Hello all,

It's been a while since I've been here, been doing alot of research on paganism etc, mostly learning more and more, everyday about paths, etc.
I've been inspired to go back to college to complete my degree, I have been meditating on it, planning my essays, etc, just concentrating on doing my best, spiritually, physically and mentally. I plan on doing a little spell, some candle magick, calling the Goddess to assist me in getting back into school, to help me be open to new ideas and to push myself. I was planning to do the spell on the new moon, for new beginnings, would this be appropriate?
I am fully aware that my spell will not on it's own, manifest my desires, only I can do that, but I feel that it will help me connect with the Goddess and the strength I need to succeed. Am I on the right track here, I wish to pen my own chant, and am having a bit of trouble, I also plan on using a gold, blue, green and white candle. Any suggestions?

Why those colours for the candles? If they make sense to you as good corresponding colours then its fine. I'm just curious as to how you feel these are mind keys.

And the moon phase thing - if it makes sense to you use it. As you can imagine, the hedgewitch in the past couldn't wait to do the right moon phase for a spell. For example, if someone's sick at waning moon she couldn't decide hey I have to wait till the moon's full before I do anything, because by then the person could be dead). Thus as I understand you can basically tailor your moon phase correspondence to what you need - for example if new makes sense go for it, or if it were near a full moon you could say it'll help you be "abundantly wise and strong and courageous", whatever works.

Thanks for responding, the colors I chose were from a list of supposed candle meanings, the only one that naturally rang to me was the blue, I don't know why. Unfortunately, I haven't found any keys as to which color candle is traditionally applied to education manners, any idea? I always light a white candle, so that was almost rote.

Thanks,

I can suggest a couple of herbal things that might help.

Rosemary, gingko, rue, and spearmint are all good herbs for a herbal magic bag to help strengthen your memory & brain powers. You can also embroider the Mannaz rune on the bag. It's the rune that is used to help increase intelligence & mental powers.

Here's a good blend of oils for a difussor: 20 drops rosemary EO, 10 drops spearmint EO, 8 drops basil EO, and 6 drops ginger EO. You can burn this as you're studying to help sharpen your concentration.

You can use rosemary, gingko, & spearmint as a tea also. Mix together 1/2 tsp of rosemary, 2 tsp of gingko leaves, 2 tsp of spearmint. Use 1 tsp of the mixture to 1 cup of boiling water. Steep for 15 mins & strain. Add honey if you wish. If the rosemary taste is too strong, you can reduce the rosemary to 1/4 tsp.

With any of the above, you can word a spell to go with them. Asking for the properties of these herbs to be strengthen & enhanced, helping you with your concentration & studies.

 Good luck with your studies!

I would only use the candles that make sense for you.

Since yellow is associated with east and air, and new beginnings, intellect, and creativity (to me), I would use that for education etc.
