Okay well I'm really interested in Hellenistic Reconstructionism(after reading loads lol). I think that this may be the path for me at this point in my life. I'm already incorperating things into my daily lifestyle. But on the subject of prayer, how do you end it?
Christians always end prayers with "Amen". But I really dont' want to use that for my prayers to Greek deities. So what would've been the proper way for Greeks to end the prayer(just a spoken prayer)?
I don't think it'd be proper(unless I come to find out this was typical for ancient Greeks) to just stop talking.
Any help would be nice, thanks!

Good question, but I don't think there are any specific ways to do it. I studied Hellenism for a while, and I didn't come across any specific things to say at the end of a prayer. I always say something like "Blessed Be" or "So Mote it Be" but I'm a witch who works with some Greek gods, not a full reconstructionist. You could always close with a simple "Thank you" or "Thank you for listening, Mighty Ones, may you continue to guide me and bring your blesings upon me." (Just a suggestion). Ancient Greeks were big on offerings, so you could always close by giving an offering to a deity. I'll look through a few of my books to see if I can find any traditional ways to close a prayer.

Well I don't think there is any "YOU have to do it this way" thing. But I'm just unsure of how to end it. I like your suggestions though, especially the longer one.
Thanks!

No problem my dear. I was flipping through my books on ancient Greek religion and couldn't find much of anything helpful. The basic components of ancient Greek prayer were: 1. invocation of deity 2. explaining why they should answer your request 3. actual request, and then you would make some kind of sacrifice of food, incense, clean water etc.
