Spell advice for a delicate situation

Hello all - My coven has an unusual situation on our hands and I am hoping for some advice. A close friend of ours (non-pagan but pagan respecting) has a grandaughter (two and a half) at the center of a very messy custody battle. The mother - our friend's DIL- absconded with the little girl. The DIL has emotional problems and has been known to be violent. They were both missing for several weeks but have been found and now a legal quagmire is brewing. We became involved when our friend consulted a reputable psychic who advised her that she had witches close to her who could help.
We have cast a Gaurdian Angel spell for the little girl, and done work toward justice in court. My question is, is there anything else we can do? We certainly do not want to cause anyone harm, but we want to do everything we can to bring this child back into a situation where she is safe and has a chance at happiness. If anybody has suggestions for rituals or prayers, please post.

So, as I take it...The coven is more or less friends (because of the parent/grandparent?) of the mother of the child. But they are unsure if they should help the mother, get custody because she is unstable?

Well, you already are working for the bet interest of the child. The only thing I can think of that might make you and her content is if you help her get 'stable'. Help regain mental health.

i have a protection/courtcase spell i used for a friend, it helped out with emotional burden and such matters related to court....

Tools: Pink candle, Blue candle, Yellow Candle, Orange Candle, Sandalwood and sage incense, Pure charged water (not tapped, water from the sky or if neccesary from an aquarium), Salt or Dirt, 2 Dried Eucalyptus leaves, 1 slice ginger root, a pinch dried mint leaf, and a personal object of the person(s) the spell is to help such as a small piece of clothing or a snippet of hair or nails, etc... Mix ingredients in cauldron or small bowl. and light incense off of blue candle.

Draw and pool energy

Those that are here for protection
seek out the soul that cries in the night.
stay with this soul til its plight and hurt are gone from this world.
may this so be bright and light
as the God and Goddess so first planted.

save the solution from the cauldron in a bottle
which she should bring with her to court and wear like a perfume.

Do this ritual as often as you feel until the hardship has passed.

The thing about mentally unstable people is they can always throw unexpected wrenches into the best of plans....I would also suggest binding her in a way that prevents her causing harm to the child (for the violence), or anyone else for that matter.

I remember reading somewhere that if you carry a "John the conqueror root" in your pocket in the courtroom this is said to be good for justice...
