I love the art by Josephine Wall. It's gorgeous.

It does take a long time to load, especially with my sl--o--w computer, but it's worth it.

I finally went to the Mythography site, Sisqui. I loved it. Are you guys asking about contemporary artists reputations of the gods and goddesses? I don't know of many modern artists who have drawn or sculpted the appearances of the divine. However, I can think of loads of beautiful pictures and sculptures of the gods and goddesses from antiquity and the Renaissance. I'm personally a fan of Botticelli.

My favorite piece of Goddess art is a Gaia statue. I haven't looked for it online, but I know it must be out there. It is just gorgeous. Oh I just found it. :D http://www.goodjujuonline.com/statuary.htm She is about 2/3 down the page.

There is something that is so beautiful and kind and regal in that statue. I want it for my b-day. *hint to hubby*

WOW....I have been absent for a very long time....I come back to the most amazing thread! Truly, the Gaia statuary is a very wonderful and magickal piece of work!...and would complement my gardens as well...unfortunately I have 'traded' computers and lost my 'favorites' links to some great sites relevant to this discussion...I am off now to find them again ~ and shall report back later...walk well....
with blessings,
Athena

I hope that you find your favorite links again, Athena. I'm sure that many of us will find it so exciting to read your information. True, a Gaia statuary will complement your garden quite nicely. When I move into my very own home, I would love to have a big, lovely garden with a statue or two of a god or goddess- give the home a Roman feel. I had this friend when I lived in Northern California who had a beautiful garden. In the garden, she had statues of the Roman goddesses.

I've always loved this one by Bougareau of Persephone:

This isn't the best image of it - but for those of you who've seen the movie The Age of Innocence they borrowed it for the film and it gets a good viewing.
