Hiya,

I do hope I havn't ruined my chances for a reading by not understanding why I had to place it in the thread previously.

Date of Birth: 16th April 1986

Time of Birth: 19:05

Place of Birth: Louise Margaret Military Hospital, Aldershot, Hampshire, England

Can we discuss the why's and wherefore's of the things in the reading though? I might ask a lot of questions, it's not me trying to pick things apart, just me trying to gain a deeper understanding of what everyones saying.

I am sorry if I've caused any offense, irritation, frustration or anything like that. :)

Have a good one.

Thanks, Kailen - I haven't done a reading on MW for a while as I've been so busy, but I couldn't resist doing one for someone in Bracknell (I spent the first 18 years of my life there before I escaped) so you've got me back into it!

OK, well I usually start by looking at the "Big Three" - Sun, Moon and Ascendant. Everyone knows what their Sun sign is - that's the one you look up in the newspaper when you check out your "horoscope" - so you know you're an Aries. You probably already know some of the keywords for Aries (even people who don't know anything about astrology usually know this) - bold, daring, outgoing, taking on the world without a second thought - a warrior in every sense of the word (and no, it doesn't have to mean getting involved in fights). The reason everyone knows their Sun sign is it goes purely by birthday - anyone born on 16 April is an Aries, regardless of whether they were born in 1986 or 1926, which is why you can just look it up in a horoscope column in a newspaper.

The reason most people don't know their Moon sign or rising sign is that there's no easy formula - the Moon was in Cancer on 16 April 1986, but isn't in Cancer on 16 April every year. Anyhow, the Moon is about how you *feel* about stuff, how you react when people hurt you, your emotions, their ups and downs. Your Moon is in Cancer, which is pretty good because the Moon "rules" Cancer. Cancer is about the home, family, protection, the need to nurture and be nurtured, maintaining those family links or building a strong family and home.

The rising sign, or Ascendant, is the bit of sky that was rising over the horizon when you were born. Because the Earth rotates, this changes every couple of hours - that's why we need to know your birth time (and place). Your Ascendant is Libra, the very opposite of independent devil-may-care Aries. Libra is charming, sociable, diplomatic, and needs other people - either in a relationship sense, or just as friends.

So your Big Three are Sun in Aries, Moon in Cancer, Libra rising. These three signs are all big important signs - "cardinal" signs, we call them, as they mark the beginning of seasons (when the Sun moves into Aries, it's the start of spring; Cancer is the start of summer, and Libra the start of autumn). They may be big and important, but they also clash because they're all so different from each other. Aries is independent and doesn't need anyone else to carry out his bold ideas; Libra can't work alone; and whereas Aries doesn't give a damn about the consequences, Cancer needs security. So there's a conflict between the "real you" (Sun in Aries) that wants to take on the world and do your own thing; the fear that might come from doing this because it threatens your security (Moon in Cancer); and that charming sociable exterior (Libra rising) that needs other people, and other people's approval.

Having said that, you do have an incredibly strong chart. The "planets" (in astrology, that includes the Sun and Moon which aren't really planets) are happier in some signs than others. Let's have a look at yours: the Sun loves being in Aries, he's said to be "exalted" there. The Moon loves being in Cancer, because she "rules" Cancer.

Mercury; this is the planet that says how you communicate. He's in Pisces; he'd far rather be in the sign opposite to Pisces (Virgo), so he's said to be "in detriment" in Pisces. However, this doesn't necessarily mean you can't communicate; it just means that you communicate in ways that are rather unconventional. Sometimes this *does* mean that you have difficulty in getting your message across to people, or you're misunderstood - or it could mean that you're communicating in an off-beat way or on subject that are a bit obscure. Your Mercury is square to Uranus - this can be a case of your mind working so quickly you just can't express those rapid-fire thoughts in time, so your speech, writing or other forms of communication can be stilted, or confused, or you lose people who just can't keep up.

Venus; "men are from Mars, women are from Venus". Not really that simple, but Venus is about where we like to be pampered; the fine things in life, good food, fine wines, great sex, joyful passion. She's about relationships, something that Libra rising likes, but your Aries Sun may be a bit more cavalier about. She's in Taurus, the sign that she rules, so she's pretty happy there. Your Venus is very strong, in fact, making only nice "aspects" to other planets (an aspect is the angle that two planets make to each other; oppositions and squares - 180 and 90 degrees apart - are considered difficult, sextiles and trines - 60 and 120 degrees - are considered easy). That Venus makes a nice sextile to your Moon and a sextile to your Jupiter. That's three planets, all in rulership, in a nice cosy relationship with each other. Venus likes the fine things in life, and knows how to get them - and she's in the 8th house of other people's money, inheritances, grants and transformation. Some astrologers also place sex in the 8th house. Sounds like you'll do OK for yourself and be pretty confident about going out and getting what you want, both financially and in relationships.

Mars; this is about your basic needs and desires. He's in Capricorn, where he's "exalted", not to mention making good angles to Jupiter, Venus and Pluto. That opposition to the Moon can mean conflict, especially with parents, and it's more likely to leave the other person feeling angry rather than you - you know how to get your own way, after all! The only problem with this Mars is that he's conjunct (sitting next to) Neptune, the planet that dissolves things. Mars in Capricorn is normally a great planner, but Neptune often ensures that your best laid plans can go awry. You need to learn to communicate more effectively, perhaps, as your quick mind means *you* know what you want (and how to get it), but plans can break down because you haven't really let others know what you need to get something working. If you find yourself saying to people "well, that should have been obvious..." just remember that what's clear to you isn't necessarily clear to others.

Jupiter and Saturn; Jupiter isn't a "personal" planet - the fact that you have Jupiter in Pisces is good (Jupiter rules Pisces), but this is something you share with most people who were in your class at school - Jupiter spent most of 1986 in Pisces. Jupiter is about where we like to expand, go over the top a bit, travel, get educated and generally have a good time. Saturn is about restriction, structure, boundaries, and that voice in your head that says "no", or "you're not good enough".

Jupiter is a mixed blessing in your chart. He trines Pluto and your Moon, and he's in rulership. You're likely to pretty good at making money, and probably quite a lot of it. However, he squares your Saturn and your Chiron, so although you have talents, you may not recognise them. There's a voice in your head telling you that you aren't good enough all the time. You can be your own worst enemy. That voice may be an echo of authority figures - a parent or teacher - giving you negative feedback when you were younger; whatever, it injects an element of fear and doubt that you'll need to crack to be able to fulfill your chart and succeed - and since this is such a strong chart full of promises that you *can* succeed, it's vitally important that you do recognise your own talents and strengths, and tell that Saturn where he can shove it!

Thank you!!

I'm going to have to go and think on that for a while.

But be warned!! I may have questions later...

Hi, Shatril - we've never stopped anyone from posting chart requests, and we certainly weren't "having a go" at Kailen at all - and Kailen certainly hadn't "ruined his chances" as his was a perfectly reasonable and understandable request :)

We were just pointing out that in general, most of the astrologers here prefer to do readings in the forum, which is what we've done. Some people don't want that, and that's fine - there may be some astrologers here who are happy to do readings via PM for free, but a lot of us won't do this via PM; that's all I was trying to say. Perhaps my Mercury in Pisces made it come over badly!

I see Keishin's set up a subforum for chart readings, which makes things a bit easier to navigate - that way, all requests for readings (and responses) are in the same sub-forum, one thread per person (so other astrologers who can comment on Kailen's chart can do it in this thread so all the responses are together).

Also, something else worth pointing out - just the nearest town will do when you give your birth data (we don't need home addresses or anything!)

Damn. And here I was going to go hunt people down in person and ask for money.

I think what caught my eye first was the number of planets either in dignity or exaltation. I was like "damn . . . "

For those who aren't following - planets in dignity mean they are in the sign that they rule. So Pluto in Scorpio and Venus in Taurus are in dignity. Exaltation is similar to dignity, except that while the sign of exaltation is very favorable for a particular planet, it's not so much as the sign of dignity would be.

Absolutely! Kailen's chart has the following:

Sun - exalted in Aries (and also a "triplicity" ruler of fire - though that's a mediaeval thing)

Moon - in rulership in Cancer (and also a trip ruler of water)

Venus - in rulership in Taurus (and a trip ruler of earth)

Mars - exalted in Capricorn (and a trip ruler of earth)

Jupiter - in rulership in Pisces (and also has dignity by "term" and "face", mediaeval again)

Saturn - some dignity, as it's a trip ruler of fire

Mercury is the only planet that isn't in good condition (in detriment in Pisces), but makes only good angles (sextiles and trines) to the traditional planets.

hi kailen ...

perhaps the thing that struck me was that you have pluto, saturn, uranus and neptune, all the outer planets in retrograde natally, and they will not progress direct for many, many years ... in 2012, pluto retrogrades back over your ascendent and you will be working with a mystical rectangle energy at that time ... pluto/mercury/moon/neptune are the planets involved, however the focus of your chart remains jupiter, so all the energy you work and build up will be focused on manifestation through jupiter in that 5th house. i hope you like to create.

so, looking at jupiter today, you have uranus transiting over jupiter at the moment. this transit will open some doors and slam others shut. uranus is going to be bringing the energy of the 3rd house (its natal position) to jupiter's expression in the 5th house. in a very healthy way, you will be able to see quite clearly how your habits (both conscious and unconscious) support your ability to create and how they sabotage your ability to create. this is a good time to take notice and study successes and failures. back tracking them to what lead to the final outcome and results that were manifested.

this is a very powerful time to understand your habits and begin working on them. what the 5th house transit of uranus will do for you is help you 'root' your habits, belief systems and patterns through the process of creating. while you may root some deep patterns inherited from your childhood, parents, past lives, you may not be able to 'break' them yet, but when uranus enters your 6th house, you will have the energy to really get to work on some of the really self-hindering habits that you become aware of; now is truly a time of 'sourcing' them through the recognition of them in 'action' as you create in your life.

your entire chart is focused on that jupiter in the 5th, and with so many other planets in their exhaltation/dignity as keishin pointed out you should have much energy at your disposal to create. however, while tropically jupiter is in pisces (which it arguably co-rules and/or was its former ruler as i more see its relationship with pisces), it sidereally or in reality is in aquarius. as you realize more and more that you can create whatever you want on the 'earth' level, you must create it first in your "mental" realm. visualization is very key for you to achieve and create your desired life, and you have a great abilities and talents to orchestrate life in the mundane to create what you want, if you have control of your mind and mental energies.

with eris going into the 7th house (where your sun is located as well as your north node), be aware of chaos in your relationships. chaos is something that can be very productive to help you focus your mental energies, but it takes a lot of work and discipline, which you are also helped with saturn transiting the 11th house ... where it is trying to help you establish a structure of the world of 'associations, friends, groups." how you work and maintain your creativity and individual identity at this time is where the 'honing' of your mental energies will be most challenged and rewarded. maintenance of you in balance in relationships is the main area of life being tested over the next year or so.

i hope this gives you some clarity and understanding.

More views would be greatly appreciated.

Anything I can do as a favour returned?

~Edit~ I think I'm going to need to take up astrology...
