View Full Version : Time Twins Or Some Weird Synchronicity?

Although this thing started out quite some time ago, it was recently brought to my mind again when I read about Time Twins. Apparently there's this phenomena where two people who are born in separate families share strikingly similar characteristics and occurrences in their lives, sometimes having things occur to them on the same date.

I think I might have either a time twin or a double of sorts living in the same country as me.

It all began about a year ago, when I went to a meditation event. Taking the opportunity to get to know more people, I approached a bunch of ladies who seemed to be rather nice at a casual glance. I went up and said "hello", but instead of some kind of courteous reciprocal greeting, all I got was a weird, silent stare from some of the members of the group. I walked away from them wondering if I had approached them at the wrong time or something.

About 10 minutes later, a friend of mine managed to get into a conversation with one of the ladies. She then waved for me to come over. Strangely enough the lady she was talking to seemed okay talking with me. Since it wasn't anything major, I didn't think anything of my previous encounter with the group.

Then the lady asked me a rather odd question, "Do you by any chance know Elle?"

Now, Elle (not her real name) is a rather well-known wiccan in my country. I was a little bit puzzled as to why I was asked this question since I gave no indication that I was interested in wicca at all.
“No. Do you know her?”

Well, apparently my question opened up a whole can of worms. The lady did know Elle and so did all of her friends. And apparently they didn’t part on the best of terms.

Some weeks later, I visited a wiccan store in the city area. Now, stores that cater to the wiccan/pagan crowd are a rarity in my country so I was naturally curious when one opened up near the city centre. It was a very nice shop, very tastefully done up, as I was walking around inside, one of the store owners approached me and started a conversation. After a few sentences, he stopped and asked, “Say, do you know Elle?”

“Er… no, I don’t think I’ve ever met her.”

He smiled and we continued talking. But I didn’t think anything of it.

A few more weeks passed before I heard about Elle again. This time, it was at a dinner appointment with a psychic. I had never met the guy before, so I walked into the café wondering how I was going to identify him. Well, I had no problem because he identified me instantly.

We talked for a bit before he asked, “Do you know Elle?”

By this time my eyebrow was twitching. “You know, quite a lot of people have asked me this same question recently. Why are you asking?”

“Well, you and her share an uncanny resemblance…”

I was… stunned to say the least. I said, “Really… just how much of a resemblance do I have to this… Elle?”

Apparently, I not only look like her, but we both have the same hairstyle, the same dress sense, the same gestures and mannerisms, heck… even the same table manners as the psychic pointed out. Apparently he was a good friend of hers for many years. Then they had a big falling out… (it seems to me that's some kinda of pattern... at least with the people I met so far.)

We apparently also share quite a lot of distinct personality traits… except I was the “friendlier” version.

After my dinner with the psychic, I finally understood all the reactions I’d been getting from the local wiccan community. There was this urge to go find that woman and tell her to stop dressing in my clothes! (As unreasonable as that might sound… Can you imagine there’s someone out there who dresses and talks exactly like you!)

However, I never ever managed to meet up with Elle. I guess its as they say, no karma. I joked with friends about being “switched at birth” because I don’t look anything like my sis at all. Well, I really really don’t think its anything as drastic as a hospital mix-up, I kinda wonder if it might be something to do with this time twin thingy, since I am told that Elle is around my age.

What do you think? Time twins? A long lost relative? Or some weird synchronicity?

Not sure, but people look at me strangely and tell me I look like someone they know all the time. One day a total stranger asked how my sister was, I said I'm afraid I don't *have* one, you must have me confused with someone else.

Makes me wonder why I, being as shy and introverted and likely to stay home as I am, am so constantly told "you look familiar".

Hmmmmm actually I recently found out from a friend that according to the geneticists, that given the number of people on this planet and the possible DNA combinations, there should be about 6 people who look like us. I guess that it might be possible for at least one of the 6 to be living near us.... the chance increases if most of the people in our community share similar genetic roots.

But personally, I like the idea of it being something more paranormal...:D
