Ok in May of 2005 we as a group here started the MW Tarot deck and it went well for awhile and then flopped. So I got permission from FGM to conitue this deck, so that is what I am doing.

Guidelines/ Rules:
Do not use copy-righted art. ( come up with your own interpreataions of the card and express it through your art work.)

Ok due to the fact the cards that have been assigned are still not completed, even well over a year I am just going to list them here and will add the names of whoever wants that card beside it, once they are claimed.

And as for the Prince and Princess thing that was done because of the Deck orignally FGM used to assign the cards, and nothing was decided so, I thought since there were already cards done to stick with it... When I looked at the cards that were done, the wands definitely looked air, and I didn't see any swords, so I think I will go with fire for the Sword Courts, and i hope that others will follow suit. If I get on a roll, I might be able to do a couple more during my Yule break. But we will wait and see.

I've got the preliminary sketch for the Sun finished. I got inspired.
the sketch for the Queen of Cups is still being designed. If I get these done fairly quickly, I may take a few more Minors on. Since we have until December. :santasmil

This is a super awesome technique from photoshop. It was so easy to do, I couldn't believe it. I would really like to find a better queen, but the free photos that are out there just wouldn't come. So she is still cool, but not quite what I was hopeing for.

Now that you brought that out you are right. I think I know of a way to fix this. It wasn't that way when I had it in photoshop, but when I switched it to JPEG he washed out. However, I think I have the cure.

Zephyrstorm that sun is just beautiful. Getting them digitally after you finish always seems to wash them out. Mine were done in Photoshop with a calibrated monitor, and when I changed it to JPEG to place on the site, it changed the way it looked somewhat. It isn't as clear :( but hey, that thing is just gorgeous anyway, it is bright and sunny.

Shatril, I get the same problems with scanning and with formats. I think it's the nature of the computer beast... or maybe I should just break down and get a Mac for my art needs. I still don't have Photoshop, so I'm using Corel right now. Photoshop's just too expensive, even with student discounts. :huddle:

True - though extenders will save your life with Acrylics. Oils take forever to dry too. Once you're finally done with working the paint, it's just such a wait. And in this environment - it can take a year (ah, humidity, how I loathe thee at times.)

Next time you're shopping for paints, look at the additives that they sell nearby, usually near where the sand and other texturizing materials are. You'll see tubes that will say things like "Gel medium... gloss" - Some of them will be extenders, others will change the quality/texture/etc (and some of them will extend the paint too). Usually it gives the acrylic a slightly longer drying time, not as nice as oils, but a good 10 minutes?

Here is the Ten of Pentacles. I really had some trouble getting what I wanted here. I may have another go at it later, but I like how this one looks. This is the last one for me.

Yes I was thinking about how we were going to do the meanings for this deck and descriptions... so yes please write out what the card means to you and your description.. Now some may not be able to and well i will contact those who have not seen the new thread ...

Also something else I want to talk to you all about is what is this deck going to be made of? Do we put it on CD/dvd
then send it out to those who want it? Then print it out?
Or do we do a print deck for those who want it? Either way it is going to cost a bit. And I am willing to cover some of the expense but we need to see what is best for everyone. I have some ideas on how to do each thing mentioned here so let me know ...

Oh and also do we just limit this to being made for just those who partook in this project or what?

Oh ya lmaost forgot I want to know what names I am to put for the copyright information for each card I am going to do a list in the booklet or on cd/dvd and we should get that started as well.

I was assuming that these were going to be for our own use. As for copyright, I don't want mine to be copywrited, so you only need to give me credit for making them. If someone can improve on those cards I want them to be able to try that. I will definitely get on with the descriptions for the cards I have already made, and will put together the description for the ones that I will be making next week.

hmmm ... rather than print them out, perhaps we can make a free mystical wicks online tarot reading using the images ... rather than produce a printed version ... unless, of course, the participants want a full copy, then i would only print it for those participants who want it.

as for the copyright them as a collection ... in general, i would prefer an "anticopyright" the collection, making them available for use by anyone anytime without reservations, as a gift to the universe. the only reason i would want an official copyright is if someone else is trying to make money off of it, in which case i want protection ... however if its something free to whomever wants it, i'm cool with the anticopyright.

IF there is a collection copyright, however, i would want the copyrights for the individual cards of mine to be reserved to me, therefore, i would license them to the collection for their use and if any money is to be made, a royalty, etc.

an online oracle/reading would be an awesome addition to the mystic wicks forum, though. i would be most happy to contribute to a free tarot reading generator for mystic wicks.

That is exaclty what I am talking about. That is what I want us to decide on. Credit to each person. The cards I am doing for this deck maybe used in my own decks so ya I want my rights acknowedlged lol :D And not have it tied in some legal crap. Also we may want to consider a name for it as well.

And yes a website was considered and then that way people who want the deck could save the cards to their desktop as well.

I chose the the Emperor because I wanted something that wasn't the traditional dude on a throne. I also looked up the meaning of the totem here: http://www.sayahda.com/cyc2.html and found it to be highly appropriate, IMO.

The Wheel was inspired by the Animaniacs. I just couldn't resist. :D

We are writing our own little blurbs for each card and none of the cards previous had any write ups soooo when the time comes I am going to go pm people and see if they can do one. And if not we will come up with something I am sure :D

In the 2nd one, the central figure almost glows. The swords are a little blurry which, IMO makes them seem almost imaginary... like dark shadows in your mind. So, for me, since I interpret the 8 of Swords as "the bonds are of your own making, you can escape if you just see that they are not really there, and that there is a way out", the 2nd one conveys that perfectly. :hahugh:

Ladies and gentlemen The Lovers is finally finished! It took me all day today to get it done and I've got a splitting headache but I'm satisfied with it. Let me know whatcha think!

The idea behind it is that lovers are bound together thus the shackles and the straps around the wrists and ankles. Plus it takes team work, so I gave each of them only one wing. I put in some elements like air and made her the moon and him the sun. Lots of color meanings too. I took symbolism to a whole new level in this one.

Here is my first card:hahugh:

The prince awaits the arrival of news from the outside world. With his wand, he looks to the ships that get near to the coast, bringing deep changes to his life.
For me, this card means all that - change (good or bad). A big deep turn in life.

Finally I got time to finish the Queen of Wands. Decided to try something... diferent... so I don't know if you guys will like it.

For me the Queen of Wands is a card that represents offspring, and is very connected to the Earth and Sun energies.

Tell me what you think of this one :) all apreciations are welcome!



Now... let's see if I can still post the "Star" card this week.

Thank you the clouds were a result of pencil smudges and some red and grey smudged together in photoshop. I was trying to contrast with the grey of the tomb stone and such :) Anyways I have major ideas for that picture in the next few months :D

THREE OF PENTACLES

The card wich represents the conclusion of a project, the achievment of a goal, alone or in a group.

I drawed many versions for this card but it came up to this.
I hope you guys like it. It was made in a hurry, so the final result is not so good... _inabox_ but wanted to post it before my absence.

I give you the High Priestess - She really has fought me through all of this. :)
I decided to do something different - so I looked at African art.

And this is the result. :) I really like her.

The High Priestess is a card that, to me, represents wisdom and a connection to the Divine. She is the representative of the traits that make for a good confidant and more.
I chose this particular mask because it represents idealized beauty, and there are a great many ideals that people put upon the Priestesses that we encounter.
The animals too are connected with the Goddesses of the Earth, which I felt was very appropriate.
