LMAO...ok....this really made me laugh. This page highlights some of the myths surrounding menstruation which still persist in modern Philipino Society. LOL. I have to warn you though, there were a couple of parts that made me a little queasy...

So..GUYS..unless you have a cast iron stomach, i'd leave this one to the ladies.

my husband is phillipino and i get those old wives tales from my mother-in-law all the time

She thinks the wives tales are 'Gods truth' and the reason i cant get pregnant is cause i dont believe in it and follow her rules.

heh....my Grandmother always said not to take a bath when you were menstruating too. And we're not phillippino. Though..I think my Grandmothers main reason for saying that was she believed it uncleanly. All Fine and Good..but..umm..what about the invention of Tampons? Well..My Grandmother didn't believe in using those, either. She believed using a tampon was akin to losing your virginity. LOL

OMG Danustouch - you sure our grandmothers wernt sisters? lol
mine ranted and raved for 3 weeks when she found out i had started using tampons - mind you i had been using them for 5yrs by then lol

she had a wives tale that u couldnt look at milk while u were menstruating as it would curdle it

as it was a dairy she grew up on at the top of scotland i always said that that was to get herself out of doing the milking lol

...our Grandmother's were related. My Nan told me the 'curdle milk' theory too - and referred to it as 'the curse' or 'bad blood'. It's amazing how we ever grew up sane!!

Oh..see, now...I heard a differen't version of that one. I heard that to find out if you were evil, you should put a drop of menstrual blood in a bowl of milk. If it Curdled. You were evil. I was just like....ewwwwwwwwww!

sheesh of course milk will curdle if u add blood especially menstrual blood
