Ok, so this is totally my fault and I am stressing up the whazoo. About a year ago I was late to work and tried to power through a yellow light, well the camera fired a bit early and bingo! a $500 ticket! Well I did my best to get the stupid thing postponed cause I was broke and was getting married to boot. So now the due date is fast approaching (Sept. 1st) and I had the money saved up but our car almost got repoed and I had to use all the money I had saved to keep the car!!!! :awilly: I am so scared that they are going to suspend my license and put a warrant out on me. I cant pay the extra $300 they will tack on if I cant pay by the due date. I am so stressed out I'm going to cry! Plus on top of all that the temp job I had just ran out so I'm not making any money anymore. **whimper** what am I going to do????

sometimes they let you make payment arrangements.. if you go to the courthouse early, before the due date, with something, even if it is $50 and talk to the clerk, she will be able to advise you.

Perhaps she will let you talk to the judge and ask if you can set up payments.. maybe $50 a month? I know in NJ they let you do that, maybe they let you do it in your state as well... I think as long as you make an attempt they wont put a warrant out on you.

Thank you for your energies. The problem with the court/payment thing was that I got the ticket in San Diego, where I lived at the time and I now am living in Oregon. So I have to use mail correspondance and I tried to get payments but they were denied! I have never had payments on any ticket before. I just dont know what to do...

Try calling them and seeing if you can do public service. If you've notified them of your change of address and etc. I can't see why you couldn't do public service where you are.

Bless your heart! Believe me, I know how you feel. Do everything you can to take care of it, be it payments, service, or borrowing the money somehow. Sorry you're going through this. It's just so easy if you don't have alot of money to get in a vicious cycle with this sort of thing. Hoping and praying you get it resolved in the best way possible... Let us know what's happening.

Thank you all for your continued energies. I hadnt thought about the community service, I will have to ask. I e-mailed my dad tonight, he lives in San Diego and hopefully will be able to help. I am so nervous that he will say no, but am praying that he will help me. I will keep you all updated.

Here is the update: I got an e-mail back from my dad this morning, he wont help, not even a loan with intererest. I also called the courts and they said that I could do the community service but it would have to be in San Diego and that would be after they would send it to collections. I am so flipping out! I'm so scared because I know I'm not going to be coming up with the money before Sept.1st...I am so going to jail :( I just dont know what to do anymore, plus we have to pay $138 to the electric company by the 28th or they will shut off our electricity and then of course rent is due the 1st. Why all of this now?? Any energies or suggestions greatly appreciated.
