View Full Version : Why, why, why???

So, I've been trying to use a few more knick knacks in my daily works, and I've run into some roadblocks. I was hoping some of you fine people here would engage in a learning discussion with me.
Now, I've bought a nice yellow jasper pendant which attracted me in a store, and then started looking into its mystical 'properties'. This sounds like a nice stone to have (especially for the immune system boosting, since I get long crappy colds in the winter). But then I got to thinking: who decided this stone had these properties, and how did they discover them?
And, how about each of you: Did you discover your stone's various properties through books and other people's words, or did you somehow discover them yourself? How do you tell if the properties attributed to it are correct? Can you feel the differences between the energies of each stone clearly enough to identify it's properties?
I've never been one to accept one person's theory without a little personal experience with it, and unfortunately I cannot feel differences in energies clearly enough to specifically define them. I just know that that stone feels good to me, witch may have to be enough.
Anyway, thoughts?

I just wrote about this somewhere and now I can't find the thread :(
Anyway... here's a brief outline of what my thoughts are on this. I use the human language for comparisons. If you think of the German language that everyone speaks you have one level of awareness. If you go one step farther you have several different dialects within the language which are used in different parts of the country. You may well have certain expressions within a community and lastly you may have terms of endearment which only your close familiy members or loved ones know and fully understand.
This same breakdown can be applied to the mineral world. What you read in most books is the base language of the mineral and if you know nothing else it may help you in understanding the basic energies that this species of mineral contains. But there are more levels to understanding minerals just as there are more levels to the German language. Other levels of understanding may include from what location the specimen came from, does it have unique shape(s), colour, is it a subspieces of a larger group like smokey quartz is to quartz, is it a crystaline structure or a massive structure, does it have any unique characteristics.... you get the idea.
In the end what you read in books is the most basic of information. Minerals, like every object within the universe, hold energies. The more you work with them the closer the bond becomes and the closer the bond becomes the more secrets are revieled to you. Every once-in-a-while a stone will come your way which will open right up to you, more often than not over time but once in a while it's like getting hit with a brick, and these more often than not will become your power stone(s). Sometimes they stay with you throughout your life and other times others take thier place. At times you may even have more than one. At what level you work with your stones is totally dependant on the level of communication you have with it. This is why I say over and over no matter how much you think you know about a stone always be open to more. They are afterall individuals and as such have individual traits along with species traits just like everything else on this Earth.
Hope this helps.

basically Wolfsong hit it here. Also it takes a long time to research a specific stone personally. also through expermentation and meditations.

That's a great way to explain how energies work in stones! It sounds like you're one of those people who can really feel specific kinds of energies clearly, and that's awesome.
So, it sounds like you get the broad generalized properties from books, and then when your relationship grows with the stone you can start to feel more and more of the nuances of that stone. And I'm assuming that you can decide what sort of activities the stone would be good for because you can feel these energies.
So, that at least answers some of my questions. It just sounds kind of funny to say that people with special abilities to feel energy have deduced which mystical properties to attribute to stones.
Do you think everyone can develop this energy sensitivity so that they don't need to rely on other's people's findings?

to answer your question.
i talk to stones, and stones talk to me.
stones also have talked to many people before. some have chosen to share their wisdom.
some of this wisdom is now in books, some other s in other epoples minds.
sometimes people share their experiences. thus the experiences knowledge base grows.
i donmt take whqat i read 1:1 but double check (czech?) it. but if an experience does not work exactly the same with me, i dont put it down as fake. instead i will tell people who might ask me.... "the stone works great for this and that to me, and for some people it works even in this way"

Do you think everyone can develop this energy sensitivity so that they don't need to rely on other's people's findings?
its like saying: everyone can become a virtuose in playing of the piano .
i would say, that anyone, who has some qualities for this, can become good or very good. but to become a master in any field, you need to have a certain quality extra on you.
everyone could more or less learn to communicate with stones, like everyone is more or less musicalic. yet there is an ammount of people who just dont have these abilities, and who, despite dedication and practice will ever be able 5really feeling these energes, just as there are some peoples who will flow easily, naturally.
as for the latter part of the question. there is nothing wrong in relying to other peoples experiences in general, unless each of us wanted to invent and reinvent the wheel, you know.

I agree with what Czech said here. We all learn at different levels with some being better at it than others just like everything else in life. I personally have never met anyone who was genuinely interested in working with stones who could not, in time, pick up at least some sensations from the stones but there are definately people who are more natural at it.
One of the things I tell all people I meet who are interested in working with minerals is never give up. If you are finding it hard to experience these energies don't give up. Sometimes the right stone just hasn't come your way yet. The same goes for people who feel they know most of what there is to know about a type of mineral. They must remain open because no matter what you "think" you know it isn't "all" there is to know and never will be.

Thanks for all your advice guys. I appreciate you taking the time to tell me your experiences.
I've been asking a lot of questions like this lately because I've been studying long enough to know what the typical answers for most questions are, but am questioning where those answers came from. I'm lucky enough to be able to feel energy clearly, and I also hesitate to take anyone's word for something if I can't find it out for myself. I hope that the more I work, the more I'll see and feel, and I'll stop needing to scrutinize everything and just be able to intuitively feel what's right and wrong.
Again, thanks for all the advice.
