I only use one right now, because the rest are packed in a box. I need to pull them out, because the one i have out right now i generally only use when dealing with relationship questions, since it seems to represent them the best. but its not too practical for other things, and i think it tends to romanticise things a little too much...

I have 25 +/- decks and even a few duplicates. I'm glad I'm not alone in my preoccupation with the cards. Like many here I collect them rarely to work with, and mostly for their artistic merit.

I have plans to frame say....all the Strength/Suit Aces/Fool/whatever cards from each of my decks into one large, ornately decorated frame. I think that would be quite a conversation piece with company. I really should just do it...I think the only thing holding me back is removing the 1 card from each deck. What if I ever wanted to use the deck? LOL

I also envision a frame with the major arcana of the Xultan deck all together creating the connected image. That would be cool on your wall, too.

I have always wanted to see that ... the one friend I had with the Xultan deck would always talk about that, but never got around to pulling them out and showing me the tableau.

As far as framing all the Fool cards, or whatever ... how about getting a scan of them and printing it out either on photo stock or glossy paper? If it's really large you can get assemble the scan on your computer and have it printed out at a photo center on poster sized paper.

I am waiting for the mailman to bring me a copy of the Fergus Hall Tarot of the Witches.

This is not a deck I particularly like ... I think the artwork is primitive and not sufficiently expressive for the type of intuitive tarot reading that I do.

However ... this is one of those collectible, you can't pass this up decks ... it's the original 1970s printing in the original box, which says "The James Bond Tarot Game" on it. The back design of the cards has "007" printed in a kind of 70s deco-ish font.

112, each a treasure. I'm a collector and always will be. Each has a persona, a living spirit I would argue. But for serious work I always come back to my two original decks, a 1973 Smith-Waite (Pixie!) and a 1974 Thoth, both worn, creased, and abused -- and I'd never part with them!. The rest I love to look at, handle, use from time to time. My friends always ask for Kat Black's Golden Tarot for their reads (or most of them do). I have everything from Robin Wood to Visconti. I couldn't really pick a favorite, but I always feel compelled to come back to Pixie and Thoth for entirely different reasons!

I have the Rider Waite but it's not mine.. it's dead. I can't get anything off it.. My Main deck is my Mythic Tarot. but it's back home since I've been in the Navy I haven't seen it. I have the Spiral Deck but it doesn't like me.. and than I have the Titania Star Deck. It found me while I was in A school and I use it. Still learning to work with it.

Oddly enough when I do tarot readings for myself on something I use The Halloween Tarot Deck, not that I'm any good at it.

I have the Gilded Tarot but it never took to me. I have the Faery Wicca Tarot Deck but everything is in Irish and I don't understand it all to well. The Mythic Tarot deck is one I had, and liked, but I believe it's been so long some of the cards have been lost and one of the cards was misprinted so there was no back image on it leaving it very obvious as to which card it was.

3 for me. My first was Celestial Tarot that I got from a new age shop in town. It just kind of called to me. However after I joined a local tarot group I was advised to get a Rider-Waite deck because the imagery on mine wasn't standard and would be harder to learn. So I got a little RW mini deck. It fits in a cell phone case and is cute as hell :) I got my third one awhile back from Borders, I was really drawn to the artwork on it but the cards are in a different order (still haven't figured that one out) so I don't do much with it.

I have 2 decks. A Rider-Waite and the Cachet Tarot. The Cachet Tarot was hard for me to learn, so I decided to pick up the Rider-Waite because that was suposed to be easier to learn.

Rider-Waite, or something based on it with finer, usually more detailed, artwork, like The Robin Wood Tarot, The Hanson-Roberts Tarot, or The Connolly Tarot. The Universal Rider-Waite is also good, which is the Rider-Waite art recolored by Mary Hanson-Roberts.

My personal preference is for the Robin Wood, which was my second (of many) decks, but the one I'm most likely to go back to. The best deck, of course, is the one that you like best, and the one that likes you back.

I updated and just put my whole list of Tarot decks and oracles in this thread in my old post!

There have been quite a few new ones coming out in the next few years I've just learned about that I added. Namely:

WildWood Tarot! It's going to be a re-working of the Greenwood Tarot with Mark Ryan and John Matthews (he helped with the original too!) with a whole new artist! I was over the moon to find the new artist will be Virginia Lee, I always loved her art. It's haunting, powerful and potent. She's perfect!

Sidhe-Ra has a new oracle coming out, the Transparent Oracle! Learned about this one last week. It's going to be transparent of course, round and have around 70 cards! I simply cannot wait, this sounds like a keeper :uhhuhuh: She is basing it on the 7 directions with dashes of The Underworld, Faerie, Nature etc. She just barely started so it will be awhile yet. :cutie:

Dragon would be air or Swords; Spiral strikes me as Cups; as Labyrinth....maybe wands, seductiveness and sexuality strike me as a fire trait. Mythic is lovely earth tones. So, which one will you buy for the Major Arcana....?;)

Tarot is based on a 78 (or so) card structure, separated into major and minor arcana.

An oracle deck can contain any number of cards, and does not typically use tarot archetypes to express the meaning.

The Medicine Cards = oracle.

The Medicine Woman = tarot.

I have tons of decks but less than half are tarot decks. I have 139 tarot decks at the minute. I think I have 3 tarock packs--they are neat. I use most of them too, I don't like to see them sitting around or stored away.

Wowweee, that's a lot of decks!! (I have a bunch, some number upwards of 60, I think, but they move around a lot and they are hard to count). Interestingly, we only correspond on about 16 decks, working from memory.

I got that just before it went OOP, I was so lucky. I talked to the artist a couple years ago and he was going to do another edition and maybe put it in a tin, but he doesn't seem to have done that yet. Keep your fingers crossed!

It most certainly does count! Majors only are extremely popular in Europe and many people only read with 22 card decks.

How do you store these Decks? Have you got Silk Wraps for all of them...Do you store them all High up (Where the Energies are said to be clearer). Have you got a Huge Book Shelf with them all in their original Boxes? Do they have their own Room ?

I would not be too far off the mark if I were to suggest you were something of a Collector:)

And the Hardest Question of all perhaps. Which One is your Favourite? Bearing in Mind our resonances with Decks are transitory. Which Deck do you find yourself going back to over the years?

I've been using the same oversized Thoth deck for about a decade now. We are getting to be friends, my humble self and those seventy-two other entities. Don't even let many other people touch them. I find there are to many people with either to much fear or not enough respect to be able to help them anyway. And anyway who am I to offer assistance? I am but a rank amateur.

let's see. I have rider waite but I didn't get along with their energies. Native american tarot by Laura Tuan was my first deck followed by Mystic Dreams (really want another deck of that because it got wet and therefore ruined something that I was most annoyed with) followed by Vision Quest Tarot ---- lovely deck for those who are drawn to NA style decks. And lastly mystic faerie tarot...which I'm going to have to relearn how to use lol because somebody taught me to read them not via intuition. So I guess you could say I'm a bit of a deck collector!

Fenestra Tarot - my first deck, got it because it was beautiful, and I consider it to be my 'learning deck' and the deck I use to read things for friends.

Tider Tarot Deck - got it for travel

Medieval Scapini Tarot - my pride and joy, I found it in the corner of a bookstore at a rennaissance festival and was drawn to it. I use it for the most serious issue, and it is my meditative deck as well.

The first is a faerie deck. I consider it to be my happy deck. It's gives all bad news in a way that is as positive as possible. It's very in tuned with me and it goes into kicks where it refuses to do readings for anyone but me if I have something big I'm trying to work out.

My second deck has manga style art. It's a very neutral deck and is always implementing balance into it's readings. And it's interesting in the way that all the cards that usually have men depicted have women instead and vice versa. The deck also gets into elemental aspects which can give more insight into a translation.

I usually don't use my faerie deck for other people because I know faeries can be kind of vengeful if they're messed with by the wrong people, but when I'm doing a reading for someone I base which one I use on the type of reading I'm doing, and mostly on whichever deck WANTS to be used.

I'm not a collector and tend to only use one deck for reading, though I have the Raider Wait deck for teaching purposes. I have, two Raider Wait, one Thoth and one Arthurian. I also have another deck which isn't exactly a Tarot deck while not being an Oracle deck either it is called The Dream Tarot (not to be mistaken for The Tarot of Dreams) and is quite rear.

My first deck was the Robin Wood Tarot. I really liked it-unfortunately, one of the cards went missing. So I went with a whim and bought Legend: the Arthurian Tarot and have had some nice readings with such.

I'd like to get more but haven't found any special enough.

The Faeries Oracle - My friend bought for me for my birthday a few years back.
I love this deck and probably use it the most often.

The Faery Wicca Tarot - I got this one on my own back when I first started my path. I like it because its rooted in celtic myth, but I don't use it as often anymore because my readings didn't always pertain to the subject at hand. I never got a real connection to this deck.

last but not least...

The Love Tarot - Found it at my work recently (and trust me, that's rare), so I grabbed it to try it out and see how it felt. I'll get back to you on that... :)

I have the Magda Weck-Gonzalez deck, but I would absolutely love to the the Lo Scarabeo deck aswell. I'm not entirely sure why I picked this deck up, but..it was like it called to me. The Lo Scarabeo feels the same, it's very beautiful.

When do you tend to mix it up - as in change your decks? Do you tend to get feelings about readings, as in which deck you should be using? Since I'm a newbie to Tarot, I've been wondering this :)

My decks tend to be very talkative, and make their opinions very clearly known about who wants to come out and play! Some provide clearer answers than others, and I'll go back to those again and again, like my Robin Wood and the Druidcraft. Others I'll choose based on the kinds of questions I'm asking ... The Medicine Woman is really great for deep wisdom, LS 78 Doors for new ventures, or when I'm looking for a perspective for change, Housewives when I need what looks like whimsy but turns out to be a real kick in the butt. I could go on and on and on about that ...

What really happens is I open the cupboard and they jump up and down shouting "Pick me! Pick me!!"

I would have revoted if I knew back whenever I originally replied I'd get so into tarot.

Well, for myself, I feel I'd probably have to split this into two categories: one being decks I bought for myself and one being decks given to me as gifts.

I'd say I have 2-9 decks (I think its 6) that I bought just for myself.

I have three decks (two tarot and one oralce) I got as a gift with gift certificates or someone letting me get a gift for myself for an accomplishment.

I have 6 tarot decks (one of which being one to make my own cards and I need to one day do the time and focus for that) given by my mom.

I know this polls says not to include oracle decks, but its kinda hard to seperate it really (in my opinion) and I have 4 oracle decks total (one as a gift from a good friend.)

I am still looking for good homes/people for the decks I got myself and didn't connect as much with. I think its really hard to know if a deck connects with you until you have it there (and some decks I can only find online, especially one of my favorites that's a Tawainese deck.)

I don't want to speak too soon, but I do feel I'm finally at the point where I've stopped getting myself any tarot or oracle decks (unless one truly speaks to me and/or there's a new one that comes out that I feel extremely drawn to and not just in a "this is neat" fashion.)

I love collecting tarot and various oracles but I'm very difficult, I dislike most decks I see and I just want to acquire what I really really like. I have 12 Oracle decks, but 0 tarot decks.

I don't know why. For some reason I am drawn like a magnet to Oracle Decks, but Tarot decks just do nothing for me at all. Is that weird?

I've tried using Tarot decks before, borrowed some from a friend to sort of try before buying, and no matter which deck I tried I just kept "coming up dry". I'd just stare at the cards and get nothing from my Spirit Guide at all. Maybe he just doesn't like tarot cards? I don't know.

With Oracle decks though, it's just BAM! I touch the cards and he's there and I suddenly know what to say.

I guess I don't do readings traditionally or something, because I know you are supposed to "read" the cards, but for me it's more like I "hear" the cards instead of reading the.

So, in the end I never bought any tarot decks because I did not want to waste my money on something that just wasn't going to "work" using my method. Maybe someday I'll find a tarot deck that "speaks" to me, but for now I'll stick with Oracle decks.
