I am considering buying a sofa from Ashley Furniture Homestore.
Does anyone have experience with them? Just looking for some feedback from anyone who may have shopped there regarding customer service and quality. What I've found on Google hasn't been too positive, perhaps some one here has had better experiences?
Thanks!

I used to work at the upholstery factory in Arcadia WI and my spouse still does. Personally it wouldn't be caught in my house. In truth, some models hold up better than others. Have them look up the model number and I can tell you the fail rate/quality of it. My spouse was a Quality Inspector as was I - now she is a framer.
Side note - DO NOT buy one made from the plant in Ecru MO. They had a 45% fail rate on their models. You can find the build plant by looking under one of the cushions for a large tag about 3 inches wide and 9 inches long

We're looking at the Durahide-Onyx model #5290038.
After spending a few hours reading about other customer experiences, I'm unsure I want to deal with them. The customer service seems to be, um, well, not good is a polite way to say it! I kinda uneasy about the whole "You pay us and we'll send it to you in 3-4 weeks" thing too.
Furniture shopping makes my head hurt.

I used to have those built on my line - they are absolute pieces of crap! The "pleather" they use is prone to cracking and tearing and spliting. The frame is very weak on the bottom back area. In order to get wrinkles out when they are coming off the line, they have to use a steamer (normally use a heat gun on full leather but that burns this fake stuff) and it rarely actually permantly removes the crease and wrinkles. Stay away! They are very cheap versions of leather couches. Durahide anything sucks big time. If you want leather go for leather. I personally would reccomend the 336xx38 models. The first 3 numbers in the set are the actual model number. The middle 2 are the color and the last 2 are the size (i.e. 38=sofa, 35=loveseat, 39=sleeper, etc.)
Good luck! **seems odd they are saying 3-4 weeks. normal delivery times are within 1 week. Unless something is on backorder from the factory. Don't be neccessarily to harsh on customer service because of the boneheads in the store - hard I know because the impression of the sales people is the impression of the company. If you have a problem you actually deal directly with corporate. Their customer service satisfaction rates are on par with the likes of La-Z-Boy, so not that bad actually. But hey - corporate is corporate after all

Thank you for your help. After much discussion with Hubby, we decided to get a leather one from Sears. It's more than I want to spend, but Sears has always been good to us in term of service and warranty. And they'll deliver it on Friday. :boing:
