The festival of Kwan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy(known
as Kwannon in Japan), the Great Mother of China, is
celebrated on this day with offerings of incense and
visits to her shrines. "The Lady who Brings Children,"
Kwan Yin embodies all that is female of the universe.
She sits in her lotus throne and contemplates the
golden vial of her own womb, which gave forth the
entire world.
This day is dedicated to the goddess of tolerance and
mercy. A more sedate version of the same idea: female
sexuality as the lifegiving force Asian style. Think about
how important it is to bear healthy, happy children.
How often is it that we have children with birth defects
or weak constitutions?
Today, more than ever, we need to appeal to this
magnificent great spirit who brings us the future.

Thank you for telling me about this Holiday! I have an antique Kwan Yin statue who loves to get flowers, that has been in my family for about 10 years now!
