I've heard predictions that this year is supposed to be starting another El Nino cycle, and it had me remembering the floods back in ... I think it was, 1996? The entire area where my grandfather lived was underwater, and there were places in my city that you couldn't drive through. I still remember my mother staying up all night watching out our back door to make sure the creek behind our apartment wasn't running over it's (blessedly high) banks.
