You can divide dreams into FOUR categories:
*Dreams due to physical problems resulting in nightmares or distorted imagery
*Dreams due to suppressed material, useful with psychoanalytical processes
*Dreams of psychic nature
*Out-Of-Body experiences
Dreams caused by physical problems do in no way relieve these pressures, what they do is notify him/her of the existence of some type of disturbance in the body or environment. The moment your system is back in balance this type of dreaming will cease.
Dreams due to suppressed material is useful when dealing with psychoneurotic individuals, because these people at times can be cured through discussion of his/her suppressed problem. This should not be done alone but with a professional.
Dreams due to physical problems @ suppressed material are not nearly as vivid as psychic dreams or out-of-body experiences. The first two categories are more easily forgotten upon waking unless they are immediately written down. Not so with psychic dreams or out-of-body experiences; one is rarely able to shake them. Some psychic dreams are so strong they waken the dreamer and in most cases the dream remain clear in the memory for long periods of time. The first two categories are usually jumbled and confusing bits and pieces while the other two categories are complete messages or events. Of course their are cases were the categories get mingled together this happens when the dreamer is not fully relaxed or is not a good recipent of external materials.

I'm very good at translating other's dreams, not my own. Here was today's:
I was walking down a street (one that I am very familiar with) and I was walking a direction I don't normally go in. I saw a very scrawny, sickly black wolf slowly manuevering under cars and trucks parked in driveways (it's an old town area so there are lots of driveways and alleyways) I was excited to see a dog (as I always am in real life) and i said out loud "a wolfy!" and proceeded to move around a truck h was hiding under, as I came around the vehicle two guys were walking across the parking lot toward me and I was mildly embarassed but continued to look for the wolf. I found him and he had stuck his nose right up to my face. He had very sad eyes and a dry rough nose. he was thin (underfed) and silent. The scene switched and I was at some kind of kennel or pound and i was inside looking out a window. The wolf was being brought in. Just outside the door were waht looked like skinheads only mountian-men kind of skinheads. They saw the wolf coming in and started hooting and hollaring saying things like, lets get 'em and were gonna teach you not to come round here. The room I was in was sort of a hall and there was another one of those guys standing inside with me. I was getting angry and sad so I turned to run for the other door that was open down the hall and there were boxes and equiptment in my way as well as the other guy. I fought past the boxes and as I got to the door they had the wolf cornered and one of the guys was moving toward the wolf raising a two by four. One of the guys leaning against the door shouted out 'beat 'em down!' Give it to him! I pushed ofreward but couldn't see the wolf over the guys by the door, I saw the wood come down so hard that a piece of it broke off and flew up in the air. There was no sound from the wolf over the shouting and thumping of the wood, I knew I couldn't fight my way through these guys because they were bigger and stronger, but I couldn't st6and there and watch, I wanted to find a way to distract them so I could get to the wolf to get him out. I think I telepathically started a fight between the two guys at the door because they started fighting. This distracted the guys beating the poor wolf. The scene switched and I was again staring the wolf in the face, his sad eyes and dry nose almost touching mine. Next I was in a room full of people sitting at desks. They were trainees for something. I was standing in a line with two people side by side in front of me and an instructor talking to them. The words I heard (as I turned my head to look out the window and saw the wolf walking by) "I can't answer that question but you will know the answer when you find it" and I faded into being awake.
What does it mean? The last phrase was pretty obvious but what about the rest?

Oh phooey, I was gonna say 42 but you figured out that part. ;)
Psychic dreams are really weird, I keep getting more details instead of forgetting them. I think somebody is trying to tell me something.

Here's one I had earlier this week, although I'm hesatent to call it a dream. Because I certainly don't remember being asleep.
I was in the woods (pacific nw ish but more of a high mountain type) in a grassy area (like a alpine medow) with some bear cub(s) when this rather freakishly large Kodiak bear came up stood on his hind legs and let out a rather challenging roar. I didn't want him to eat the cub(s) so I stood up on my legs and roared back at him while brandishing a staff in my right hand. What was odd was that I felt like the momma bear would if a male came by or near her cubs but I was in my own body for the most part. After I yelled (screamed or roared)and gestured violently (like i'ma gonna mess you up no matter what) at the bear he dropped down to all 4rs and walked away.
The odd part was that it was like I was looking through the eyes of said momma bear. All the emotional rage and fear of them being hurt. So if I didn't do something, well that wasn't an option. It was like I was her or had her as a part of me, like a well not shadow, but an almost physical presance. All my sences were realy acute but my vision was normal. Bears can really smell stuff.

This was a vision? If it was a dream I could give you a pretty detailed explaination but as a vision i think you may have been looking through her eyes.

I had a dream the other night, and was wondering if someone can help me figure out what it might mean..Here goes..
I'm with some friends and we were on the planet Mars checking on someone's house (I think the person owned the planet)I also remember it being slightly cold, like they had to turn down the thermostat because the heat outside was so unbearable.
Somehow we got on the subject of the huge crystals that are on mars/or in mars I should say..We were talking about how much more powerful they are than the ones here on Earth.
Some harm, and some heal.
I thought the stones were Amethyst, but I'm not quite sure.
They were purple though.
Then I woke up..

Lol, thats half the problem. I dunno if it was a 'dream' or a 'vision'.
I think you've found the root of your strength through an experience in a "power animal." I'm simplifying but dream or vision, it sounds like this need to protect can be the root of both your fear and your motivation or strength... just a thought.

Mars might represent a place thet is unscathed by man in your mind. Is there a place like this on earth you can think of that might strike you as protected from the virus that is mankind? Perhaps you are in touch with the power of places left alone from man's touch. The house might be a familiar comfort that keeps you safe from the dangers of this untaimed place. The stones are from the nature of this place, not manufactured and again not tainted. Maybe you have a safe place the energizes you that others don't know about, I suggest you make it a point to find a place that makes you feel comfortable safe and energized, go there and meditate. Of course I could be all wrong. It's just an opinion.

Hi all
Has anyone on this website heard of Lucid dreaming?? I've recently bought a book on the subject as i'm plagued with bad dreams.
I have lost many members of my family and friends since 1999 and the ones that have affected me the most (my husband and best friend) are in my dreams all the time.
I understand about normal silly dreams that could just be the mind or subconcious exercising or working things out whilst asleep but these dreams are not silly and they are not about flying pink elephants etc!!
These "real" dreams are driving me absolutely crazy and I only seem to avoid them if I take strong prescription painkillers. As a qualified health professional, I know why this is but as a Wiccan, I want these dreams to stop in a more natural and healthy way.
I would totally appreciate any thoughts or advice from those in the know.
Thanks
Jules:(

I'll hafta meditate on that for a while.

In chinese medicine water is indicitive of the emotion fear. It doesn't mean you are fearful of the water but it could be your element. Do you live near water? Does being around water energize you? Do you have a lot of friends with a lot piercings and/or tattoos? what kind of water? Flowing? Stagnant? Ocean? Lake? River?

I live about an hour from the Ocean. I'm a Pisces, so that helps. As far as the tatts, I have four siblings with them; I also have a lot of friends with them as well....I'm the only one without one! :D
The water was flowing under my feet.....I was under a bridge that was more like a grate, so I could see it all, but not fall in. The last dream I had I was in the shower and it was coming upward from the drain, slowly, pooling around my feet....
It wasn't scary though.

For the past three months I've been having many dreams about my ex-boyfriend I had in college, named Ben. He was from Israel. As time passed, I had these dreams more and more often. Starting two weeks ago, I was having them every night. Now mind you, they were all good dreams, and they were all different. But they all had to do with intimate situations to varying degrees. FOr the longest time I couldn't figure out why I was having these dreams. Actually, today I still can't figure it out. But I have figured out what the connection between them is. You see, the boyfriend I had after Ben raped me many many times over the tow year period of our relationship. So Ben was the last time I felt sexually safe in a man's arms. Even though I've had two relationships since that bad experience. I have since stopped having them altogether. Ironically I've stopped having them since a friend of mine came to visit me and we started having a physical relationship that happens to make me also feel sexually safe. But wither way, the dreams have stoped. SO if anyone could tell me why I was having them at all, I'd be appreciative. I dated Ben about 1995-1997ish. SO it was a long time ago.
Thank you!

Regarding Metagion's dreams: Sounds like quite the cleansing and renewing dream! I think that yo should practice a meditation were yout ravel through water, keep a meditation journal to sort of track what you see and compare it to a dream journal. Apply what you learn to your life as it goes.

Sounds like there may be a part of yourself/someone else that's been underfed or beaten down, like the wolfy.
The men and boxes are forms of obstacles that must be overcome before freedom can be attained.
And when your looking out that (office?) window, and see the wolf walking by...
Maybe that sybolizes a need, or a want to reconnect with nature and your natural, wild self. The wolf within?
Knowing the direction you were walking in (east, south, west, etc.)could help too.
Your path could lead you in the direction you wouldn't normally go..
Maybe you're being called to help a person with a wolf totem..
or wolflike attributes. Or to help the wolves themselves.
These are just my thoughts. I could be waayy off ...

I think you are pretty close to it. My boyfriend is very close to wolves and I am a dog trainer so I'm in touch with pups, I've been very self-sacraficing for the sake of my boyfriend. I give much more than I get from him. I was walking northish. I never thought of tha, good suggestion.

sidney while I am in no way a expert. While reading about your dream I kept feeling that the wolf is you. That you have been beaten, yet walked away. That you view the world at times with sad eyes wondering why ? but I also feel that you are a protector by nature and that you have sought to protect and felt that you failed. The thing about protecting another is that sometimes they have to fail and get hurt to learn.
I dont know if this is the right area but something lead me to this post so I will try.
I have been having repeat dreams that are vivid, they refuse to leave me. The images are like burned into my brain. The first I believe was a vision because I KNOW I was wide awake when it happened. I was talking to my husband and just seemed to snap out. I was watching a show called ambush makeover. This one was in seatle wa. They showed a picture of the needle. and I watched as something hit it or exploded in it. That night I dreamed, I could see the hollywood sign but I was surrounded by pits of tar. I watched as some people dropped this box covered in something sticky into the tar. Than I could see the box clearly, it had a hole drilled into the center of it. It was not overly heavy. The hole that had been drilled was stuff with this sticky stuff. I watched as the box sunk threw the tar and the sticky stuff slowly was eaten away. Until finally that core was all that was left, once that is gone and the tar touches the inside of the box it explodes. I than saw a building, at first it reminded me of the building in washington where abe lincoln sits on that chair. But it felt wrong to me. It had the collums and the stairs but it has lights flashing everwhere and it is very close to the road. I watched as the night became day in a sudden flash.
I have talked to my husband till he is sick of hearing it. He says that the building is in las vegas, a casino. The mirage he thinks. The tar pits are the labraa tar pits. My thing is, I am fearing that I am just reliving things. The needle , makes me think of the towers. My issue is that I had knowledge about 9-11 but I didnt have anything clear, just the feeling of such danger. I called all I knew on staten island and told them something was coming but I could not see it clearly.
The other dream I have been having repeatedly is being under the ground near my home watching the plates under the ground shifting. I have had dreams of the volcanos going off. I live under mt helens, but in my dream it is either mt hood or mt rainer that go off first, than helens and bacholor join in. I know that there is a fifth but I cant see it clearly.
My questions I guess is more does anyone else feel like something major is about to happen? I feel like I am in a pressure cooker and the lid is about to go.
lady bless and thank you for your time,
clouds

You can divide dreams into FOUR categories:
Interesting. What about dreams that are *just* "brain working away through events and subjects experienced in one's life, which can be psychoanalyzed but don't involve neuroses or problems". In other words, I find most dreams are just the brain processing information while the conscious is asleep, which can be understood through examining one's own symbols and psyche, but aren't indicative of any problems. Usually they don't point to any problem and are just kooky ways our brain processes things in our life.
What are your thoughts?
