For those of you that believe in animal totems, animal guides ect... or
anyone who just wants to read my jabber.
I've just recently discovered my animal totem. Its the Crow. At
first I found finding mine was really hard. I had preconceived notions
about what my should be- a cougar, a tiger, or a lynx. That made it
really hard. Finally, I got to the point where it didn't matter what my
animal guide was, as long as I knew. I did a mediation again (found
here:http://www.serioussilver.com/totemenergy/abouttotems.html ) and
found a crow. I talked to it for a moment, then asked it to show up in
my daily life, and dream. I asked it to leave a feather in my yard.
On my hikes through the woods, I've noticed that a crow seems to
always follow me. I see it fly from tree to tree as I walk, sit, and
meditate. I was coming home from and area in the woods behind my house
that a friend and I named 'Diana's Temple', and something caught me eye.
I say a black crows feather in my yard. I was incredibly thrilled, as
you can imagine.
Well, any ways, that's my experience with a topic with is very
fulfilling to me. What are some of your experiences with animal totems,
animal guides ect.
Brightest Blessings,
Wynter

Hi all!
This is an interesting subject.I don't know what my totem/spirit animal is.But I've been buzzed by a hawk twice recently.Usually they're way up high.Once I was walking my dog in a wild area in the middle of my neighborhood. The hawk flew down and buzzed right over our heads.A beautiful creature,it looked rather golden inthe sun.In the same place, same day my dog rounded a corner and crossed a small creek,we found 2 trees full of cardinals. It was a really beautiful sight.
The other time I was driving with a relative to a friends house kind of out in the boonies a ways.A hawk got right in front of the hood of our Camaro and seemed to glide there,we were doing about 40mph but it looked as if the hawk was stationary at the front of the grill.I was scared we'd hit it,then it took off.It too, looked a golden color in the sun.I felt it was trying to tell me something.
Hey Mystique! You should check out the Goddess Epona if you haven't already.

:) I knew that my totem/spirit animal was the owl a long time ago, and I am also partial to snakes. Funny enough, I knew my animals before I knew my Matron Goddess; Athena. :)

Birds have always been there for me, weather it was a crow, hawk, or a flock of birds but i guess i love nature too much to pick just one totem, even other animals have helped me to accomplish something, dogs, cats, squrrels (did i spell that right?) and deer.
I had questions and there was always some animal there with an answer.

My totems are a Great Canyon Owl, a Bobcat and a Bear. I already have the cat tattooed to my right arm (my Avatar is a pic if my cat tattoo) and I have three more planned this year, one is a Greenman back piece, the other is a red bear claw over my heart and the third is a Great Horned Owl (Canyon Owl is just a local name) that will be in a yet to determined place.
My Totems came to me while in deep meditation or in dreams. The owl and the cat came in meditation ... I practice Kundalini meditation, very intense stuff ... and the bear came in a recurring dream of a bear chasing me then catching me and putting his paw on my chest, leaving a red mark.
The Owl is my wisdom, the cat is my stealth and the bear is my compassion. All of my totems are solitary animals and this helps me when I am alone. I never feel lonely because I have my spirits always and I also have my 3 cats who are also my children. :)
My empty space is also filled with dear and loving friends and hopefully someday soon, a new companion. :)

I used to date a Shaman Woman. Some of us gathered in a room and the lights were turned out. Drums started to beat. It was pretty intense. Through meditation, I discovered my "Power Animal". To my suprise it was a humming bird.
In my vision (and please don't take this to offense, Wynter), a hummingbird approached me and it seemed that it wanted me to follow. I was completely swept away and, when we arrived at it's nest, there was a Crow or a Raven. The little bird fought well and defended the nest. That's when I knew.
Other then that, I too have a cat. Her name is Bear. She and I are companions and she is always at my feet - even now as I type.
Blessings,

This should mostly likely go under bad jokes but I had to share.
The difference between a crow and a raven is the the crow has eight pinion feathers and the raven has nine.
It's just a matter of a pinion.

My animal totem ...........
I have always been attracted to cats...Of all kinds! and especially large cats Panthers and the White Tigers
Also the wolves joined the Cleveland Zoo society to sponser the arrival of our wolve village where they can now live care free and I can watch
Not sure why I have always had a fear of birds! Any suggestions why? Even as a newborn, my grandmother says I was terrified

I'm sort of groping here. Birds are generally shy - depending on the variaty - and most practice avoidance. When threatened, though, they can become very vicious and unrelenting. Take the Mocking Bird; this critter will go after people, cats, dogs, I even watched two take on a Redtailed Hawk. It is fearless when it feels threatened. Perhaps as a very young child you had been attacked by one?
Just a thought,
RnR
