hi windygo ...
if possible, a time from a birth certificate, hospital announcement or birth announcement tends to be more accurate ... if you can ask your mom for information from any type of documentation, that is preferable.
several critical factors such as you your ascendent and house placements are determined by the time you are born.
so, see if you can get a more "official" recollection ... i find with moms who say you were born at "about 3:00" in the afternoon, that can vary quite a bit -- often recalling the time they were driving to the hospital or when they were in a recovery room somewhere. now, if your mom says "you were born at 3:12 p.m." as that time is ingrained in her life as the doctor/midwife announced the birth time, i would be comfortable with a recollection like that. let us know if you can find out anything more on your birthtime.

Hi, Windygo -
An exact birth time would be great, and sometimes a difference of a minute or two is crucial - but in your case it won't have a major effect, and "about 3 o'clock" is good enough. I live in England, and we don't record birth times on birth certificates here, so most of my clients only know their birth times to within a quarter of an hour. In fact, even when hospitals record birth times, I'm dubious as to how accurate they are - the hospital staff have lots of things to do when a new baby is born, and looking at the clock and writing down the time probably isn't number one on their list (and hospital clocks aren't always exact).
We start off by looking at your "Big Three" - Sun, Moon and Ascendant. Your Sun is in Aries; everyone knows their Sun sign - it's the "star sign" you look up in newspaper horoscopes. It's the real you - bold, daring, out there, taking on the world.
Your Moon is how you feel, how you react (especially when someone hurts you), your emotions, your ups and downs, your family. Your Moon is in Cancer, the sign she rules, so that's a pretty strong Moon.
Your Ascendant is the face you present to people when they first meet you - it's also called your "rising sign", and yours is in Leo - outgoing, showy, loves to be the centre of attention. Leo and Aries are both fire signs, so you're a pretty fiery person!
Now for me, the key things that jump out at me from this chart are a Moon/Mars opposition, and your Sun making a right-angle to a bunch of stuff in Capricorn.
OK, the Moon is in Cancer. This is where Business Voodoo's point about birth times comes in - we don't know if your Moon is an 11th house or 12th house Moon. If you were born at 15:00, I'd call it a 12th house Moon because she's right on the "cusp" - this would mean that although your Moon is in Cancer and knows what she wants, you can easily get overwhelmed by other people's emotions. Your boundaries with others can be blurred, as you empathise with them so much when you try to nurture them that it's difficult to know what you feel and what they feel - you can get very angry on someone else's behalf. If you were born at 15:15, it's an 11th house Moon - in which case instead of getting overwhelmed by emotions, you'll express them in groups or with friends. You'll feel safe and nurtured in groups, and may be politically active. So a few minutes difference in your birth time can make all the difference to how you *feel* - and you'll probably recognise which of those interpretations fits best for you.
Anyhow, the Moon is opposite Mars. Your Moon is strong, and so is your Mars in Capricorn. These two have their own agenda, and there's something of a tug-o-war going on between them. The Moon feels very strongly, and Mars will fight for those beliefs. If you can get a nice balance between them, this makes you the activist, the warrior, prepared to go out and fight (either physically or metaphorically) you corner or stand up for a cause. If they're out of balance, you'll either end up buttoning your lip and hurting inside, or constantly getting into flaming rows with people. Get those two in balance, and you'll be a fearless warrior, an activist, a force to be reckoned with.
Mars isn't the only thing in Capricorn. You've got a very close Saturn/Uranus conjunction, with Neptune thrown into the mix. This is powerful, powerful stuff. It's not just you who's got this - this trio were bedfellows from 1987-1989, and they were truly years that changed the world. Saturn is about stability, structure and the "old order". Uranus is the revolutionary and likes to break this old order down. Neptune is mystical and a bit fuzzy and likes to dissolve things. Now, revolutions are usually pretty bloody - they break down the old order, and a whole bunch of people die horribly, and the old order is replaced by a new order. Before 1987, there were two superpowers - the USA, and the Soviet Union. The USA was (and still is) part of NATO, which included Western Europe. The Soviet Union was part of the "Warsaw Pact", which included Eastern Europe. Germany was divided into two - West Germany was on the US's side, East Germany on the Soviet Union's side. Each side had something in the order of 40,000 nukes pointing at each other - each nuke vastly more powerful than the atom bomb that hit Hiroshima during WWII. This was seriously scary end of the world stuff - if a third world war had broken out (and we now know that we came very, very close to it), it would almost certainly have meant the end of civilisation, and possibly the extinction of the human race. The US president at the time wasn't open to talking to the east - this was Ronald Reagan, who was a fundamentalist Christian who believed in the end times (so the coming war was a Good Thing), and who infamously "joked" just before a speech "we begin bombing the Soviets in five minutes". In Europe, we were all pretty scared; opinion polls in the UK showed that something like 60% of us genuinely believed that we wouldn't die of cancer, or heart disease - but that we'd all die in a nuclear conflagration.
Then it all changed. The Soviet Union got a new president who was more open to talking to the West. A Russian spy defected to the West and sounded the alarm - the US wasn't *really* planning to bomb Russia, but the Russians thought they were and were on the verge of bombing the US first. The two leaders sat down, and to everyone's astonishment, the US and the Soviet Union began to disarm - a new arms race, but this time in the right direction! All the more astonishing given that Reagan was seen as a "hawk" (warmonger).
A new era of openness took place in the Soviet Union, who released its iron grip on the eastern European countries. In 1989 the entire edifice came down like a pack of cards; communism collapsed in Hungary first, then Czechoslovakia and Bulgaria. The notorious Berlin Wall came down, and communism collapsed in East Germany, then in Romania. Even the mighty edifice of the Soviet Union itself started to break up, and within a few years there would be no Soviet Union.
So why the digression? Well, the Saturn/Uranus of that period is about the breaking down of the old order. The Neptune, though, meant that instead of it being a horrible bloody revolution, it was quite a gentle one. In Czechoslovakia, they called it the "Velvet Revolution", because nobody died.
So this combination in your chart is about changing the world; to be sure, everyone born the same year as you has this, but in your chart it's PERSONAL, because this combination makes a right-angle to your Sun.
Right-angles (called "squares" in astrology) are challenges to be met. Your Aries Sun wants to be a warrior and take on the world without a care - but the right angle means that you struggle with the fact that you can't achieve what you want right now; you need to plan, you need to persuade, you need to change the world gently. That Aries Sun doesn't care about it being a bloodless revolution - it wants a fight! Your lesson is that you can achieve what you want for yourself, but you need a softer approach to get it.
A few other things about your chart: I've included some asteroids because they seem to play a major role, so let's look at these, and also career.
You've got a LOT of strong planets - Sun is "exalted", Moon in rulership and conjunct Vesta, an asteroid to do with commitment, Mars exalted, Venus in rulership, Saturn in rulership. Your career is indicated by the point marked "MC" on the chart. This is in Taurus, sign of fine living, finesse and beauty. Ruled by Venus - and look where Venus is. Yup, right on the MC. You need a Venusian career - this could be as an artist, a fashion model, a gourmet or a sex goddess. You have a very strong Venus, making a very close "trine" (120 degree) angle to a very strong Mars. This bodes very well for relationships, once you develop one. The problem with relationships for you is shown by that Mars/Moon opposition - either bottling up how you feel on one end of the scale, or having yelling matches at the other - with Juno, the asteroid of relationships - stuck in the middle. Add to this the fact that you have Black Moon Lilith on your Ascendant. You might come across as SCARY: Lilith in Jewish mythology was Adam's first wife, who wouldn't take shit from anybody. She and he were created equal, and she asserted her rights. Because of this, Adam got scared and went running whining to God, who turned Lilith into a baby-eating demon. Unfair, huh? You better believe it! That's misogynist monotheism for you. BML is the "wronged woman", the original feminist, the fighter for what is just, the angry woman, our inner bitch. It's on your Ascendant, and it shows. You need to take a more subtle approach; don't go in for the slanging matches, but don't bottle it up either. Learn the difference between assertiveness and aggression, cut a bit of slack but don't be scared to express what you need calmly but firmly, and you have a chart that will bring you everything you need.

An Aries Sun and a Cancer Moon are good places for those two planets. The Moon "rules" Cancer so that's a major bonus and the Sun is "exalted" in Aries, which is almost as good ruling a sign, but not quite. This means both of these planets tend to act out less. But as Fluffmeister mentioned, the Sun squares to Capricorn do need to be watched.
But this is a good combination for dealing with people. Aries' natural directness is cooled somewhat by Cancer's soothing touch. Unlike many other Aries, you have empathy for others and thus hesitate to jump to a conclusion. You won't have the quick speed of a typical Aries - you'll move just a tad slower, which is to say slightly less than the speed of light. You deal well with people because to express genuine caring and sympathy for them and your innate dramatic tendencies charm them. But that Arian ego and 'me-ness' is still there. Interestingly enough, the influence of Cancer may cause you to doubt you own abilities in leadership. You feel unsure, that somehow people will perceive that you're 'faking it' when you act so exciting and dramatic. Don't take yourself so seriously. If you are one of the rare "shy" types (if I knew exactly where your Moon landed I could be more certain) it's probably due to the fact you don't get a lot of support for the way you act. It's sort of like having "foot in mouth syndrome" as it's called in the US. You tend to go against the crowd and somehow always manage to get on the nerves those around you. Some
may even find you overbearing, for your intensity runs counter to whatever is traditional or established. With the squares to Juno you may have some power struggles in relationships too.
But with Saturn trine your Ascendant and Jupiter, you manage come across as disciplined and understanding at the same time. You may find that eventually as you age you can become an excellent counselor and teacher of others. Probably in the areas which you are now struggling - always the irony of life!

windygo ...
if you could try to get the times, the one thing in the chart posted by fluff that i would key in on in your chart are your yods (or finger of god) which is pointing at your ascendent and mars ... if that time is accurate, those are very significant signatures involving the north node (some call that the indicator of destiny or fulfillment), mars and chiron and your ascendent "expression in the world". the yod is a very sharp, precise aspect with little latitude like the squares, conjuncts, trines or sextiles and i only use up to a 2º orb, hence the time would be important for me to consider.

You guys are doing a great job, even with the lack of information. Thank you so much!
My mom is still getting back to me on the specific time. Even so, I know that I'm one of "those rare shy types" and rather introverted, as opposed to my other alternative that you all suggested.

You're welcome!
Based on your words, it sounds to me like a 12th house Moon is a strong possibility. But I did notice you have Chiron in the 11th house (and still would even if your birth time was off - at least in the later direction). I have that same placement (although my Chiron is in Taurus) and I have real problems with being shy in large groups. Small gatherings of people are just fine but not large ones. There is really nothing I hate more than going to a concert, sports event or even a shopping mall that is crowded. I would rather go to the dentist and the OBGYN . . .

windy go ...
ok, yes, the new time does pose a new chart, slightly different ... i've attached two versions of your chart ... one the traditional "tropical" chart (a time corrected version of the one posted by fluff), and the other a "sidereal" zodiac. there's quite a shift in your planets between the two zodiacs ... most notably your sun sign.
as an aries in the tropical world, that likely describes you well ... because in our time as has been "locked" for millenia, you are an aries. however, the sun, when you were born would actually have been seen in the constellation pisces. why is this significant? well, your sun, in the 8th house, in pisces, is squaring your uranus/saturn conjunction as well as neptune in the 5th house. oookkk ... what does that have to do with me? you ask.
8th house, is the house of ... let's throw out some keywords here ... 'inheritances,' 'other people's money,' 'other people's values', 'death', 'change'; the 8th house is where we use outer experiences to change within. as rob hand describes, "inner energies that want to reach out and experience the world, which compel one to shed any attachments that impede them, and which thus force one ahead toward growth and change."
5th house is the house of your creativity ... back to rob hand, "those aspects of the psyche that wish to express the nature of the self; the drive to play out one's chosen role, or to create, giving one a feeling of being alive and unique."
so, while you may be an 'aries', you could very well be a pisces being energized by a STRONG conjunction of uranus/saturn and then neptune in sagittarius ... hmmm, what does that mean, you ask. its backwards is all. pieces of your being represented by those planets are influencing the sun, rather than the other way around. which results in a life not coming from your source (e.g., your sun).
bearing in mind that you have leo on your ascendent, and sidereally it eclipses your first house, so if you are wondering where your traditional aries personality traits come in, well that could do it right there. but a pisces sun with those fire sign planets squaring it, could also be reflected in an aries personality.
the key is source and knowing the direction of flow ... especially with the sun in the 8th house, 'know thyself' is your key to understanding anything about anything. that saturn/uranus conjunction squaring that sun will impose a sort of push-me-pull-you energy to "don't do that" and "go for it" all at the same time ... its definitely an energy that wants to control and dictate life and what you are doing.
but rather than instigating life experiences, as a true aries "must" do to evolve, you should just experience life and respond to your experiences WITHIN first, then decide what you want to do. but don't worry, although you don't need to be in the traditional aries role of 'starting the party,' your leo ascendent assures that you will definitely be the life of the party!
