Do not adjust your set. Your computer is fine.

You may have noticed that the private message system doesn't work. We're on it. This might continue for a couple days.

Use other methods to communicate.

Sorry.

Any idea how long this will continue? Are we to have an explination of what is happening to the pm system? Can we be asured that laws of privacey are being maintained while we have no access to our private messages?

No one is violating any rules of privacy, or doing anything illegal, nor are we selling your information to marsians. :) It'll be a while longer, unfortunately, and we are sorry for any problems this is causing or may cause.

*nods* thank you for your assurance on the privacy side of things. :)

A while longer doesn't really help me though :( I'm waiting on a pm from a student I don't have their email address and I don't even know if they have been able to get my last responce. Just an idea of time period would help a lot. No explination of what is happening to the system?

I'm not technically well versed enough to understand the gobbledygook, much less explain it to someone else. ;) You might be able to email her through the system, but if she didn't get to read the pm before the pms went down than she won't be able to read it until it comes back up. I have a whole bunch of pms that I can't read either.

I've never heard of PMs being down without other portions of the site experiencing difficulties. How odd.

In any case, everyone needs to realize that PMs will eventually be made available again, so whatever is postponed is only, well, postponed. Just saying. Chill.

Actually, other sections are acting odd. For instance: If I click on my user CP, my subscribed threads that have new responses may or may not show. Now, I double check by clicking on "View all subscribed threads".

I have also been haveing a little trouble getting to the site, but it seems all message boards have had that problem for the last week.

I know I don't reply much, but it seems odd to be gone for 14 hours and see that there were less than 200 posts during that time, so others must be haveing trouble getting in too.

Sure, I'll miss the PM's but I bet they and a few other quirks are tied together.

Mol - Good luck makeing it all work again! We know you can!

I was mostly worried about the fact that I have a lot of very personal and private letters from my past sudents and present ones. Personal details which were entrusted to me as part of the course which they didn't want to make in public on the board posts. Like wise I do readings for people which are often of a very private and personal nature. Sometimes I forget to clear out my sent folder (infact I haven't done that for a while) my rules as a reader are confidentiality unless stated otherwise by the person reciving the reading.

While I can wait for the rest of the stuff that is current and in there I was just a little conserned that my students confidentiality might be breach. Since you have told me that is not the case I am content to wait for the time being, but an indication of some kind as to how long I need to wait would help me in regards to sending other pm'ed readings and the like out which I have waiting on my hard drive at the moment.

Can we have an explanation for the tech-savvy please - I sense a lot of paranoia surrounding this.

No, you can't. It's being provided on a need to know basis, and you don't need to know. ;)
