so in the news they're discussing making a mammoth/ elephant hybrid.

might need it if we have another ice age.

but anyhew they have frozen sperm and are taking dna from frozen mammoths

they plan to put a fertilized ova into a female elephant, the mammoths closest living relative and let her come to term.

Then they will breed the offspring with elephants, and ouila a kinda mammoth

they were talking about having them in scotland..

not sure how this'd work and because there's so little dna difference there's no possibility of mules they think..

and if mammoths r huge can an elephant carry it to term wouldn't it be too big?

or will they cross it with an elephant first?

Allot of good points.
They've been talking about it for a few years now since they got the viable sample from a frozen mammoth.
It would be interesting. I don't know if they think they would learn anything from this or what good it would do.
As far as size goes, don't know. She could probably carry but they would have to deliver by c- section.
Personally, I see no reason to do it.
