me for several years, but I come from a Christian background, so there has always been some fear about exploring it. Right now I am in sort of a spiritual searching phase, which I thought was a bad thing, but I'm now seeing is a blessing! I still consider myself a Christian, and maintain a lot of those beliefs, but they are being redefined right now, and are becoming strongly Pagan-influenced. I guess I could be called a Christo-Pagan.

I have only two books on witchcraft right now: 21st Century Wicca by Jennifer Hunter and The Cauldron of Change by De-Anna Alba. I'm not specifically interested in the Wiccan path, but some aspects of it interest me, and I figure there's no harm in reading up on it. The Cauldron of Change is about Dianic Wicca, which just interests me on a feminist level, though I know it's not the right religious path for me. I'm really enjoying the other book though, learning to relax, ground, and center myself, etc. I also have a copy of Teen Witch by Silver Ravenwolf on the way, but I have a feeling it's going to be too...erm, fluffy...for me. Maybe I'm wrong though. It was free, so how could I pass it up?

I started studying tarot 3 months ago, and I love that. I'm a serious deck collector too. Last night I wrote my first prayer that pertained to both the male and female aspects of the deity. I lit some incense, prayed, did some deep breathing...it felt awesome. No spells yet, and I really don't know if I'll do one anytime soon. It's not just 'cause I'm inexperienced. Typical teenage spells (love, money, good grades, etc.) seem really juvenile to me, like I'm taking advantage of a divine gift, and I think healing and dream spells and whatnot are good, but they're probably something I'll only use when I really need them. Maybe my opinion will change though...like I said, I'm new! But to me, any religion is more about worshipping the God/Goddess, and not about what I can gain from it.

I've also been doing a lot of internet surfing, joining forums, and researching different paths and traditions. It's been a big help. Today I found a chant site and discovered a Goddess chant I've been singing all night long.

Ok, this is waaaay too long for an intro, so I'll shut up now, lol. I look forward to being part of the community and getting to know you all.

~Amber~

Thanks Brenda and Minerva Mind.

By the way, Minerva is an AWESOME name. I just got three rats and named one of them that. Yeah, guess that might not sound like a compliment to some people. :-/ LOL It was supposed to be. And the Dark Crystal is awesome! Love your siggy.
