View Full Version : Odd Dreams

I'm hoping this is the right board...
Every now and then I have some odd insistent dreams. Last night I couldn't sleep and was up til 4am. I tried a breathing exercise and tried to go to sleep. In between tossing and turning I had a couple of dreams that seem connected. I woke up and wrote them down but I still remember them perfectly.
In the first one I was in a place I visit a lot during meditation. I turned and took a path through the woods and came across a group of people standing around a bonfire. There were stumps for chairs and I took one of the three empty ones. Then a man dressed sort of like a druid stood up and introduced himself and the others. There were six of them and some of them I knew and others were complete strangers. They told me I was a part of their "family" and that my name was something that sounded like Aurora or Alora. Then they invited me to dance with them and we were on a mountain bald and there was a thunderstorm. We danced awhile and then I was struck by lightning. My conciousness seemed to hover above while they carried my body to an earthsheltered cottage. They put my body on a bed in the middle and left. I watched for a few seconds and then returned to my body as it began to wake up. Then they cut my clothes off me and washed me with some sort of astringent and put new clothes on me. Then the druid like guy put a necklace around my neck that looks like one I own in real life and told me to wear it tomorow. Then I woke up with a bad earache in both ears.
I tossed and turned a little and finally fell asleep again. Then I was about 12 and at a wedding. The bride seemed to be twelve too and wanted to talk to me privately but there wasn't any time. So I sat with some other girls that I seemed to know very well until the ceremony started. Then I ran to sit where I could see the bride and groom. It was outdoors and the ceremony was dull, loveless and very formal, bride and groom were both adults. Next to me was the bride as a twelve year old though. Then a man dressed as a druid came up behind us and whispered some words. I said something like Caroloon Aurora back to him but he ignored me and the girl next to me whispered something I didn't hear. Then the druid handed her a pamphlet and she let me look at it. It was a druid school she'd been invited to and they taught magic from all over the world, I remember seeing pictures of their voodoo classes. Then I woke up and my ears still hurt a little but it went away quickly.
So how's that for odd?:D I haven't had much time to think about them today, I've been running non-stop except for sneaking in some internet. Anyway I thought I'd see if you guys came up with anything. I'm not sure why I'd have two very clear dreams about druids in a row...
Anyway any insights are very welcome!

Well, first, just to tell you, I'm not to good on dreams, but here is the one thing that stood out in my mind. Did you wear the necklace? I feel that the necklace has some specific meaning here, mabey that necklace will help you to meet an influential person (a powerfull druid perhaps?) and you will be asked to join a coven, (the family thing). Thats pretty much all that I could get from it, the second dream had no outstanding meaning to me but...

Well, we have dream interpretation threads in Divination.
You might try using a dream dictionary too;

Thanks for the links! I'm sorry, I was hoping I had the right board, please move it to divination if that's a better place for it!
Yes, I did wear the necklace and other than just enjoying wearing the necklace nothing out of the ordinary happened. In fact today wasn't all that great, not sucky but not good either.
The druid thing is what stands out to me because other than some basic facts I don't really know much about Druidry or Celtic Reconstructionism. I have a lot of Irish in me and enjoy things that are Celtic but I'm much more at home with the Greek pantheon and religous ideas. hmmm...

here's an interesting site I found...

Well maybe if you go to the Druids forum you'll see something there makes sense or feels right. You could also do some research on Druidry and see where that takes you.

Hello Earthcup, I think that your unconscious is trying to tell you something. Are you by chance having any stress or important changes in your life at the moment? I ask because you say that your dreams are bizarre, and you are having troubles sleeping. Lately, I have been having weird dreams too. In my opinion, I have been having these dreams because my mind is in an uneasy state. I have been trying to soothe my mind and relax more for the past few days, and it has made a positive difference on my dreams and sleeping patterns. Take care.

I thought about that too. I've been sleeping fine lately and I was a bit worried over something but I made an effort to stop worrying and try to relax more last week. I usually don't remember my dreams but when I do they're usually lucid and intense and odd. I can still picture the people and their names from these two...
I think I'm beginning to figure them out but I'd still appreciate outside input..

ME TOO!!!!! As I mentioned, my dreams and sleep patterns are becoming much more "normal" since I have tried to stop worrying. I'm glad to know that I am not the only who has experienced bizarre dreams lately. For intepretting dreams, I think that I prefer to follow what my heart thinks instead of a book. Lately, my dreams have not made much sense until a few days after I have had them. My advice: write your dreams down, so you don't forget them. If they do not have a clear meaning right away, wait a while for your head to clear until you start intepretting them again.

I've got them written down and have even started sketching some of the people I saw in them. I can't stand nagging questions though. I wanna know now! *pretends to whine:D *

Don't know much about dream interp, either, but I'd take the first one to have to do with shamanic-type death & re-birth, & the second one to do with some sort of new beginning...

I have some quick steps for dream interpretation that I find work better than any set of definitions because they make you produce personal answers. First, start by writing the dream in detail. Then from that make two lists. The first list will be all of the objects/places/people in the dream that stand out to you. The second would be all of the events that stand out to you.
Dream one:
objects/places/people:
druid
bonfire
name
cottage
necklace
events:
meeting
initiation/naming
dancing/celebrating
struck by lightening
cleansed
Dream Two:
objects/places/people:
child/adult bride
pamphlet
druid
events:
Wanting to talk but can't
dull/loveless ceremony
not invited to school
From here you'll want to examine each object, event, person or place and write next to it how it made you feel. From a quick glance it looks like you're dreaming about your path. In the first dream there's a feeling that you belong, that things don't hurt you, that you're 'family'. In the second dream you feel like your missing out on things. You don't get to talk to the bride and you're not invited to the school. The fact that you're an adult in the first dream and a child in the second says a lot too. You also seem to think the ceremony was lacking so you might compare the two ceremonies: The conventional wedding and the magickal naming/initiation ceremony. I'm not sure if you're struggling with your path or people in your life are giving you a hard time about it but it seems like your brain is trying to show you what life is like on both sides. Perhaps you're looking at a choice of two different commitments and although one seems to be the 'proper' one the other is definitelty more enjoyable and closer to your self (as the place was a place inside yourself that you meditate to).

I am so bad at dream interpretations! Thank you all so much! And an extra big thanks for Maya!
I'd been going in a different direction but what you said makes perfect sense.
I've had some major spiritual confusion lately and my family isn't exactly supportive. Your interpretation places a lot of things going on right now in a new, clearer perspective.

Hopefully, you will have success with everything. Sorry to hear about your family. I particularly liked Rick's comment about the dream being about a new beginning. I have been thinking about new beginnings, since spring is approaching rapidly. I always have considered spring as being a new beginning- flowers bloom again, the sun shines brightly again, and birds chirp beautifully again. Or if you turn to the Greek pantheon, Demeter gets her daughter Persephone back again. Well, wish you good new beginnings this time of the year in life and in dream interpretation.

Sounds like a classic abduction.

Maybe you will meet some of your family that you never knew you had......
on other dreams- maybe someone could help me with a recurring dream I have ofter-
i am a midevil princess trapped in a castle guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. Time passes, i get bored, so I find myself a sword, slay the dragon, and leave a note pinned to it reading 'too late, sucker!'
any ideas?
