Had my baby...

Well I've had Grace. She was born on Friday the 13th, haha! I got to the hospital at 11 on Thursday night and she was born at 7:56am Friday morning. I had wanted to have a natural birth but I got an epidural at about 5:30am, which I am soooo glad about because I tore and if I hadn't have had the epi then I would have needed a local anaesthetic for the stitches to be put in. As it was I could feel them going in, but not feel much pain, cos it had started to wear off... but there's no way I wanted an injection anywhere near my vagina. Jesus, it's bad enough that I had my legs in stirrups with a strange man between them.

Anyway :p she was 7 pounds, 10 ounces and 51cm long. :)

MysticWitch- yes, it was a smooth delivery. I pushed for 3 contractions and she was out. I would like to think that I could have gone without the epidural, but I hadn't gone to the antenatal classes because my bf was working. It wasn't so much the pain that bothered me, but the pressure when she moved into the birth canal, I just felt like I was going to rip open straight away & I had no idea that it was going to feel like that, which is probably cos I couldn't help pushing, I had the urge to push as soon as I felt that pressure and I told the doctor... I was like, I can't not push what do I do? and she just offered me the epidural. I went through probably 5 contractions like that, but it scared me too much (the feeling like I was going to rip open) and so I got the epi. Like I said though, I guess it was a good thing because of the stitches. It just would have been nice to go natural...

My mother had to get stitches down there with my brother. It turned out his shoulders were wide--wider than what they expected-- and they had trouble getting him out. They had to cut her to allow the skin to stretch more!
I remember she had trouble peeing after...it was painful on the stitches.
Doesn't sound fun.
