Okay, folks. Backups and creating the new header and scheme has taken me 4 hours. I have to get up for work in 4 hours. SO, I think I should sleep. I will perform the board upgrade tomorrow.
See the above link for new features and stuff, though. Discuss! Lots of new things are about to happen. Fun times!

Complete agree! Look at the face of that woman... she looks like she's suffering and in pain... and that tuft of hair on her face, which seems to be hair, it's not. It looks like "blood" coming out of her head.

Features will be added back soon. Journals (for subscribers) and other goodies to come. Be patient and bare with me.

Ok...guess I'll try to add my two cents....Mol, I like your art work...please understand that...but I must put in my vote for seasonal headers.....I understand your painting and like I said...I like this one...but I feel that for some first time visitors, it might be an automatic turn-off. I understand your pic depicts that she's been through pain and is now finding hope...and I love to see your artwork when you post it....I just feel the seasonal headers were more inviting and immediately explained what this site was with the wording on it...
I'm still trying to figure out other changes as I just got home from late night class and just discovered changes had been made.
Thank you for all of the work that you do to make this a better site...and for letting each of us be able to give our opinions or vote when voting on things are posted. :hugz:

That is a good possibility. Perhaps the subscribers can pick a color in the subscriber forum? Maybe start a thread for them?
Actually, I meant for the forum guides. (They are the reds, correct?)
The subscribers names are alright (to me), but I will start a thread and get their opinions.

I tend to agree here. I like the artwork. Very lovely, but I can see how it would be a bit of a turn-off to people who happen by this forum. The unicorn was a little fluffy (though I do like unicorns, but not how most artwork shows them).
I like the idea of seasonal headers. Or at least something that gives a better idea of what Mystic Wicks is about and for without needing an intro. A picture is worth a thousand words.

_wedgie_ You scared me mol! I did not realize I had logged in for the first time in 2 days in the middle of the change, because I had just jumped into a reply link to my coinkydink thread that I have in my favorites list (yes, when you are an MW addict with little time, sometimes you have to cut corners! :hahugh: )
but anyway, it is a lovely pic... at first the darkness spooked me in a creepy way, but then it hit me like sexy spooky, lol, and really has me analyzing myself in a freudian way, because I keep thinking I am looking at Morr and Lilith combined ... but then again, I'm :kooky: like that... I see the other interpretations now though lol
Oh, and just about the time that it hit me that it had to be one of your paintings, they started talking about paintings on the Noggin (think it's Max & Ruby ) show my tot is watching and they've got their canvases and brushes out, so everything must be going as it is supposed to... carry on in sync, my dear buds!
NO, WAIT, do you know what I thought it was at first? Honestly, the top of the head was all that was showing before it all pulled up, and i just now remembered I thought it was semi! It looks like almost everbody on here I guess...
but here is the odd thing... you know the guy from System of a Down... not Serj, but the one who has that crazy look in his eye, can't think of his name but... just look at it... it could be him too! OOh, and I thought it was Morr at first... this is too weird because I know semi loves system of a down... :veryweird

Mary said, “Until you know the darkness of Sophia, you will not acquire her light. Unless you die and are reborn of the Mother Spirit, the knowledge of the resurrection will elude you.”

The artwork and colors give the site a very Dark, Goth, Vampire, and totally Masculine look.
It's not a place I would have come to had I not known what it was. Just my 2 cents!
I like the way you handled the light and shadow on her face, Mol. Good job. I'm an artist as well. I'm not dissing your art, I love all art. I just don't think the colors and imagery are 'light' enough to appeal to the majority of folks here. But I could be wrong. Perhaps MW wants to be 'darker.'

Hmmm...The whole light and dark concepts of duality coming up here too. Why are people associating dark with negativity? I don't understand that or duality in general.
I do respect we have different tastes Watercup (love your username); but this goes deeper and is interesting. I wondered myself about how many people were put off by unicorns (which I love, btw) and pastels, never to return. And it seems to have been 'all light' here at MW in the graphics for far longer without a balance in perspective ...though I don't know much before a year ago.
I don't see the colors as particulairly masuculine. But then again, I hate that pastels are considered feminine, being feminine myself, if that makes sense, lol. And I'm not a Goth or Vamp type person either. :) The colors are so soothing and restful to my eyes...my adjustment is trying not to be distracted by the pleasantness, 8O

I'm not sure that everyone here is particularly light and sunny ... and does goth, vampiric etc also mean 'masculine'?
But I do think, while I like it and I have no problem with the dark and gothic, I wonder if maybe someone just coming across this site for the first time might assume it was a goth/vampiric type forum, and decide that as they weren't, it wasn't for them?
Just a thought, maybe.

By the very nature of this piece one could be repelled and attracted at the same time. When I first saw this piece it hit me in the gut. And it repelled and attracted. The darkness is the beauty of the piece.

I didn't say I didn't like it, though it's not the type of art I would choose for my walls. The thing is the dark background of the posts is not enough contrast against the black type to be able to easliy read the posts for someone as blind as I am. I am not sure if a color blind person could read it either. It is definately a thought provoking painting. I do like the colors, just not for reading against.

=] Well, it is my art...but it's actually OUR site...the community. I had several reasons for sticking my art up there. First, selfish...I wanted to display her. I am proud of her. I love her...she is my favorite painting and marked a point in my artistic career (as much as I can call it a career so far) as the first time I really LIKED a piece of my artwork. Second, it is a thought provoking piece...and this forum has always encouraged, well, thought. Third, and probably most importantly...we just had a major upgrade and I needed to get it done for security reason and it required me to revert ALL of the templates back to plain jane vbulletin. It usually takes us 3 weeks to gather header submissions from members and the 2 weeks to vote and then, what 1 year for me to actually get the change done (haha...not really...hush..all of you. :)).
Anyway, there ya go.

And you have to be brutally honest with yourself and with the people dishing you crits. Not only are they trying to streer you in the wrong direction but will site you are not dedicated to your artwork
and are not taking it serious. and all the words and fights you will utter and get into will not mean anything. only your actions will speak louder than your words and state how dedicated you are or how good you are. Lightdragon hit this right on. Art is more than writing, painting, sculpture, or playing music. It's in every move we make (washing dishes, mowing the lawn, fixing the car), every word we say (hello, thank you, good idea), every blink of our eyes. We just don't see it because the emphasis in most cultures is on the painters, musicians, writers, speakers, etc.
The best example is Mol's artistry with this site. How many of us could come up with the ideas he has, incorporate others' ideas, and so readily change and modify what doesn't work (or find a way to make it work)?
Right on, Lightdragon!!!!:boing:
