I have been informed that the Pagan Pride Day has been announced here in the past without a lot of interest.
This is a very important issue at hand.
We can sit here on line all day long and profess our undying love of the Mother, the Goddess, the Elders and the Great Ones. Sure it is easy to do on line but, we NEED to get out there. We need to speak in numbers. There is no denying this.
We have to tell others about us so they might understand and through this, we can all live happier together. It matter not - Pagan, Christian, Buddhist, Muslim. Until we speak out, we will remain in the Shadows.
Join us and be proud of who and what you are. Come out of the broom closet for just that one day.
Epelo (And I speak this).
This Community has come together in the past. Let it come together NOW. Again

Grettings,
I don't know if there is one in Sweden just yet. However, if you go to http://www.paganpride.org, perhaps you could help start one. That would be great.
Keep me posted.

hmm.....well...we see what i will do......i will spread the
word about this though....iv'e been trying to make
people to look at Wicca and Paganism with a more open
heart and i have sucseded to turn some people...i did
found out that manny people thought Wicca and Paganism as evil.....so i explained to them that it wasent so....and that it mostly are about the Nature from both our insides and outside....but awcourse there
are always someone that takes it to a dark place and use it in a unwise way....but i explained that theres always been bad elements and good ones and the best
way is a balance of it all......to never just chose just one
direction but to be at peace with them all.......
hmm....so was this a good advise to give them??..they
thought it was...so i'll gues it most have been....
Thanks again my friend

There is balance in everything. All that we say and do. Some feel Wicca and Paganism to be evil, yes. And there are some that use it to means other then good.
I have read many stories that state Wicca/Paganism is linked to serial murders. What they miss is the fact that there are just as many other religions that can be linked as well.
You have done well by telling those in your community the truth. SEE, you are a leader.

Yes i agree that they always seams to forget that theres
just the exact same amont good and bad in other religions and even if theres no religion there still are both good and bad....
hmm.. i dont know if i ever have liked the word leader..
it sounds so military somehow...don't you think?...but thank you for thinking this way about me.....but i'm only
a part of nature and i'll do what i feel i must do....
All balance and strenght to you my friend and may your
way always lead you to good ways....

Sorry Witchborne if RnR jumped on you like that. Its just this community doesn't seem too interested in Pagan Pride. Out of almost 500 members only less than 50 have viewed this and only you and Blue responded. I posted something similar earlier and less than 20 viewed it. This is sad. :(
Do what you can and pass it on.

I apologize if it appeared that I had jumped on anyone. That surely was not the intent. However, if I have caused harm, please accept this apology.

Consider carefully that word, 'Pride' and where it can lead ;)
While it is good to be proud of ones profession... it can lead to false pride, and the last thing paganism needs is another 'new age phenomena' :D
I for one have strong views, and feel that my craft should be kept for the most part, private. After all it is my personal connection with deity that makes me what I am. I think that a 'pride day' puts us in the realm of other extremist groups, and can be something that will tend to cause more harm than good.
IMHO, Hee,hee :D

Your writing is fine and very good. We give you lots of practice in your english, I'm sure. If RnR came on me like that I would think he was being a bit pushy so I guess I just jumped in there instead of letting it be. I'm sorry. OK that's enough apologies so lets get on with the topic at hand.

I think most pagans won't let it lead to false pride within themselves. Some already advertise it like another 'new age phenomena' so this can't start that. Those are also the same people you have to be wary of and that seekers need to know about. That is one of the things this might acomplish including becoming a unified community.

You can keep your craft private. I'm sure we all agree on that. There are just some things you can't or won't share. No one is asking you to yell it from the rooftops. If you're afraid of persecution, that's fine too, you don't have to attend but consider passing it along to other pagans at least.
I believe this event is primarily to show the general population, seekers, solitaries, that we exist everywhere, we are normal people and, for those who find it hard to meet others, you are not alone.
I'm sure in some places the media might skew it but that is a chance worth taking IMHO. If a true seeker sees it on the news and finds help, that is one less person that is floundering out there. Look at what Gay Pride did. I must admit I'm not but they are not an extremist group. They have brought people of a like mind together.
Yes it might bring about harm because we are out in the open in a group. The people who have a problem with or can't stand change are going to come out of the woodwork scared as rabbits. And we will be here as a group to say you can't change our hearts and you will have to live with us just like homosexuals. There is not going to be a change against peoples views on paganism until they realize we're everywhere. With the current administration not wanting to recognize our religion it is even more important. Whether you are part of the solution or not is your business but there will be Pagans everywhere fighting for our rights and public acceptance.
This is not be the only solution. There is the postcard campaign for the week of the solstice and the quilt project. Pick one of these more annonymis ones if you will but I doubt any one of these on their own would make a big difference.
I am Pagan Proud and I will be there and hopefully help in Dallas, TX.

I want to do something around here, but I think that it would be really hard. The pagan community around here is fragmented to say the least. There were some groups that were just for New Jersey pagans, but they have shut down due to lack of involvement of members. Any ideas?
The other problem is that I am young, and get automatically dismissed by some older pagans around here. So, if there is anyone else from NJ who would like to go into this with me, please let me know! And if you have any advice, please tell me.

Kaylara, I would at least tell it to all the NJ Pagans you know and tell them to tell others. Is there maybe a college campus group or pagan store who is willing? I can understand this doesn't look like a project for just one individual unless they have alot of time on their hands.

The one metaphysical show near me just closed. I know of a bunch of coffee shops etc, and some other pagans in the area, but I need something to advertise first. I know that I am not going to be able to do this by myself, I don't have that much time on my hands. The other problem is that lots of people pledge their help, but (and this has happened to me many times before) when it comes to actually doing it, not one of them shows up. (Kinda disheartening) Thanks for the imput though, and I will try looking around for others who would like to do this.
