I don't really understand this at all. I just moved, I've really got myself turned around, its almost 7 months free of E.D.'s and cutting, I'm really happy now, but I'm staring to have an anxiety attack. I have NO REASON to be acting like this, but I just have that weird feeling in my chest, my hands are shakey, I feel like I've got this lump in my throat, and I am so freaking tense.... I've always been able to pinpoint a root cause ( even if it was lame) for this reaction, and I will admit this is one of the "easier" ones I've had, but I just don't know why this is still happening. I'm so freaking confused! How can I be happy and having an attack at the same time? Has anyone else ran into this problem?

:hugz: Firstly, congratulations on all your achievements over the last several months. You have clearly gone through a lot and managed to rise above it.
As for your current anxiety - I don't have anxiety myself, but I am close to someone who does. Healing is never a straight line - there are always little setbacks and plateaus along the way, and sometimes it will seem like these symptoms are very stubborn and hard to get rid of entirely. Sometimes the body simply isn't used to feeling normal, and the human body doesn't like change any more than many of us do, so the symptoms will return temporarily.
My advice, based on my friend's experiences - don't overanalyze it (as that will simply cause more anxiety). Breathe deeply and focus on your inner balance. Meditate if you can. Know that your healing of the past several months has not gone away, that this is a temporary setback, and will be gone soon. Focus on your successes, and on your healing, and remember that you are strong and can control this.
:hugz: I hope you feel better soon.

You should get yourself checked for thyroid disorders. If you happen to have a hyperthyroid condition, it can be difficult to diagnose because your hormone levels fluctuate from day to day, so if you happen to have an okay result you should get it re-checked two or three more times just to be sure. The reason I mention this is that you can have symptoms similar to what you're mentioning, and it turns out that it's all thyroid related. Don't put it off; my own thyroid condition went undiagnosed for so long that I almost died from what is called a "thyroid storm" before they finally figured out what was happening. (In my case, I was going through cancer treatments so the doctors were a bit distracted, but still, they should have picked up on it from the kinds of symptoms I was having. It's likely that I had the thyroid problems *long* before I ever had cancer.)
Get yourself checked - your anxiety could simply be an excess of thyroid hormones in your body, making you toxic.

Brightshores: Thank you. I'll try and work on meditation. I guess I should know by now healing is a slow process. :-)
StephanieAine: Wow, never even thought about that. I've got an appointment for regular checks in about a week, I'll bring it up then. Thank you so much! Good luck with your health.

I am proud of you for getting better. That is hard to do :weirdsmil
Anxiety is one of those feelings where there doesn't have to be a reason for it to happen. Sometimes it just does. It could be a medical thing or maybe your body's natural reaction, a way of coping with something [ even if you can't figure out what that may be ] There are things you can try to help anxiety...
1) Go rent a movie. It will take over 45 min of time from you thinking and feeling anything. We tend to loose our self in movies. Isn't great :cutie:
2) Have a cup of tea, sit out on the deck, drink it, breathe in and think about the negative things going on with other people such as.. there are termanilly ill people who wont live to see weeks from now. Use this to pray for them and to appreciate what you have.. your healthy now. Think about the good things in life like nature and seasons and the scents of perfumes and pretty patterns on dresses.
3) Call someone when you feel blah and anxious. Talk for an hour on the phone and have some laughs.
If you want to try something less simple, you can ask your pharamacist for herbal suppliments that can lessen the attacks.
