From Preconception, to Birth, what aromatherapy oils can be beneficial to a woman? This article gives great information, including the history of use of some of these scents. Enjoy :)

Be Careful, Silver Venus. If I were you, I'd contact an herbalist or a midwife, and double check, to make sure you are using these herbs in the right dosages. Ya know? Never can be too careful!

Thanks Danus, I know what you mean as every book and person says something different. Ive done a course on Aromatherpy and got quite a few books but know you can never be too careful so I called up my Aromatherapy teacher (it had been 3 years!) and asked her for the ammounts safe to use and she said a few drops of each would be fine in 200ml of carrier oil :)

A wonderful book- Aromatherapy for Mother and Baby by Allison England. This covers preconception to labor to postpartum/infancy and is just terrific. With Kid #1 I used the pregnancy massage oil blend, the indigestion oil blend... etc. One tip that I also would like to pass on that I got from this book is to use jojoba oil as a perineal massage. I did that with Kid #1 and still ended up with an episiotomy, but didn't with #2 and ended up tearing badly. (not trying to scare anyone!!). I also brought lavender oil and washcloths to help me relax during labor.

HUGS to all you moms to be!

YAY!!! I am so glad you like it- I thought it was just wonderful and had so much great information. It is nice to be able to pamper yourself when pg too. It almost makes me want to get pg just to use some of the suggestions. Nah, just kidding. :p

I got a copy of the book for my SIL when she was pg and made up the preganancy massage oil for her too. I don't think she really got into the book, but she loved the oil.

I am so excited for all of you moms- to be!
