first of all; i would love to thank rantnraven for pointing a lost little blonde girl in the right direction. lol
second of all i would like to introduce myself, now that i am in the right spot.
greetings! i am new to this delightfully found sight, and somewhat new to my equally delightful path.
i am rather excited. i am a solitairy practicioner, and have just moved from one rather desolate, isolated place to another that has very little to offer as far as neo-paganism is concerned. i have done little studying, not for lack of trying, but rather lack of availability, and have much to learn. although i truly wish i had someone to guide and teach me, i read what i can, and study, practice and learn what i am able. i cannot begin to express the joy i experienced when i found this site!! it is a place where i am welcome to be, s i am and as i feel; just as the moon welcomes me with her enveloping comfort every night. ( might i add she is bold and brilliant to night!!!)
anyway, thank you so much, and blessed be!

Though I have welcomed you before, I shall welcome you again.
You say that you are eager to learn and are seeking a mentor/teacher? It took me several years to find one. Be careful. The woods are chalk-full of predators that would love to tell you that can teach you the ways. Be specific in your questions. There are a few out there that would love to "teach" you in there own way.
Don't be afraid. Just be warned.
Post ifyou have any question about anyone. This COmmuity may have heard of them.
I guess, just be careful.

i thank you for your words of warning. very much appreciated. though i would love to have someone to help me, i am really not looking to find one; rather i think i may have found what i need here. i agree with you though. i never had anywhere to turn for advise, or ideas, support... i feel awkward at times, needing more insight, and information. i feel that this is a grand place for many points of view, insights, and better understanding. and all without having to expose my innerself to those i protect it from. i guess i am just so eager to learn, study and practice; to be able to tune into this feeling i have had inside me for so long, to be able to understand it. thank you again.

Try the Books Forum. That could prove to be helpful. Really, though, take you time. this is not somthing you want to rush into. Deep breath! Sit and meditate a for a while. Before you go rushing head-long into this, find out whoYOU are. If you can't define that, there is no scense to it all. Be you -nadno one else.

Merry Meet Freya,
I understand how you feel. Although I am not physically isolated like you as I live in a city. But feel isolated and cut off from pagan groups due the area of the city I live in and my reliance on public transport to get around the city.
I would like to tell you that I have found this site (as well as a few others) helpful and comforting so I hope you do also.
Blessed Be

Come on over to the Talk Forum. There is always room

RnR ~ thanks for the referral ;) Seriously, one of the most important things you can do at the beginning is read, and get an idea of what different people in the community believe and how they approach their spirituality. That way you can work out what particular path is most suited to you at this time...

Yes, I would agree that books are good. However, there is something very special with having a mentor. Once I discovered my path, I sought a mentor. I found one about 10 years ago and he changed my life completely. Prosperity through education and practical application is what he taught. Books and Practice create a balance.
Unfortunately, he passed on last September. But it is through his teaching that I was able to apply all that I had learned from the books effectively.
But be warned and be careful when selecting a mentor. Make sure they have plenty of references.
