I have a Motion Sensor Floodlight and it no longer works. I have replaced the light and it still doesn't come on when someone walks by it. I dont know how its powered in order to fix it. Are they battery operated. I am not even sure what kind of battery it might have, It's awfully high up. * shudders * I hate heights.

It depends on what kind it is - some are battery-operated, but I would guess that most are hard-wired. Have you checked your circuit-breaker box? A circuit breaker might have blown.

The little sensor thingie might have gotten knocked out of place so it's not "looking" in the right direction... that happened with one of ours. It was on a pole, but the sensor got knocked so it was looking upwards, and we wouldn't set it off, but birds would. :nyah:

Could be it needs resetting. With mine, to reset them, you have to flip the on/off switch to the off position for 3 minutes, then turn it back on. Then, they work. Kinda like a rebooting of their system.

The ballast (the thing that gets the gasses going) might need replacing.

Our house came with a motion-sensor light in the back yard. 'Great,' we thought. Until the first windstorm...EVERY leaf that wiggled set the damn thing off. Had to shut the blinds just to sleep. When it went kaput we never replaced the bulb.

You can adjust the sensitivity on them, as well as the height. We have ours set to super sensitive by the garage, and medium-ly sensitive by the garden, because the plants blowing in the breeze used to set it off... They can take some fiddling with to get just right.
