View Full Version : Attention Forum Guides!

I'm going to be compiling a list of which guides are still active, which are MIA, and which forums need a replacement guide (or guides).
If you could please contact me with what forum you're a guide of, who your co-guide is (if applicable) and their activity level (only if they're MIA, or barely around please) you'd help out a bunch.

Thanks ladies. :)
And thanks to those who have already reported.
Also, if you know of guides who are totally inactive but not your guide if you could let me know that as well.

I'm a guide in the Books section. The discussion there is pretty active so I don't need to do much to stir things up. But I'm still active!

What does a guide do?
Flaire
October 16th, 2006, 08:29 PM
From what I know, they help keep their forums active. Some of them watch what's said and report stuff that happens that's questionable. Others do fun things, like host games, etc.
Note: I didn't really help out with this program in the beginning, but I'm stepping in now and hoping to get it more organized. ;)

What does a guide do?
I was told my Mithrea that Forum Guides were for many thing:
--keeping the forum active (starting threads, quizzes, games, etc)
--answering questions
--reporting things (though everyone should report naughties)
--doing [blank] of the day/week threads (tarot card of the week, God and Goddeses of the week, etc)
Basically get people involved and have fun.
Some forums don't need a push (PP for example does just fine without help) but some others do.

Eastern Forum Paths Guide herre.... :)
I cant say i do host gams or start many conversations...I try though :). I have on many tiems noticed threads which mike be applicable to Eastern paths and in my posts encouaged the posters of such threads to visit the eastern forum paths to ask questions and read whats already been talked. We have many great members who frequent from time to time the discussions that go on in eastern paths, and we have developd quite a nice array of different threads with great information on about 5 mmain different paths (Hinduism being a big one, as well as Buddhism, Taoism, and on occasion Shinto.) As I am only one person though...would one of the mods take a glance at our little corner called Eastern Paths, and tell me how Im doing ? :)...glad to be of service *salutes the Admin :D)

 Checking in... well, I don't know if I'm considered active enough, but when I was logging in everyday, I wasn't getting much response from people; I think this whole time I've only had a person PM me by that link in my thread, telling them to PM me if they have a question. In the beginning, I sent PMs to newbs here and there, like, the ones that hadn't done an intro yet, telling them about doing an intro, and telling them to ask if they had any questions... a couple of times we seemed to get swamped with new members, and it seemed like lots of them were "one-timers" or something, and I had a hard time keeping up. Then I sort of fell out of the loop for awhile due to chaos at home and funky computer happenings... I still checked in periodically to the greeting karma thread and stuff, which I'd subsribed to... but haven't come up with anything new lately. I think I've got most of the computer stuff ironed out now, and I've started having more bits of time for online again... I would like to still do things for the Introductions forum, and come up with some more fun things, if you guys still want me
 .
I think Mithrea told me in the beginning that I would basically work alone... but then there seemed to be a few others interested in helping... I did start a "Welcome Wagon" thread, though, sort of as an official unofficial gathering of people who would like to do lots of meeting and greeting... should it be made more official?

I am the only forum guide for Political Pagan, as the other one was banned quite a long time ago. I'd like to resign my position as guide for that particular forum, though, as my interest in politics has waned. So two new guides will be needed for PP.
However, if a guide is needed for the tech forum I would like to volunteer for that.

Alright, ladies & gents.. I jumped the gun a bit yesterday and the forum was visible to everyone, not just the guides. We're working on it and hopefully we'll get it back in the next few days. I'll post again when it works properly. ;)

Well, this is certainly helpful for me too, as I'm sure poor Flaire knows! ;)
I've personally been interested in investing my time, and contributing here as one of the CoT Teachers, but not sure what exactly is in need right now. Everything seems to be basically covered!!! I've been blessed by meeting many new friends here, which email and PM me frequently, so I was given information that Forum Guides were in need, and therefore I asked Flaire about the Magic And Rituals forum, as I've been practicing ritual magick for 20+ years now. Sorry that I didn't realize it was already active. Now of course, if anyone is in need of help, a right hand, etc., just ask...;)
I also have Adept knowledge in the following areas:
Herbalism
Tarot
Divination
Mentoring (I have taugtht 2 students from scratch who both lead their own covens now ;) )Therefore, either New Pagans, Introductions, etc., I could help anyone out in, as well as the above...
Dream interpretation
The Paranormal
Counseling (Helping Hands, perhaps?)That's about all I can think of for now. These areas I consider myself most at ease at, and would be capable of handling on my own if necessary as a subsittute, or a right hand, etc. too, if necessary.
Just to let everyone reading to know, esp. the FG's and Admins, that I'm posting this for all YOUR benefit. I'm the Site Administrator of my own pagan forum, with moderators, and enough members where it's cozy and comfortable. And not so much that I'd be too busy to help out over here as well. Thank the Gods for Moderators...
So anyway, I thought I would put this up to let any of the current FG's that are active, but may be in need of some help/replacemnt/relief, etc...that I'm available for the above subjects, as well as the subjects above those!. :)
Feel free to PM/email me if you have any comments or questions.
Blessings to all,
~SilverFeather the Owl~
