Myst
March 16th, 2002, 07:10 AM
I saw the thread for favourite childhood book, so how about your favourite movies?
Mine is The Last Unicorn. I still watch it from time to time and find myself glued to the TV and misty eyed. I was obsessed with unicorns and what they symbolized and still am.

By far The Last Unicorn!
I watched a lot of Legend and Labrynth.... And Star Wars! But I'd have to say Last Unicorn takes the number 1 spot!

The first two that come to mind are "Cinderella" (the Rogers and Hammerstein version) and "The Wizard of Oz". This will date me but videos were unheard of back then, and we went to see a movie on the big screen about once or twice a year. We only had three TV stations, but those two movies were replayed once a year. I always looked forward *very eagerly* to watching them.
Star Wars came out when I was in high school. It was so amazing. I loved it!

Flar's Freyja
March 16th, 2002, 07:29 PM
The Incredible Mr. Limpett with Don Knotts, and of course, the Wizard of Oz.
If you've seen Girl, Interrupted - one of the patients is obsessed with the movie and lives in her own withdrawn world. There is a profound little scene in the movie (both of them) that you might miss the first time. It's when Glinda the Good Witch tells Dorothy that she's had the power to go home all along.............

March 16th, 2002, 07:33 PM
Wizard of Oz.....a story of the four elements and spirit on the journey back home!!..Awesome flick

hehe you can really see age differences in these picks - most of us are in Legend, Labyrinth, and the Last Unicorn, then you have the Disney movies (ie. Alladin, Mermaid, Fantasia etc.) and stuff like Aristocats (newer), then stuff like the Wizard of Oz and Pollyanna (a bit older). I just find it interesting that's all :D

heheh. My husband and I were trying to find copies of the original Grizzly Adams Movies. Found alot online..but they are WICKED expensive now, because they are collectors items. I did, however, download the theme song. I think I liked the Easter Special one the most...where Grizzy is explaining the story of Jesus to the Native Americans, and they tell him a story they have of a man suspiciously like Jesus, and there's a forest fire, and and and....

This is a site in English. This is a great comic if you're interested in the Gauls and Celts but the Romans regularly get their butts kicked so maybe not so entertaining to those who practice Religio Romana!

Just off the top of my head, mine were:
- The Last Unicorn (just finished reading the book for the first time - excellent! Can't wait to read more by this author)
- The Secret of NIMH (also based on a book but I haven't read it)
- Dumbo (still a tear-jerker)
- Annie
- The Neverending Story
I don't really remember a lot of kids movies. By the time I was 9 or 10 I was watching horror flicks with my Dad (warped or what!?!). I have never seen E.T. so I'm going to head to the theater when it comes out this Spring so I can see what all the fuss is about!
