Hi everyone,

I'm new here so I'm not quite sure which board I should be posting this on.

Anyway, with the full moon tonight, all week I have been planning to do a re-dedication ritual as I feel I have neglected this part of my life recently due to certain circumstances.

I have come down today with a nasty cough and cold and was wondering what the rest of you do when you're not feeling up to scratch on esbats, sabbats etc.

Do you try and do what you can or leave it until you're feeling better? I think I might just do a tarot reading and cleanse my crystals but I feel like once more I am neglecting my religion.

Any thoughts on this greatly appreciated!!

I think the Goddess wouldn't mind you missing out on a Esbat over a cold. Your health come first. This would apply just as well to the Sabbats.

Take a nap and get some rest. I will light a candle for you on this night. It shall be of cleansing white and shall burn brightly.

Have some lemonade too.

I too have come down with a nasty virus. Started out as an ear-ache, escalated to a sinus infection and sore throat and eventually settled into my chest and gave me a nasty cough.
Being pregnant (37 weeks now!!!) I haven't been able to take any over-the-counter medications and have to be careful about any other remedies.
When I don't feel up to doing anything too special (such as when I had to have a root canal performed on Samhain!), I usually just try to meditate or do something relaxing.
A bath with candles and scented oils is great to start out with, then getting dressed in one of my 'special outfits', light some candles and start my meditations. Reading the Tarot is great also, especially if doing the reading before meditating.
This is just a personal thing, hope it helps.

I personally will do my normal nightly ritual, unless I'm dead in bed. But I will leave the bigger rituals until I feel better. I know that if I try them in a weakened energetic state, I may as well have not done them at all as there would be no effect. But that's all just me.

I feel your health should always come first.

if you do not feel up to the task, then perhaps a simple cleansing ritual and reading would do ...

I am sure the Goddess understands...

if you feel like you are neglecting your religion, then perhaps you need to to take a step back, allow yourself time to get well, and aproach it again with a renewed spirit... I think when your spiritual life becomes a CHORE, then the magick is lost, and it is meaningless...

take care of your health, you need your body to do your "work" here , whatever it is...
hope this helps
