Has anyone ever had a religious experience with one of the Olimpians? I havent heard too much stories about them. Please, feel free to share your stories!

The Olympian gods are very accessible, and most people have heard some of their stories. Greek myth is all over the place if you just look. I highly recommend reading at least the Odyssey before contacting a Greek god, though. In my experience, they're very willing to talk if you approach them with knowledge and respect.

The Homeric Hymns are also a great place to start learning. Hesiod's Theogeny isn't bad either if you have an attention span of more than a minute or two at a time- which I haven't :-P (Both of which I read long after becoming interested in the Greek gods.)

Though, respect is always important.

Those are also good, but the reason I mentioned the Odyssey is because in addition to information about the gods, it also neatly demonstrates the proper way to address them and the consequences of disrespect.

Try http://www.theoi.com/... it provides a very comprehensive look at the Greek Gods and Goddesses. It is a bit complex, though, if you aren't familiar with the stories.

I worshipped (and still do) some of the Greek gods. Asclepius, Athena and Hermes mostly.

I'd like to share a small experience I had with Hermes - an ex-girlfriend of mine (who is also pagan) had a big test coming and she didn't know what to do. I suggested her to try and pray to Athena and Hermes. I already had a relationship with both; I decided to pray on her behalf to. Half an hour before the test she got the answers from someone who got the same test a year ago. I'll let you guess which God answered to this particular prayer...

He has a sense of humor and I also think a big knack for practical jokes. That was my "payment" for the help she got.

I am familiar with the stories but they are nowhere near the knowledge I have of the Egytpians. I tried reading the Oddyssey when I was in about 6th grade and it was too hard, lol. Somehow I managed to read the first harry potter books though.

About those Greek myths, they were made up to understand the gods better. I know a philosopher, I can't remember his name, was trying to ban the stories because it was representing the Olympians.

I'm currently in the proccess of researching them, so far Apollo and Poseidon greatly appeal to me.

Thanks for the link, Brightshores

I would suggest grabbing Karl Kerenyi's book The Gods of the Greeks...it's very easy to find and extremely informative- often shows up on Amazon used for $5 or less. Really, anything by Kerenyi is good.

If you're interested in Apollo....you might want to try looking for Kerenyi's book, Apollo: The Wind The Spirit and the God...though, I wouldn't count on inding it except maybe for in a library..it's out of print and pretty rare (used copies are currently going for upwards of $135...insane for a 76-page softcover book. I've seen it for over $300 in one or two places.)

I'm not quite as sure about Poseidon though
