for the love of all things sacred, take an extra minute out of your time and find your own avatars!

Who stole your av?
Or was that just a general comment?

Dellit Tandannon ~ I am not sure if you meant someone was taking yours or not but when I was looking for the one I now use I saw the one you use from the link below ~ so if you see someone else using it too maybe they got it from this site and not from you ????

I don't think Dellit meant his was stolen specifically. :)

Myst ~ I just started getting into the hang of who is who by their pic rather than the name as it is bigger and more personal than just a name ~ then you change it on me ~ lol ~ I love your pic before as well as this only ~ I just got use to you being an Amy Brown Goddess ~ is your new one of her art as well ????

you have to turn it on, under options, I think.

I make all my own avatars. If they're stolen, it's because someone took theirs from me. I edited my current one out of an artbook image - it took hours to get right. ^^;

well, Myst has used the one she is using now in the past before!
She switches faces to throw us trouble makers off the mark!:p

Yes, the minute I see anyone posting with the "Amazon Woman" avatar, the only possible response can be "I hate you" and it is very hard to suppress that instinct!

Mine is mine, I had to fudge up some things but it is all mine any one walking around with a skelator such as this should be torn apart by ravonous mobs of roaming demons and their flesh should be worn as a robe. Their eyes should boil and their skin should burn, their bones turn into a gelatonous mixture of calcium and cell goop. They should swallow their own brain and choke on their own heart, their organs should turn against them and devour their body. Theives suck! Ok so my views on 'borrowing' and 'sharing' are a bit harsh, but get your our own darn avatar! Dont steel them from others (or me :smoke:) they are too personal to do that! There are plenty of sites that offer such avatars for free, however as the only one I have come accross also contains porn I wont post the link.

There's a really, really, old thread on sharing avatars. People who had avatars they wanted to give away or share posted them there. That's where I got my face in the forest one. I wish I could get this a bit bigger so you can see the details more but I love this one! :D

Since this is the first message board I've ever belonged to, I'm still a novice at all this. I just clicked on one when I filled out the registration. I'd love to change mine to something besides one of the given ones on the board. How do you use a personal avatar? What do you do?

Click Profile -> edit options -> Change Avatar

At the bottom of the Change Avatar page there's a browse form.. just select the image you want from you hard disk. (You have to have an image on your hard disk of course).

Click browse, select the file, and click the radio button beside YES *above* where you chose your file. Then go ahead.

I went to the site that was linked in Blue Cat's old thread about avatars. I have a few stored away. I like this one for right now. I used to have the Cheshire Cat.

Yeah! I got it! Well actually my husband did it for me, when he got home. Expect me to change it a bit more frequently, now that I know how.

My av's my own work. The original image is hanging on my door staring at me as I type. I had several faces to choose from, but this one looked the best.

I stole mine from AOL....consequently I use it on everything, cause I think it looks like me. And, basically it does.

Shy Hawk you lie I have seen a picture of you and you are a lot better looking than your avatar! Mine is a card I have that I am very fond of. I tend to change mine a lot.

O...k....

Here's a question...I have an avatar (my own :) ), but when I come to this board, I don't SEE anyone's avatar, even my own.

What's up with that?

willowfairy

s1ren - you don't have the avatar thing turned on. Look at the beginning of the thread to see how to turn fix it.

LOL, Wildchild, the whole time I've been here I think the forest face is the only one I've seen you with, and now you've changed it!! :D I was used to the other one.

Flaire-FireStar
February 23rd, 2002, 12:45 AM
 The first one I saw Wildchild with was the green witch head one which she had around Samhain... :) hehe

But it looks like everyone's changing their avs around... *heck, I do it all the time...m'self.. :p*

Yes, certain people become known by their avatars. I always get lost when someone has had one for a while, and then switches on me...like Wildchild. I always get that "amazon woman" confused....and Ill's I spot from a mile away.

I love your av, Shyhawk. She's so cute!

Heh! I like the faces in the forest one too. I probably be going back to that one but just felt like a change. I like this one but not sure if it's "me". :D

My avatar is a *small* section of one of my own artworks, so by copyright, I own it. I agree that people become "known" by their avatars . . . they're bigger than the printed name, and you just get so used to seeing a particular image above/below a particular name, that you automatically make the association upon seeing the picture. Having two or more people with the same avatar would make it a bit confusing! :ahhhh:

Nyx
February 26th, 2002, 10:10 PM
It's even more confusing when you see someone posting with your old av! :bug:

I like my avatar (I got it from here), but I'd like to change it. I can't seem to find anything elsewhere small enough to fit, though. :( Any suggestions?

Try the avatar store thread. :) There's lots of choices on there! :D (I'll bump it up if it's hidden somewheres)
