In the poll above you have two questions {A}&{B}and multiple choices, Being that every alter is a personal extension of a persons faith, you are not bound to only one answer per quesion.

Secondly, what does a druids alter look like? Do you use one?:confused: In this thread you have the opportunity to post a picture and/or explain your alter (if you have one ;) ) to others.

Have fun!

Peace

Or at least the top of it! With my luck in transferring pics lately, I promise nothing.

Ok here it is. Welcome to the exterior of my alter, going left to right as you look at the pic

Blue bottle w/ feather- Symbol of Air, birds, flight, Etc.

sage smudge stick

Crystal eggs- Come on,think. The egg of life! :D

Two crystal & one silver goblet- marriage & ceremonial vessels

Round stone & wood box- charcoal Burner & box of pure golden amber resin incense. Fire symbol + ;) . {Note; this is the only incense I use in full ceremonial and high magick. Buy only the best.}

Gargoyle fountain- Water symbol and meditation device and it just looks so damn cool!

Rag doll- Guardian ward of the alter and Fetish of Wisdom.

Items on the wall- See next post!!!

I'm completely in awe, Twig.

That is very powerful, and suitably impressive!

Not being a druid, I didn't vote in your poll, but my altar is permanent, though ever-changing, and it's my link to the my Gods. It's a lot less impressive, but it's my sacred place, and that's what counts.

But I'm blown away by yours - and it's already giving me a couple of ideas to improve on mine!

Thanks Twig!;)

Now that I know the photo did load. I'll go back and explain it. Mind you the 4 shelves inside hold the 'goodies". ;)

And go ahead and vote in the poll !! Thats why it is there.

Peace,

I'm going to pinch the idea of a moving water feature for my altar - what a great idea! I normally just have a glass bowl with water in that I light floating candles in - and that's suddenly become way too boring!

I always have fresh greenery or flowers on my altar - I have freesias there at the moment because they are my mother's favourite flower, and I'm doing quite a bit of work on our relationship, both in the mundane world (my telephone bill is going to be massive!) and in the magickal.

I have a beaded star I made that hangs over the altar, and a pencil drawing I did of goddess statues (no-one in particular, I was just inspired to draw them one day!). You can spend a fortune on altar stuff - but it's so much more meaningful to spend TIME on it instead.

I do daily devotionals, morning and evening at my altar, and it's simply my place of peace.

-Black flame pot- Symbol of the Sun { Electric for indoor use }

-Picture- The painting itself is a representation of my spirit guide. Hand drawn by Cynthia Cantor while in a trance and in communion with angels. The following is written in the original card. {Scary Note- She had never met me and knew only my name! }

So, ancient one - you are well versed in why you are here and what is to do. No mystery to you.

For you are about the journey of transformation. You are the leader - paving the way - opening the door to the ancient mysteries so many have forgotten.

Your gift is the ability to operate interdimensionally without frightening the masses - no need to know - they feel the Truth.

A path of great joy and discovery awaits you. Great honor to you.

-The 9 runes [3x3 ;)]drawn underneath the pic are a Complete Runic Spirit Reading I created and developed a few yrs back. And booooooy is it accurate.

-My Ministers Ordination Certificate{ Yes, you read that correctly }

[i] at the bottom of the pic there is a glass bowl inside the alter that is filled with sand. Inside that lies my crystals. There is an excalent reason for that and in true druidic fashion, I'll let YOU figure it out.

So sorry but recent experiances in having an 'open' altar have guided me to my current opinion. If you walked into my room you would not have a clue that there was an altar in there unless I was at work,or stupid enough to leave a candle out. Although I am not going to delve into spacifics I will describe my altar with some exceptions. Oh ya I am not a druid.

My altar is mobile light and easy to carry. Wrapped in an altar cloth are my tools, a few tea candles and a Votive Guadalupe candle. I use this on my night stand or on the floor or ground depending, and I set it up much as any altar. In my wrap I have a bottle of (my) holy water two cups and a bowl, a blade a bundle of sage and a lighter, a carved stick (not a wand) some sacred symbols (they are private) a note pad and some paper. I write using a replacement alphabet of runes (cause try as I might writting in mayan glyphs is just a waste of time) and for prayers and such I use Nauhatl (the language) as being heard and understood is worse than being heard and thought insane. :D Once I can have an altar set up perminantly it will be an "Ask nicely and I might not bite your head off. Otherwise ignore it." altar. :D BUt I think my need for massive amounts of privacy will effect even that so...

Well... this might sound strange but my altar is nature itself. I haven't really researched rituals enough and I'm looking to learn Gaelic too before I start performing rituals.
