I read through the string on Witch names and have a few questions...
Are there any 'rules' when choosing a name? I read how someone who used 'Lady' got a lot of hype from it.
A name I fell in love with is Megami, which means 'Goddess' in Japanese.
I wanted to encorporate it, but is it wrong to do so? Are there other names that shouldn't be used?
thanks!

If it feels right, then use it. It's your name............I checked some threads and unless you follow a path that has a strict method of naming... you choose your name and it is yours.

...before your name. Sometimes, it can appear to others like you are ahead of yourself somewhat, and my belief is that if you don't want the hassle, leave the 'Lady's to Covn High Priestesses! Also, it's too formal for me, and I'm an informal kinda gal!
If you really have strong feelings for the name Megami, I think you should incorporate it in your magical name. Go for it!

A lot of people feel the same way about using the name of a God/dess as they do about using Lady or Lord - it seems a little pretentious. Most people like to choose a name that reminds them of something magical that they like, or make it correspond numerologically with theirs. Sometimes you'll hear a word in your dreams that you choose as your name, or you hear it at your initiation, or it comes to you in meditation, etc.

ooh, I love the name "Megami" :) it's great, very beautiful. Also, a similar name "Megumi" means "blessing" hehe just thought I'd add that.
Go with whatever feels right. And since it's in Japanese. . . and you WANT to use "lady" but you do'nt want it to sound like you're being snobby. . .use "hime." It's also Japanese, and it can mean "princess" or "lady of noble birth" aka close to "Lady" as it's often used. Just see my screen name! Pumas are special, but I wanted to add something as well, because I"m a lady. so. . . "Puma Hime" you could probably say "Megami Hime" which would be "lady goddess" or "princess goddess" or "goddess princess' or "goddess lady" ^_^;; hehe it'd get the idea across!

Ok, so I just had to share that my name has been confirmed. I still have a bit of meditation to do on it, but I asked the goddess to show me signs, and I have had 2 now today! I'm not sure if it's going to be my whole name yet, but I just had to share with you all!
