View Full Version : My introduction
Melysande

Hi, everyone! **smiles**
This is an absolutely gorgeous site. And very well organized. I feel very at-home here.
A little about me: I'm going to be 25 this year. I'm a production copyeditor or a manufacturing research firm (boring, boring, boring), and I studied Wicca for just over four years before I noticed that I was being called on to take a slightly different path. So, now I'm studying up on all the ancient Eygptian stuff I can find. I'm not Kemetic though. I still prefer the structure that Wicca has provided for me (even if I'm not Wiccan, anymore).
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here.
B*B,
Mel

Pull up a chair, grab some lemonade (or Mead - you're of age!!!) and relax for a while. The locals are friendly, though not above some heated debate... we do like our chats!
Enjoy yourself!

Thank you! Lemonade sounds wonderful. And so do the chocolate chip cookies from your Garfield quote. (Can't go wrong with quoting Garfield.)
**sighs happily** So much to read. Bliss!
I've already told a couple of my friends about this place. Phoenix Blue (who somehow managed to register shortly before I did), and his wife-to-be (my heart sister), who for some reason can't log onto this site from her work address today. Not sure what name she's going to go by.

Welcome, Melysande. I love your sig-line! We're glad to have you aboard. Hope ya get real comfy here. Psssstt..the natives get rowdy sometimes...if they start to get excited...reach for the family sized can of spam. That'll usually frighten them into submission!;)

March 4th, 2002, 01:57 PM
Hi, Flar. Is that like the F'lar of Dragonriders of Pern fame? (Haven't looked over your profile, so I'm guessing.)
I'll totally forgive you for trying to trick me into paying you money if you'll buy me some cyber sushi and a glass of saké for lunch. Sound good? ;)

...you never know what is going to happen next!! And thank you for introducing some sophistication to the MW food menu!! Now, if we could only work out how to get these damn chopsticks to work....
Melysande
March 4th, 2002, 02:04 PM
Hi to everyone who just responded while I was responding. Yes indeed, sushi is worth trying. It's definitely an acquired taste, though. (Never had saké though, even though I just "ordered" it.)
I think I'm going to like it here. I was a regular at Beliefnet for about a year. Things have gotten extremely ugly there, though, so I'm glad this place is here. I'm hoping to make it my new home-away from home. Rowdiness is fun and fine, and I'm sure I'll end up being in the thick of things in next to no time. :D
**grins and takes a bow** The Rice Crispies line was the only cute short tag I could think of at the time.

Thank you, Cari! :) I've been having so much fun around here this afternoon that I haven't gotten much work done. Wish I'd found this place about six months ago.

Howdy, howdy, howdy. . . **smiles and hugs Melysande before grabbing some lemonade**
I have a quick question. . . where can I read up on doing all this stuff with the boingy-faces and what-not? I'm going to start with the FAQ, but in the meantime. . . **smiles** I'm used to a slightly more archaic message system, so this will be a bit of a learning curve for me.

*soft smile* So do I have to start my own thread or can I just hijack yours, Mel?
*waves* Greetings everyone...I'm Wanderer (or Honor if you prefer)....finally able to log on after Phoenix worked some computer geek magick. *winks*
If you don't mind, I'm just going to make myself comfortable in the corner here and rest a while.
Oh, yes....I almost forgot. I, like Mel started off as a Wiccan, but the past year have been called to study more about Hinduism and my matron goddess Kali-Ma. I'm an almost 26 year old writer who plays an administrative assistant in the real world. I'm owned by three cats who've determined their only function in life is to eat me out of house and home.
I incessantly quote movie lines, and have been told that I often sound like an old wise woman in the woods. *laughs*

March 4th, 2002, 08:29 PM
Yes, THE Flar of Pern. (I love those books, although I wasnt
happy with what she did to Golanth in the last one.):(
Sushi is my favorite food, I eat it whenever I am in Tulsa. It is
kinda high priced(especially the way I scarf it down!) but well
worht it.
Saki? Well, when ordering saki, dont order the cheap stuff! Its
kinda rough. The more expensive it seems is smoother without
the harsh aftertaste. Its kinda like...sweet sorta vodka?

Marmite..as I understad it is like Vegi-mite....but it looks like crude oil....and tastes harrible...or great...depending on who you ask
Melysande
March 5th, 2002, 10:22 AM
**wrinkles nose** Ew. I think I'll put that one in the same category as crude oil: "Non-edible."

 Beats the alternative, though. . .
Is that the sabbattical you've talked about earlier? :) I only wish I could leave this country for a few years--somehow, I don't think Uncle Sam would appreciate my doing so, though.

 Hi to everyone! (especially to I don't already know)
Old Witch, I LOVE your signature. "Be different-- Cast a square!" That is too cool. :D
Topazz, I sent you a PM before I'd even gotten to this thread. So I guessed who you were all on my own. Can I get a prize, too? :p

Hey Mel! Good to see you here.
Earthcup- you are right, I hope they can handle such a huge tsunami of us. It is more of a merge than indiviual registration.
PB - I am so excited about the smileys and ease of adding pics, files, etc too.
Hon, um..Wanderer... Hey! I hope everything is going great!

Wild horses or a really cute guy would be the only two things that would drive me away from this place. (Or a threat of unemployment if I don't start doing some actual work this week.)
Nice to meet you, btw. :)

Yay! I won! But then again you're the only person from Kansas I know.... excepting Dorothy of course!
There does seem to have been a mass migration of sorts. Even I am shocked to realize just what a big part Wanderer, PB and Mely played in the B-Net community, everything seems rather slow and a little dull with them gone...... glad I followed the fun over here! Or at least I hitched a ride on the funny farm wagon, all my friends jumped off a cliff..... my mother was right!

Ok, have to relearn html, I guess.
And I meant "greater han 4."
All hail the Great Typo Goddess!
She's everywhere.
Earthcup
March 6th, 2002, 03:01 PM
Yup that's nice!:D
Typo has followed us too! Does that mean:2G: Goddess is on our side?:rotfl:
Or maybe she led us to greener pastures with a handy edit/delete feature?
Melysande
March 6th, 2002, 03:04 PM
Aye, the Typo-Blaster feature here is a good way to banish the Cuuuuuuuuuuuute One forever. :D

March 6th, 2002, 09:10 PM
Ok, have to relearn html, I guess.
No, HTML doesn't work here. They have something called vB code that is similar, but simpler.
To use your old HTML codes, change the <> symbols to square brackets.
And to post a link, just type the address.
Good to see all the old familiar faces! :sunny:
Melysande
March 6th, 2002, 09:17 PM
Doesn't vB stand for "visual BASIC"?
flar7
March 6th, 2002, 11:39 PM
and they arent typos, they are "screw-up fairy" visits!
Topazz
March 6th, 2002, 11:51 PM
Thanks, Katherine.
[i]Lets see if this flies.[/]
And flar, dearling, I think the screw-up fairy is the typo goddess in drag. (~_^)

March 6th, 2002, 11:52 PM
do you have your vb code turned on in your profile?
Topazz
March 6th, 2002, 11:54 PM
Yep, it sure is ON.
Wow, the submit and preview buttons are backwards from what I'm used to. Have to watch that.......
I think I see what I did wrong.

March 7th, 2002, 08:48 AM
Yup, that's the one.
I've been invited to stay at a commune whilst attending medschool and writing my next book. I'm looking at the out-of-country campus of an american university, real frontier medicine, nothing cushy.
Who knows, next one here in Afghanistan could be me....
with medcin sans frontier, of course.

Dead thread revival!!!!!!
Oh my goodness! Lookie, lookie, lookie! I didn't even remember making an introduction thread for myself. It was sooooooooo long ago! I can barely remember the time when PB was asking how to make the boingies! **Laughs**
So much has changed.... And not just my name, either.
Wow. Okay. Now I'll stop gushing about my old thread and let it rest in peace again.
