UGH! My prairie dog got out of his cage earlier, somehow...and I cannot find him ANYWHERE. I went out into the hall to get a bottle of water, without knowing he was out, so he could have gotten out then. My livingroom window was slightly open, he could have gotten out of there, I've checked everywhere I can think of IN the house, if he's here, he's burrowed somewhere, and asleep....UGH. I'm supposed to leave for an out of state trip tomorrow afternoon...my Grandfathers 85th birthday. If I don't find him..how can I leave?

UGH! Please send some energy my way..i'm going out of my mind!

Oh, I hope he comes out of hiding soon!

I'm sure you've thought of this, but what about putting his favorite treat out? Maybe that will draw him from his hiding place?

Did you try running a vaccuum? That usually gets my cats out of hiding after theysee the cat carrier (menaing trip to vet!)

I hope you find him. That is a horrible feeling.

Well..he hasn't come out of hiding yet. And the cats are not going nuts, like they usually would if they knew he was loose. So...this leads me to believe that he actually got out of the apartment, and is gone for good :( . Yesterday, John came home for lunch break, and before he left, he left the door ajar while he came into the office to grab his wallet. I think that is when the prairie dog got loose, and got out. This isn't a HUGE apartment, and while there are certainly some places the prairie dog could hide, we've really looked everywhere. Besides, he'd be getting hungry or restless by now..and we still haven't seen him :(

I would suggest leaving his food and water out, just in case he is hiding somewhere. That way, you can go away and don't have to worry about him being without. Are your cats nice to him? That could be a whole different problem, if they're not.....
I hope you find him....

Yep...Cat's are more scared of the Prarie dog, than the Prairie Dog is (or was) of them.

So..if he does come out..that won't be a problem....:(

Aaaahhhhh! OMG! I used to have praire dogs! I love them so much. The cuddle, snuggle, and are lovey animals!

If you have carpet in your house- beware and go check for damage. Look in anything that is small, dark, and diggable.

Try any open laundry basket... I am trying to remember where else I found mine when they would escape:2G: They are weird and sneaky. I finally found mine one day after I looked for hours in the house. So I sat down in front of the TV- Animal planet -of course what was on- documentary for praire dogs...hmmmmm! I turned up the TV and within a few moments of wild dog screams- out comes my babies!

Also, they used to greet me anytime I would enter the apartment (before I bought the house)- it eee!eeee! they would stand straight on their hind legs and keep yelling -until I yelled "hi" back.

I know I probably didn't help much- but I hope you find them!

If he got out- he won't go far- look for the burrows around the apartments. Any vegitated area- like most animals- they will stay around the food!
