I am really interested in learning how to belly dance. The area in which I live doesn't offer any classes in this type of dance. I was just wondering if anyone has any useful links to sites on bellydancing or any tips on videos or books that are informative. I live in a fairly small town in eastern Canada so there aren't many places for information.
Anything will be a help!

I cant find any links either or anything.
Have you tried looking for bellydancing on yahoogroups?
You might find something there.

This looks like an interesting link: http://www.zilltech.com/
it has some on-line lessons, but as she says, you can't learn online :) She has some other links - maybe there'll be something in your area..

I take Bellydancing through the district school board here... it is a Continuing Education class, and they have qualified instructors and it's super cheap... in fact I just might be performing on the Toronto Fringe Festival this summer!!!

Maybe they have something like that where you live?

try these links for some info...

Has anyone purchased any of the belly dancing video tapes? I know they sell wone through the Pyramid Collection, but I've been hesitant to order.

If you haven't taken lessons I would suggest even getting the theory before venturing on your own. The tapes are good, but if you don't know how to properly do the moves you can seriously hurt your hips, back and / or knees.
I do not use the videos, so I can't help you there, I just wanted to help you no tto get hurt... maybe check out the URLs in my previous email... do they have any videos for sale?

Hi all. My daughter has been a belly-dancer since she was nine-years old (she's 28 now). She has taken lessons in person and watched several tapes. I think one of the ones she likes best is by Atea, but I will try to check and see if I am right that she recommends this one. I did a quick look using Google.com search engine and found this site:

I was really hoping that there would be a belly dancing class somewhere near my home and I was at the fitness centre on Tuesday and..............there it was............an advertisment for belly dancing lessons! I signed up right away and most of the others in ballet class did too!
Funny how things work...........
