Ok I am finally getting around to doing pics and you all are getting them even before family. lol But in a sense you all are family too.

Now, we are living in base housing on an Air Force installation so the homes for the most part all look the same and you get a unit according to your families size. We have 2 adults & 2 children so we got a 3 bedroom 2 full bath unit. Living on base you don't have rent or any monthly payment, water & electricity are also free. That's for this base, some military installations are starting to charge rent in newly built houses because people think because it's free they can trash them. You are liable for all damages. We were lucky to get an fully renovated house because not all houses here have been remodeled. So ours has new paint, flooring & all new appliances.

The houses aren't much to look at from the outside here because they are built for typhoons as you can see, storm shutters and all. Now all we need is a generator for all the power outages.

These 1st set of pictures are of the outside. We have no foliage other than the 3 palm trees dropping coconuts in the back yard. So I'll have all the yard to plant.

These pics are of the main inside areas. I really like my kitchen here (love the lighting) and the little window in the livingroom wall.

I'm open for any suggestion on how I can witch out these areas. I already have a 36in cinnamon broom on the way that's going to stand in the foyer in the corner next to the front door.

Oh and all the furniture you see here (not much tho) is loaner stuff from base, our stuff is still in the Pacific somewhere on a boat.

Wow...gorgeous house! Its like a blank canvas...little artistic me is jumping up and down right now.
I love that kitchen bar! You should really use that as a center point for the dining/kitchen area. Maybe add some candles along the sides and some herbs above it (or on the side).
:hugz:

Minerva, yeah I know, so far it's just the 1 tall white candle and my new aloe plant I got last weekend on the bar. I have a planter of catnip starting on the back patio. I can't find seeds to grow herbs here, all I find is catnip and dill. I need seeds!

Wow, nice house! I could live there!
You might have to get your seeds on line, but before you order you should find out if there are any restrictions on what you can grow. Some places won't let certain 'foreign' plants be grown.

Good Luck with the house!

I love all the little "window" cut outs in the walls. For the main "window", between kitchen and dining room, you could get some of those little C hooks that you screw in to the ceiling....screw them in to the top side of the opening and you could hang herbs, or little witchie / viking ornaments or stained glass pieces or whatnot. That would be very cool. Same for the archway between your entry way and dining room - you could put a little bowl with potpourri and add protection herbs on the sill of the little arched opening. Next to the bowl, you could lay down some crystals or stones in a nice little arrangement, or another little bowl or plate. Never hurts to lay down a little protective mojo in a new place! If you've got any weaponry, mount it on the walls!!! The little counter in the kitchen, beneath the large opening (where your phone is)....you could put a little hearth & home altar right there. Some health & wealth charms for the family - have everyone make one. A desk fountain would be nice, if you like those, with some crystals or herbs or any small statuary you like of any patron gods of you or your family. I have an island/peninsula in my kitchen (it juts out from one wall) and I decorate it for every season with a piece of fabric, and on top of that I put candles and seasonal decorations. I know you're in the sunny climes, but you could down some "seasonal" stuff to remind the kids of home and mark the passing of time. I'll post more as I think of it.

Thanks to all who have replied, we are enjoying it although it is abt 600 or more square feet smaller than the house we just sold and moved from so it'll be interesting how all our stuff will fit when it gets here next month, and we're not pack rats at all.

We do have a mostly green area rug we could use in there when it gets here. I have this large antique looking, framed copy of Monets' water lillies that I always hang in the dining room. No candle holders but I'll look for some.

Good ideas, I was also thinking of hanging a witches ball in one of those spots too. I'm trying to find one online I like. And I was already planning to make a withy hearth or altar area on that counter under the bar. Thanks and keep them coming.

you need to put up a vé or a horg, make it feel a little more like home, give you something to make offerings to without worrying it's being too conspicuous.

What a great house!

What's really amazing is looking at the first set of pics of the outside of the house, and then seeing the inside. From the outside, it's very modest and you'd think it would be basically boxlike inside. But you get to the inside, and they've used really nice architectural details to open things up and give the place a great atmosphere. Love the kitchen, too! Lots of counter space! They've really provided you with a fantastic place to raise your kids... it seems like it will be a happy place to live. :-)

I know, I'd love to. I've been thinking about that, not sure what I'll come up with.

Thats a good way to look at it. This kitchen has 15 drawers among all the cabinets plus a pantry. I'll never fill it all. lol I'm loving all that potential storage space.

Oh I forgot to reply about this part, I'd love to do seasonal decorations, but it'll be a challenge. I barely have any and the stores here don't carry stuff like that. I couldn't even find Halloween decorations other than a few tacky scary things. Theres a Ben Franklin crafts here so I'll have to check it out and see what I can put together. The only thing I'm really bummed about here is that I have to order most everything. Theres shopping here but it's geared to fashion for the tourists or asian & island home decor. (And no occult shops) Which isn't bad but I'm more into German decor. When we get our other car I'm going to start hitting some places to see what I can aquire.

I know, I'd love to. I've been thinking about that, not sure what I'll come up with.

Where my parents now live my father made a ....ahem..."bird-bath" as he calls it, it's a nice sized piece of flat slate on top of about 3-5 other, rounder rocks. I got into a discussion with him and when I mentioned it he asked "a what?", when I pointed to it and told him the vé he looked at me with this puzzled look and said "you mean the bird-bath?". I replied...."mmhmm, bird-bath, whatever you say pop".

My wife and I laughed, my old man is a closet heathen and he don't even know it....

I agree with everyone here. Your house has a nice layout, its clean and new looking. Very pretty and modern. But it needs some colour. Wow look at all those white walls. I'd go crazy :T

Nice house.... We live in Govt. Housing as well. That whole rent charging thing is really someting, since we ALL already pay rent. Only it's called BHA (=Base Housing Allowance) which is, depending on the rank quit a chunk of money. My Husband is a TSgt, and his BHA is almost $1200. OUr housing untis are old so a lot of people move away and use their BHA for an Off Base house as rent!

We didn't do it because my Husband might retire next year...

But I'm glad that you guys got to move in such a beautiful house. But more than that - I envy the weather that you have!

Good luck down there....

That's why we moved off post at Ft Leonardwood, the housing was definitely substandard, our BAH covered our mortgage exactly. So other than the utilities & improvements it was llike the house was free and then when we sold it we made a good profit.

Yes the weather is nice but I'm already missing fall.

Mmmm, potato soup  I love making big batches of it in the winter - I live off it for days, lol. Especially with little oyster crackers on top. Nothing says german food like potato soup!!! Hm, I wonder if you could get some nice little Tudor-style window paning on your house...I know it's really a British style, but Tudor houses always make me think of German architecture.

Mmm and the last batch of potato soup I made came from a recipee out of my German cookbook and it was barely any different than how I already make it lol

I don't think I'm familiar with the Tudor-style your referring to? Or I do and I just didn't know what it was called.lol British stuff is good too because I've got a lot of English in my blood on top of the Belgian & German.

My advice; take up scuba diving.

And Navy housing is nice. Lots better than Army housing.

Oh yes I've always loved that style architecture. Didn't know that's Britian too, I only knew the Germans did that. We can't do any permanent changes to the house tho.

Our household goods are here, yay! They arrived on the island on the 11th, cleared customs and are being delivered tomorrow. We are thrilled to be getting rid of this loaner furniture, it fill finally feel & look like home instead of a hotel suite. We've missed our bed, these loaner mattresses have been killing our backs.
