View Full Version : Who wants to be a chart reader?
KEishin
October 10th, 2006, 02:27 PM
I'm about to have the admins reorganize this forum a wee bit and one thing I'll be implementing is a reader-to-reader subforum like the Tarot folks have. I'd like to be able to list the user names and skills of each reader so everyone can get an idea of their particular strengths.
As such, please review the following potential reader list I've drafted:
Keishin - natal, transits, synastry, horary
RedRose -
Business Voodoo - evolutionary astrologer (natal, transit, event, relational charts)
Fluffmeister - astrology columnist on Mystic Wicks Magazine; natal, transits and anything medieval
Shatril - natal astrology
Krowe - natal astrology
Kadynas (?) -
Valkie (?) - CoT teacher,
Anyone else want to be added? We could really use your help!
C'mon - this is the *perfect* opportunity for all you budding astrologers. The best way to learn how to read well is to practice, often, on a lot of different charts. Don't worry about being perfect - nobody's going to criticize you or your interpretation (against forum rules) and if you make a mistake . . so what? I've made plenty here, but that's how people learn! I'm really hoping some of our shyer posters would like to step up to the plate and help us out.
Please respond within this thread.
Thanks in advance!

hmmmmmmmmmmm....
yes, i think that would be a good idea ... i know i often lose track of and forget requests for readings that come from the PMs (so, if you've ever asked me for a reading via PM and i didn't get back to you ... i'm sorry, and no you don't bug me if you need to remind me!), and i like tarot's format for readings, and i think it would encourage all types of astrologers to offer up their gifts as well.
i don't know how to describe what kind of astrological readings i do though ... i guess i would use the word 'evolutionary' if the whole 'evolutionary astrology' thing didn't have such a can of worms and dogma attached to it now ... heck, when i heard there was such a thing as evo-astro, i was like yea!!! then i found out that in order to be "a real" evo-astroer, one had to belief in these "facts" ... oh, la, la. so, perhaps like reclaiming my other definitions such as "christian" and "republican" from those who have commandered it to their own ends, i will use the whole "evolutionary astrology" label as that is the one that describes the type of readings i do.

Labels really are such a pain the behind, no? Yet we label because it makes things easier to understand. I tell people I'm a vegetarian and they immediately jump to the conclusion that I'm a militantly-liberal, PETA supporting, anti-fur clothing, bleeding-heart humanist who wants to save the baby whales. :laughs hysterically:
Would you like to write a brief description of evolutionary astrology for a future post to explain to those of us scratching our heads? I've got a post (somewhere) where I talk about different types of astrology, but I would love to expand it with your particular style. I only know a smidge about it myself.

Great idea!
I haven't been doing much reading here recently because I've been inundated with work, but I'd like to be on the list as I will contribute again soon!

Yup, I'm veggie too so everyone assumes that I'm a militantly-liberal, PETA supporting, anti-fur clothing, bleeding-heart humanist who wants to save the baby whales.
It's nonsense, of course. I'm actually a militantly-liberal, PETA supporting, anti-fur clothing, bleeding-heart fluffy new-ager who wants to save the baby whales.

business voodoo ... evolutionary astrologer ... for those who understand the matrix movies, i can try to help you understand your process of 'waking up' or understand why the world you live in is asleep and what you can do to help ... natal, transits, events, and relational charts.
what do you think ... does that make sense or is it too 'obtuse' (my favorite word of my husband to describe what i write most of the time!) ...???

Y'know if it were anything else instead of meat people wouldn't blink an eye. If I said, for instance, that I don't eat broccoli, I doubt the following conversation would ensure . . . (which did happen - I've substituted food to show the absurdity):
"You don't like broccoli? . . . Why? (dramatic pause) Do you have something against broccoli? It's really a very nice vegetable. You know that broccoli is raised very humanely, right? Do you protest to save the other baby vegetables too? Do you have a "personal problem" with broccoli? Is it okay if I eat broccoli? Will you get upset if I enjoy it?"
No. I don't eat meat because it makes me sick. Nor do I care one whit about saving any baby animals. If they're dumb enough to get caught they deserve to be eaten. Or as one of my friends says - "I only eat meat from animals that smoke and do drugs. I figure I'm doing Nature a favor, because then the dumb ones don't get to breed."

When he gets too much on your nerves tell him to osculate your posterior. That'll give you some peace while he goes and looks it up. :hahugh:
I like your description. I understand what you're getting at - it seems clear enough. It's less about figuring what is going on to *you* alone, and more about how you fit into the bigger pattern and what you can do to help others. Did I get it?

I wish I had the confidence for this, but it would take me days to do just one, and I know that wouldn't be any good. I hope to learn a lot from the readings that others allow you to post.

i agree with keishin -- i think you have some really great insights that people would be honored and very blessed to receive.
as for confidence and being 'ready' ... i would suggest to build your confidence that you not try to read the entire chart (ok, so keishin and red rose can be a little show-offy in that department ... as i am so jealous of their abilities in that regard!).
just start by writing by what you see first. little by little the story the chart has to tell through you in particular will pop right out ... sometimes it is a short as a poem, sometimes its an essay or short story ... rarely for me does a novel come out, and even then it comes out chapter by chapter with long term clients. personally, i start by digging into the similarities (or dissiliarities) i see between my chart and other's, or i use my 'tool de jour' (the thing i'm learning most about astrology at the moment) to help me guide the way.
besides ... this is a free forum, if someone needs more clarity or information you don't feel comfortable giving, tell them. i often cry for "help!" or send a reference to another reader (or website) on lots of areas of reading a chart -- and sometimes its not an area, but a particular chart in particular will not connect with me.

Absolutely. Even if you don't want to do an entire interpretation, Shatril, just an observation on one part of the chart can often illuminate areas that other astrologers here hadn't covered, or hadn't noticed. Teamwork can bring great results - that's why it's so good giving readings on a forum, because we can all share. So don't put your talents down, and don't be shy :)

You's guy's are so sweet! Ok, I will try this, because I do have the basics of chart interpretation. I prefer doing Natal for now. As I gain more knowledge and experience, then maybe others.
Thanks for the encouraging words.

Wow, that is sort of how I work. I think I'm always learning, but when I see what you others do, I get a little intimidated. But frankly, I haven't really done much of this stuff, except for people that I know and I think it is time to spread out and try what I know now. With a view to continuing to expand my knowledge. This will encourage me to do that. Thanks again to you all for the wonderful encouragement. :hugz:

I've become a lot stronger on the natal front with my practice here lately. I would be willing to give it a shot. I am pretty strong at natal from what I've been told.
I dabble with synastry, transits, and horary but I'm not very strong at them. Just budding actually. Too many angles and equations sometimes. Gets a bit overwhelming.
But if people are patient I can usually do a pretty detailed and nice chart/reading for them in about 3 days. I know that seems awhile, but I like to be thorough and make sure that I'm not missing anything or taking something out of context or exxagerating anything I see.
Peace!

Shatril & Krowe -
Whoo hoo!
Thank you for stepping up to the plate. While we're a bit slow in charts at the moment, when it (inevitably) speeds up again, your help will be very welcome!
And don't worry about rushing to finish a chart on a schedule. The people asking for readings are getting them for free, so they probably won't mind waiting a few days. (If they want a chart right now, they can send me my usual fee, which starts at $100 p/hour. :nyah: )

I'll do some charts.
Natal, transits, returns and rectification.
Anything else will take a go at. Leave the synastry/composite well away from me. One is enough!

RedRose here!
I have been off trying to make money for several months but I popped in today for some fun and love and I LIKE THIS FORMAT! I find it hard and tiring trying to give readings, teach beginners and learn advanced astrology all at once in the same place. Now I don't have to!
"RedRose is a Neptunian astrologer" - The Fluffmeister
"Mom doesn't quite believe in astrology, but astrology sure believes in her!" - My daughter, who is a better astrologer than I.
At age 14, I learned that I am an Aquarius with a Leo Moon and what that meant. At 21 I learned I have a Taurus Rising and I didn't like that so I quit astrology. At age 29 it was pointed out to me that I had married a man whose Sun exactly conjuncted my 23* Scorpio Saturn on my Descendent and that my Saturn Return was upon me. Grand Fixity dawned on me too, and I started really studying astrology after that, but SLOWLY....
I divorced my first husband at age 35, right as Pluto was going over his Sun, my Saturn. Then at my Uranus Opposition I suddenly found that horoscopes made sense....like I could look at them and whole movies would pop into my mind without thinking or figuring. I am 52 now, Saturn is on top of my Pluto trined Pluto in the sky which is on top of my North Node/Venus/Ceres conjunct!
Not sure any of that makes me a good astrologer but I am sincere. Astrology is something I keep learning, and getting better at, and I am fascinated by destiny. I love seeing people 's problems and seeing the gifts they have to handle them - the areas they need to work harder at, or relax about, or ignore or explore. Astrology never stops amazing me.
My method (which IS pretty Neptunian, with Venus overtones) is simply to imagine that I have your chart. What would I feel/think if I had a scope like yours.
I am advanced at beginning astrology only, - just now playing with progressions and beyond. Give me another few decades and I'll be fabulous!

Hi Keishin,
Again, I like the new format with the separation of focuses! However, when I went to look at charts I noticed that "readers" are no longer posting the scopes. As you know I am getting old and calculating charts takes me time and I make mistakes so I have to go back and check, and I have a pile of charts to calculate without playing here. My favorite fun while at MW is to ADD some insights and info.
Am I missing something? The conversation texts seems separated by lots and lots of scrolling through photos and quotes. Where are the scopes?

Thanks for the time you put in. I don't know how you found the time between all you do here and running your own board.
Thank you both for your thoughtful responses.
Due to a life threatening illness I am conquering, I had to leave forawhile, and resign all of my positions here, with the exception of Forum Guide for Magic and Rituals.
It was nothing against the community here. I love you guys...:)
I just needed to take a hiatus for awhile. Plus, The Perch was getting a little crazy, as I was spending more time HERE, then there. LOL...
But within a week, I should be OK, so I'm slowly returning, and I will resume my Chart Reader position when I return.
I may even resume the Ritual Theory Class as well. SFS said she would archive it for me, when I decided to take it out, dust it off, and start over.
I also need to start a new autobiography here, so ppl know that I'm the real thing. LOL...
Gods bless to all of you.

Big Winter Solstice blessing to you. Please share here at whatever level energizes you, and feel our prayers for your happiness and healing. Shatril and I are attempting to make it easier - never burdensome - for astrologers to pop in and take a peak at scopes, discussions, and research. The more astrologers arrive, the lighter the work and more fantastically fun the play. You are wonderful and I am so glad you will be back soon. Thank you so much for all your service.

Next week, I'll be cathcin up on things, and plan to get back into action again.
I'm at another forum now, where I'm the Moderator for an entire section of the SpriitualityForum, which includes all SORTS of subforums that I'm in charge of, so as soon as I get that back under control, so I should be OK, after that.
I'll get some charts finished up there, and then hopruallyrutrn, andstatremeuming my Chart Reading Services herea as well, and I also have to Admin the Perch as well, and train the new Staff there.
So it will be a very busy week for me,but I think I can manage it. As well as be the Forum Guide here for the Magic/Rituals forum. *whew!!!*
It's alright, I'm a tough cookie I can handle of of it.

This seems to be an old rather unused thread but I figured it was as good a place as any. While I'd hardly consider myself a professional I've been doing charts for myself, my man and our friends for a little while and (as I don't work or have anything else to do) been studying astrology like a mad woman lol.
What I'd like to do now is practice as really that's the next step for me. How do I get myself added to the list of people who are willing to do interpretations? I've PMed a few ppl who've asked as there didn't seem to be any response to their posts and asked if they minded that I do one (explaining that I'm still a bit new at this). But I've been leery of replying to them in the forums as I wasn't sure that was "proper". Anyone?
