Hi guys :weirdsmil

I was the president of my alma mater's pagan student alliance last year, and one of the things I tried to do was to expose the members to different groups (we had an interfaith picnic with the Eastern Orthodox Christians and held discussions on Discordianism and Kemeticism, for example - didn't get to do nearly as many as I'd liked to have done, only so much time in a year). This fall, I'm helping the girl who was voted in as president to get acclimated, and I'm gathering information on the various Autumnal festivals of September right now.

So, Do ya'll have any suggestions of sites, books, etc on Hausblot (Fallfest)? I'd really appreciate it.

Most of what I'm finding through Google is either a) in a Germanic language (and my German is that of a 2 year old. 8O ) or b) incredibly brief.

I've gathered that it's a home/family/community blessing and Asatru.org says it's a time for offering a Blot to Odin.

I'll happily accept any personal gnosis you'd like to share as well.

Thank you in advance.

ETA: I found the term hausblot in a disreputable source: I'm trying to find out more about Winter Finding. *grumbles about being tired and not researching when she should be asleep because she makes stupid mistakes* :D

Timelessmyths.com only had this.

Fallfest September 23 A minor festival marking the day of Autumn equinox. It was a day to commemorate the bountiful harvest.

I also mainly came up with results in German.

Ya, my Asatruar friend told me that it's not really a holiday that was widely celebrated by Northern peoples. It might have been different from community to community, but it wasn't a BIG day, like Yule. Due to that, my group is making this just a really informal day to eat and be merry together and we will each honor a god during our feast.

Okay cool.
all my Asatruar friends have been like pretty baffled by my question. LOL It's obviously pretty minor in the calender.

Thanks you two. :D I appreciate it.

I don't know about Fallfest, but "hausblot" would be something like "house blot", a blot being, of course, a ritual with a blood sacrifice... so, Blessing of the House?

Yep, it's not a particularly big Heathen feast day.
