View Full Version : Bitten by Rabbit, Bitten by Horse

I have searched online quite a bit, but really can't find anything useful about these two dreams on two nights. I'm hoping someone can help me out!
Unfortunately, I really can't remember many details at all. Sunday night I had a dream that a rabbit was hanging around my legs, and I think I was pretty happy about that, because I love rabbits, and I've been exploring the possibility that Rabbit might possibly be a totem of sorts for me, whereas I had thought for quite some time that Deer may be my primary totem. I'm still not sure. In any case, suddenly, the rabbit started biting my leg, then looking at me and biting again! It hurt, too! That's all I can remember, but it's pretty vivid.
I sort of wrote it off as probably nothing to really dwell on.
But then last night I had a similar, can't-remember-much kind of dream, wherein a horse nipped me. Then I dropped something and went to pick it up, and the horse nipped me again. It wasn't agitated, I don't think, it just kept nipping me whenever it could. I was a bit more scared in this one, and again, it hurt.
Earlier this year I had a dream in which I was bitten by a Groundhog.
I adore animals, talk to them, treat them as friends - I don't even eat meat. So why do they keep biting me? It's pretty funny in a way, but I can't help think it's time I look into what being bit might mean.
Help?

be health cautious. kinda sounds like the very thing you love is going to turn on you and not in an attack sence either mind you. there are certain nutrients found in meat that i swear can not be found in vitamins or vegetation. the gods put animals on the earth not just for beauty, but for a variety in nourishment. there is something ive noticed, almost every vegetarian i know in person has more physical problems then those who eat both plants and animals such as taking longer to heal from a broken bone, torn muscle, or even being sick with the common cold.
this is just my opinion, but to respect an animal, is in not wise to respect it to its fullest extent?
that, and im a plants rights activist. those poor little plants dont even have legs, they dont even stand a chance at trying to run away from those who are out to kill it! :wah:

This part of your post is an interesting take (the rest of your post - well, we can agree to disagree! ). I have been vegetarian for quite some time (and practically so before that), and my health has not been affected negatively by it. I also quit smoking over a month ago, so I hope my health on an upswing. It's been years since I've even had a cold.
Doesn't mean I won't ever need supplements, though - I suppose it could be a nudge toward that (that being the supplement aisle). Huh.

It could also mean that there is a force, an energy, in your life that is trying to tell you something and for whatever reason has not been able to 'get your attention.' The concept of animals biting you (especially the rabbit) leads me down a path toward some nature- or country-oriented source.
It could point to a slowly-growing danger present somewhere near you, something that on the surface is relatively innocuous, but that your subconscious is picking up on the radar.
If you live in California maybe there's an earthquake coming...just kidding...well, kind of...

I live on the other coast (the East one) so I'm really hoping that's not it (the Earthquake, I mean)!
Hmmm... this is some good stuff to think on. Thank you, dragoncrone!

it sounds to me like these animals are trying to get your attention for you to start down a new path of transformation wether that be spirtual, life or emotional. Most especally the rabbit which has become my personal totem of self transformation/courage, I've felt so connected to them I got a rabbit tattooed to my wrist. Rabbits are some of the most enudring creatures around, as well as tricksters so the path they are trying to direct your attention to won't be an easy one. It requires cunning, and bravery.
The horse biting you tends to tell me that you better hurry and seek this path out swifty, it also seems to say that you will have a faithful compianion in the journey you must take up and you will adpat well to this change of life whatever it maybe.
Hope this helps. :)

Thank you, Sothis - that does make sense. Rabbit has kept making appearances this year - horses too, but in a much different way than Rabbit - and I guess I do feel that a spiritual crossroads has come about lately.
Really interesting things to think about, everyone. Thank you all for taking the time to help me out!

I agree with Sothis*Crowfeather's interpretation, espically that the horse is offering to help on the journey.
I think that interpretation of SpiritAnimals has to include the biological realities of the animals irl as well. Persistant nipping isn't a warning of danger--rushing and pushing is more the body language of 'don't go there' or 'look out'.
Nipping has 2 facets (imo):
It's what animal mommies do to train their young away from 'naughty' behavior, or to make the littles pay attention when they are distracted.
It's what domestic animals do to their humans to signal that the end of acceptibility is being reached and if the human persists that they will bite/attack. Sort of 'I would have bitten you just now but I respect you so I'm nipping you first'.
So I wouldn't posit an earthquake, but a metaphysical crux where the possibility of 'wrong' action is high. Or the Path of Right Action is difficult or hard to perceive.

skilly, you rock. That is to say, I think you're right on the proverbial money - I never would have put the nipping in that context, yet it seems to make perfect sense.
I have an inkling of what they might be trying to correct me on, I'm just not sure why. I guess.

i'd have to say skilly is on the money. do you have any idea what you dropped in the horse dream? maybe the horse is trying to tell you to drop something.

I'm pretty sure I dropped a notebook and pen. Don't remember what was in the notebook, though it's probably not important.
