I am going to go on vacation this June and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or favorite spots they love to go to?

I live in Jacksonville, Fl. (just so you'll have a starting point, lol!)

Any suggestions- cruises, another country, somewhere here in the US (alright, maybe Canada;) )

We thought about Jamaca already. Anyone?

Have you done a search using our search function (top, near the right, under the big graphic, between F.A.Q. and home)? I seem to recall this question coming up a time or two recently.

No I haven't, actually. I didn't know we could do that:D

A lot of Bneter's are over here as well now though. I go try to find that thread- but any one with suggestions can leave them here;)

I plan to go to Alaska and New Zealand some day in the far distant future when I actually have the money required to make these trips and someone to go with (preferably of the husbandly variety).

Is money an object?

Hawai'i -- the only place that lives up to every bit of hype. Sell the car, mortgage the house, and go live there. We spent our honeymoon there.

Fern Resort in Orillia, Ontario. It's geared toward family but apparently works for couples too. Everything's included and with the Canadian dollar still in the toilet, it's a lot cheaper than you think.

What do you want in a vacation, Mel?

Sun & beaches? (OK, you've probably got enough of that in Florida.)
Adventure?
Wildlife?
Pampering?
Sophistication?
Scenery & Natural Wonders?
Social scene?
The new & exotic?
Quiet isolation?

(NOTE: Some of these are mutually exclusive. So you have to pick what you want out of this trip.)

Who me?

I want peace and quiet. Scenery and natural wonders would be nice, too. But I definitely need someplace comfy to spend my nights. (Just 'cuz I'm Pagan doesn't mean I'm the rugged outdoorsy type. :) )

Ah, gods, it has been so loooong since I've had a real vacation!

My dream vacations:

Ireland for at least a week, preferably three;

the Channel Islands , the ones between England and France. Never been there, but here they are lovely.

But in a pinch, I'll take Vegas!:ahhhh:

Starry- me too, it has been years since I have had a real vacation. Me and my friend ran away for a girls weekend to Universal Studios.

WE both have kids and needed a get away sooo bad! I had gotten tickets from my mom and they were about to expire in the next month or so. My doc had also said I needed a break badly!

So we hauled butt, left the kids with the dad's, and had a great time. So nice not hearing mommy, mommy- I need, I need. (Although I must admit I missed them Sunday - we left the day before:) )

I am going to go on a real vacation this June though. I am still debating on the fast and furious vacation (on the go, so much to do) or the laid back, drink, and sleep on the sand vacation.

I think drinks and sleep w/ tan are looking really good right about now, although my pictures will look really dull, lol!

"Here Dawn on the beach, here is Dawn turning over on the other side- Dawn drinking more Pina Coladas..." Sounds like the Summerlands! Ahhh!:sunny:

Yeah, come to Canada!!!!! :boing:

Fern Resort in Orillia, Ontario. It's geared toward family but apparently works for couples too. Everything's included and with the Canadian dollar still in the toilet, it's a lot cheaper than you think.

I've been there! To Orillia anyway (Grandparents live there).. It's really nice, but mind you, I was right smack dab in the middle of the city :ahhhh:.. :wah: I want a real vacation again..No more of this camping stuff!

 I would probably go somewhere where it's colder, but that's just my tastes.. Most likely I'd go to Russia or some other northern country over there in Europe. Ireland, Scotland, England...They all sound good right about now. :)

Or Cape Cod... I've heard about that place somewhere...Why's it so special??? Ooh....while we're talking east coast.. Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick!!! :D (Here I go promoting Canada again. )

And I'm rambling, so I'll stop. ;)

I'm pretty much a rockandroll person, but good is good, no matter what format.
That's my opinion, anyway. :sunny:

I'm a "whatever's playing I'll listen to" type person.. ;) Which means punk while I'm around the comp.... New generation country when Ma's cooking.... Pop/top 40 in my room (radio) and old school country in the truck. Too lazy to change any of 'em. ;)

I want peace and quiet. Scenery and natural wonders would be nice, too. But I definitely need someplace comfy to spend my nights.

So "rustic elegance" might be right up your alley? (As in, quiet isolated "cabin" somewhere beautiful... that just happens to have a queen-sized bed, a full kitchen, full bath, and livingroom... but no TV or radio? With food available at the restaurant at the main lodge? And maybe a fireplace for good measure?)

OK, that for the description I was specifically picturing Kit Carson Lodge in California (where I have worked). But there are plenty of other places like it around the country. The Adirondacks (in Upstate New York) have been offering "Rustic Elegance" -- all the comforts of home in a "rustic" setting -- for well over a century now.

OK, now, what do you like for climate? For scenery? Oceans? Big-sky? Mountains? Tropical rain forests? Igloos? Wide open places?

Actually that would be great, but I would also like to party my butt off at least once or twice:D

Actually, I would- except my ex lives somewhere in that area (Ft. Worth area).

He was the only soul mate (at least that how I feel) I ever had- but he is gone to another now (distance, time and age). Lucky girl! I would be to busy trying to "spy in" on him and make sure she is treating him the way he deserves.:2G:

Actually, I wouldn't do it, but it would probably cross my mind!;)

There are many other places to visit in Texas, darlin'. go to the coast and drive 'em crazy on the beaches!

Fiji, or almost any of the islands in Oceana.

The Bitterroot mountains (MT)

Baja Mexico, always a favorite of mine!

Anywhere in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

I could go on, haha. Planning our vacation this year too. So many choices, so little time.

If you're still looking there are some great deals to Australia. I just went to Queensland Aus and had the time of my life! It offers relaxation and some serious party spots....as well as adrenaline rushes like sky diving, bungy and rafting. Highly recommend checking it out!

Good luck wherever you go...I hope you have a great time!
